^(11)C-PK11195 is a positron emitter tracer used for Positron Emission Tomography(PET)imaging of innate immune cell activation in studies of neuroinflammatory *** the image quantitative analysis,it is necessary to quantify the intact fraction of this tracer in the arterial plasma during imaging acquisition(plasma intact fraction).Due to the complexity and costs involved in this analysis it is important to evaluate the real necessity of individual analysis in each 11C-PK11195 PET imaging *** purpose of this study is to compare 11CPK11195 plasma metabolization rate between healthy controls and multiple sclerosis(MS)patients and evaluate the interference of sex,age,treatment,and disease phenotype in the tracer intact fraction measured in arterial plasma samples.11C-PK11195 metabolization rate in arterial plasma was quantified by high performance liquid chromatography in samples from MS patients(n=50)and healthy controls(n=23)at 20,45,and 60 minutes after 11C-PK11195 *** were also stratified by sex,age,treatment type,and MS *** results showed no significant differences in the metabolization rate of healthy controls and MS patients,or in the stratified *** conclusion,11C-PK11195 metabolization has the same rate in patients with MS and healthy controls,which is not affected by sex,age,treatment,and disease ***,these findings could contribute to exempting the necessity for tracer metabolization determination in all 11C-PK11195 PET imaging acquisition,by using a population metabolization rate *** study procedures were approved by the Ethics Committee for Research Projects Analysis of the Hospital das Clinicas of the University of Sao Paulo Medical School(approval No.624.065)on April 23,2014.

To establish the chemical profile, and to evaluate the antibacterial and modulatory activity of the ethanolic extracts of the stalk’s inner bark and heartwood of Secondatia *** of total phenols and flavonoids was determined by the Folin-Ciocalteu method and aluminum chloride, respectively. Phenolic compounds were identified and quantified by HPLC-DAD (High Performance Liquid Chromatography-Diodearray detector) and the Infrared Spectroscopy was performed using the measure by Attenuated Total Reflectance with Fourier Transform (ATR-FTIR). Antibacterial assays for determination of the Minimum Inhibitory Concentration (MIC) and modification of aminoglycosides were performed by *** spectra showed similar characteristics, having among its main absorption bands hydroxyl group (OH). The antibacterial activity showed clinically significant results for the strains of Staphylococcus aureus and Escherichia coli. In modulation assay, synergic and antagonistic effect for both extracts was observed. Heartwood extract in combination with antibiotics showed a significant MIC reduction at 19.8% (P < 0.000 1)-79.3% (P < 0.01).ConclusionsThis study is the first report of chemical and biological information of Secondatia floribunda suggesting that it is clinically relevant source of a new antibacterial therapy, especially due to the presence of significant levels of phenolic compounds.

Wildfires have environmental,economic,and social impacts,and can shape the landscape and benefit ecosystems such as the *** study evaluated the diversity,similarity,and floristic and structural differences of woody savanna and forest formations of the Cerrado,when affected and not affected by ***-eight 25-400m2 plots were randomly allocated and divided into Burnt Cerrado and Unburnt Cerrado,Burnt Forest,and Unburnt Forest,and divided into three levels of inclusion according to diameter class(smaller than 2 cm,2-5 cm and larger than5 cm).Species were identified,DBH and height measured,and phyto sociological parameters such as volume,diversity,and floristic similarity *** Cerrado had lower diversity,density,and dominance at all inclusion levels compared to the Unburnt Cerrado,and showed similarities between treatments at the inclusion *** Forest had smaller differences in diversity,density,and dominance than Unburnt *** formation was similar at level 1 of inclusion and in the total ***,it was dissimilar at lower *** lower density and diversity of species at the lowest levels of inclusion was associated with mortality from fire.

Multitemporal Analysis of Land Use and Coverage in the Low Course of the Araguaia River

This work aimed to analyze the spatial behavior of plant formations and land use in the Ecological Tension Area Amazon—Cerrado. To this end, the Araguaia river basin was selected, in its low course, because it constitutes a physical-natural limit between the two Biomms, with intense dynamics of use and land cover Thus, in addition to researching scientific references and socioeconomic data from secondary sources, a geographic database was elaborated, with georeferenced data, and spatial operations are carried out. Among them, a supervised classification of land use and coverage, with multi-temporal analysis between the years 1984, 2000 and 2018. Thus, an expansion of 4.2 ha of Forest (Amazon biome) was observed on the savanic phytophysiognomy (Cerrado). However, the suppression of forested areas reached values around 21,700 km2, with direct conversions to anthropic activities, mainly pasture, about 71%. The results of the mapping compared with the data of the agricultural census show that the landscape of the Araguaia river basin, in its low course, is dominated by areas of pasture managed. However, public policies and government investments have fomented the expansion of agriculture in the direct bank of the river Araguaia, from 2000 onwards, and that the landscape of the left bank is dominated by pasture managed. Finally, it was found that the implantation of protective areas contributed to the vegetational regeneration of both biomms.

Innate lymphoid cells in tissue homeostasis and diseases

Innate lymphoid cells(ILCs) are the most recently discovered family of innate immune cells. They are a part of the innate immune system, but develop from the lymphoid lineage. They lack pattern-recognition receptors and rearranged receptors, and therefore cannot directly mediate antigen specific responses. The progenitors specifically associated with the ILCs lineage have been uncovered, enabling the distinction between ILCs and natural killer cells. Based on the requirement of specific transcription factors and their patterns of cytokine production, ILCs are categorized into three subsets(ILC1, ILC2 and ILC3). First observed in mucosal surfaces, these cell populations interact with hematopoietic and non-hematopoietic cells throughout the body during homeostasis and diseases, promoting immunity, commensal microbiota tolerance, tissue repair and inflammation. Over the last 8 years, ILCs came into the spotlight as an essential cell type able to integrate diverse host immune responses. Recently, it became known that ILC subsets play a key role in immune responses at barrier surfaces, interacting with the microbiota, nutrients and metabolites. Since the liver receives the venous blood directly from the intestinal vein, the intestine and liver are essential to maintain tolerance and can rapidly respond to infections or tissue damage. Therefore, in this review, we discuss recent findings regarding ILC functions in homeostasis and disease, with a focus on the intestine and liver.

Grape juices are rich in bioactive compounds;however,for these compounds to exert their functionality,they must be ***,the present study evaluated a simulated digestion process on the main bioactive compounds of monovarietal grape juices of five Brazilian hybrid cultivars(*** x ***).Characterization of the chemical profiles in liquid chromatography(HPLC-DAD-RID),behaviour of phenolics in the stages of digestion and bioaccessibility through the INFOGEST protocol plus intestinal barrier passage were carried *** the 24 polyphenols identified in the grape juice samples,11 were bioaccessible,with emphasis on the class of *** B2(101-426%),(+)-catechin(169-370%)and gallic acid(61-230%)stood out in all juices,showing that these compounds are key to the functionality of these *** were observed to differ between juices,demonstrating that factors such as the cultivar should be explored more extensively in studies on functional *** study also suggests that quality components such as sugars and organic acids influence the bioaccessibility of beverages.

Proposal of Stainless Steel Roof Structure and Tiles for Gymnasiums

This work proposed an architectural alternative project of a stainless steel roof structure that uses roof tiles also in stainless steel with emphasis on roofs for multi-sport *** the development of the work,two existing multi-sports gymnasiums are taken as a reference,but with ASTM(American Society for Testing and Materials)A36 steel roof *** proposed cover system uses cables and light gauge profiles,in commercial stainless steel,which reduces the weight and of course the final price of the roof structure.A structure that presents technical feasibility is obtained and analyzed by checking its behavior with respect to the efforts and displacements generated by the combinations of the acting loads,following the safety recommendations of the applicable *** is verified that using the stainless steel structure proposed in this work would cost 42%of the reference structure if this were in AISI(American Iron and Steel Institute)304 stainless *** this cost tends to be minimized due to greater durability and consequent reduction in maintenance costs of this type of steel.

In this work,the impact of the doping process on the photoluminescence emission of CaWO_(4) as a function of the concentration of Eu^(3+) cation(0.01 mol%,0.02 mol%,0.04 mol%,0.06 mol%,0.08 mol%,and 0.10 mol%) is discussed in ***_(1-x)WO~4:xEu^(3+) samples were successfully synthesized by a simple coprecipitation method followed by microwave *** blue shift in the absorption edge confirms the quantum confinement effect and the band gap energy covers the range from 3.91 to 4.18 eV,as the amount of Eu^(3+) cations *** experimental results are sustained by first-principles calculations,at the density functional theory level,to decipher the geometry and electronic properties,thereby enabling a more accurate and direct comparison between theory and experiment for the Ca_(1-x)WO_(4):xEu^(3+) structure.
