The study evaluated the growth performance and carcass quality of COBB500 broilers fed two experimental rations incorporating feed and mango fine ED10 for a batch of 83 birds, ED20 (batch of 83 birds) in comparison with a commercial control ration CCD (84 birds). For this purpose, 250 day-old chicks of this breed were purchased in Korhogo and transported to Tengréla in Ivory Coast for rearing. The results show that substituting mango provender ans and mango seed flour for maize resulted in rations with costs per kgMS of 215.35FCFA, 2016.93FCFA and 320FCFA for the ED10, ED20 and CCD rations respectively. The production costs per kg of chicken (FCPkgLW) of the CCD ration were significantly higher than those of the ED10 and ED20 (p 0.05). ADGs were significantly different and decreasing from CCD, ED20 to ED10 (p 0.05). Average weights at 42nd day for ED20 and CCD were homogeneous (p > 0.05) and significantly higher than for ED10 (p 0.05). By day 49th the average weight of ED20 had reached and exceeded that of CCD by day 42nd. PSLW, HCW and CCW were significantly different and decreasing from CCW, ED20 to ED10 (p 0.05). Average hot (HCY) and cooled (CCY) carcass yields of ED20 and CCD rations were comparable (p > 0.05) and significantly higher than those of ED10 ration (p = 0.009) and 0.003). Average drumstick and neck weights were significantly higher and lower for CCD, ED20 and ED10 (p 0.05). For all other parts of the cut, the average weights of the CCD ration were significantly higher (p 0.05) than those of the ED20 and ED10 rations, which were homogeneous (p 0.05). This study set out to systematically investigate the structural characteristics of plane electrohydrodynamic jets through the particle image velocimetry(PIV)*** to the wide range of applied voltages and electrode gaps under various experimental conditions,an assessment of the image quality and a statistical analysis of the velocity fields are first performed to ensure the validity of the PIV measurements,which were originally applied purely to fluid *** results indicate that the time interval between two consecutive images should be pre-adjusted to reduce the number of uncorrelated vector ***,the minimum number of instantaneous fields should be achieved for an accurate calculation of the time-averaged *** equivalent electric field criterion adapted to the asymmetric electrode configuration is defined to find similarities in flow structures under different voltage and electrode gap *** the applied electric field increases,three injection regimes are identified and the current increases almost linearly,indicating a large conduction current *** decrease in charge density due to recombination proves to be relevant in all cases of this *** to the parametric analysis approach for classical jets and thermal plumes,the evolution of the coefficients of axial velocity,half-width and turbulence intensity are investigated.

Optimization of conditions for supercritical fluid extraction of flavonoids from hops (Humulus lupulus L.)

Waste hops are good sources of flavonoids. Extraction of flavonoids from waste hops (SC-CO2 extracted hops) using supercritical fluids technology was investigated. Various temperatures, pressures and concentrations of ethanol (modifier) and the ratio (w/w) of solvent to material were tested in this study. The results of single factor and orthogonal experiments showed that at 50 °C, 25 MPa, the ratio of solvent to material (50%), ethanol concentration (80%) resulted in maximum extraction yield fla- vonoids (7.8 mg/g). HPLC-MS analysis of the extracts indicated that flavonoids obtained were xanthohumol, the principal prenylflavonoid in hops.

Growing Sandpile Problem with Local and Non-Local Boundaries Conditions

In this paper, we study a class of Prigozhin equation for growing sandpile problem subject to local and a non-local boundary condition. The problem is a generalized model for a growing sandpile problem with Neumann boundary condition (see [1]). By the semi-group theory, we prove the existence and uniqueness of the solution for the model and thanks to a duality method we do the numerical analysis of the problem. We finish our work by doing numerical simulations to validate our theoretical results.

Assessment of Physicochemical and Nutritional Characteristics of Sclerocarya birrea A. Almonds and Oil from Burkina Faso

Sclerocarya birrea fruits and almonds are used in human nutrition and are a source of income for the rural population of Burkina Faso. The aim of this study was to evaluate the physico-chemical and nutritional characteristics of Sclerocarya birrea A. rich (Anacardiaceae) almonds from Burkina Faso. Fresh ripe fruits of Sclerocarya birrea were collected in three regions of Burkina Faso: the North, the Mouhoun loop and the Hauts-Bassins. The physicochemical parameters of almonds and oil extracted from almonds were determined using AOAC methods. Amino acids were measured by HPLC and minerals by atomic absorption spectrometry. The results show that Sclerocarya birrea almonds have a moisture of 4.16% ± 0.40% with 4.47% ± 0.20% total ash;28.89% ± 2.08% protein;56.46% ± 2.36% total fat and 10.18% ± 2.14% carbohydrates. Amino acid profile showed that almonds contain all the essential amino acids, with high levels of histidine and phenylalanine. Total ash analyzed consists mainly of calcium (192.85 ± 169.17 mg/100g), potassium (806.71 ± 324.48 mg/100g), magnesium (386.57 ± 176.03 mg/100g) and sodium (28.68 ± 20.55 mg/100g), with a Na/K ratio of 0.03 ± 0.01. Almonds also contain iron (3.33 ± 1.50 mg/100g) and zinc (6.46 ± 3.06 mg/100g). Sclerocarya birrea oil has a refractive index at 20˚C of 1.46 ± 0.00, an iodine value of 25.40 ± 3.18 g I2/100g and a saponification value of 190.29 ± 10.25 mg KOH/g. S. birrea almonds of Burkina Faso are a source of protein, lipids, carbohydrates, minerals and essential amino acids for the diet and deserve to be developed.

Objective: To evaluate the anthelmintic property of Saba senegalensis(***) Pichon(Apocynaceae)(S. senegalensis) on Haemonchus contortus that is traditionally used in Burkina Faso for its gastrointestinal parasites ***: The lyophilized aqueous decoction of leaves of S. senegalensis at concentrations of 0.10, 1.00, 3.00, 10.00 and 15.00 mg/m L was used on eggs and adult worms of Haemonchus contortus collected from gastrointestinal tract of small ***: The LC_(50) on adult worms was 6.79 mg/m L and 3.25 mg/m L for the leaves of S. senegalensis and the levamisole(reference drug), respectively. Inhibition of hatching assay showed a concentration-dependent manner with an inhibition of 93.63% at the concentration of 15.00 mg/m L of S. ***: These results indicate that the aqueous extract of S. senegalensis possesses an anthelmintic property and may justify its use in traditional medicine for the treatment of gastrointestinal parasites.

Deterministic and Stochastic Schistosomiasis Models with General Incidence

In this paper, deterministic and stochastic models for schistosomiasis involving four sub-populations are developed. Conditions are given under which system exhibits thresholds behavior. The disease-free equilibrium is globally asymptotically stable if R0 ?and the unique endemic equilibrium is globally asymptotically stable when R0 >?1. The populations are computationally simulated under various conditions. Comparisons are made between the deterministic and the stochastic model.
