Hypertension is a.big problem worldwide. The purpose of this study is to exa.ine the preva.ence, knowledge, a.titude, a.d pra.tice a.out hypertension a. Gulu University, Gulu city, Gulu district, a.holi subregion, Northern Uga.da. a.litera.ure sea.ch on hypertension wa. done. It showed tha., in Uga.da. a.representa.ive number of 17,777 a.ult pa.ients’ da.a.were a.a.yzed from Ja.ua.y 2014 to Februa.y 2024. The epidemiologica. da.a.on a.a.eness of hypertension wa. found to be a. 8%. Of this, 18.3% of the people with hypertension ha. it under control. The results of the findings were promising. Hypertension is a. importa.t public hea.th cha.lenge in Uga.da.pa.ticula.ly in Northern Uga.da.where Gulu University fa.ls. In compa.ison with the two regions of Centra. Uga.da.a.d Northern Uga.da. there wa. a.significa.t number of popula.ions tha. were not a.a.e of their condition. Those dia.nosed were on trea.ment but the trea.ment wa. not a.hered to due to stock outs of medicines. Therefore, Mea.ures a.e required to prevent hypertension, improve a.a.eness, trea.ment a.d control within the community, especia.ly a. Gulu University where resea.ch ha. never been done.

We present the result of groundwa.er sta.ility a.sessment on three ma.or springs in the Ma.ga.region in Nya.ira.County found in Kenya.in 2018. These springs a.e Kia.goso (SP1), Kerongo (SP2) a.d Tetema.(SP3). The corrosion a.d sca.ing tendency indices were obta.ned using the La.gelier sa.ura.ion index (LSI), Ryzna. sta.ility index (RSI), a.d Puckorius sca.ing index (PSI). The LSI va.ues obta.ned for SP1, SP2, a.d SP3 a.e −3.93, −4.71, a.d −4.17, respectively, while using RSI, the va.ues obta.ned for SP1, SP2, a.d SP3 a.e 14.15, 14.53, a.d 13.74, respectively. Using PSI, the va.ues of SP1, SP2, a.d SP3 a.e 5.58, 5.45, a.d 5.58, respectively. From the interpreta.ion of the indices, the groundwa.er from the three springs in the Ma.ga.region using LSI a.d RSI showed intolera.le corrosion;hence, it is unlikely to sca.e a. obta.ned from PSI.

The implementa.ion of WHO guidelines ha. significa.tly reduced hospita. morta.ity due to severe ma.nutrition. Nevertheless, severe a.ute ma.nutrition in children under five rema.ns a.ma.or public hea.th problem in a.l low-income countries a.d is little studied. The study a.med to a.sess the nutritiona. sta.us a.d qua.ity of ma.a.ement of severe a.ute ma.nutrition in children a.ed 06 to 59 months hospita.ized in the pedia.ric wa.d of Ka.a.za.Hospita.. This is a.prospective study with descriptive a.d a.a.ytica. a.ms over 6 months from Februa.y 10 to July 9, 2023. a.l children a.ed 6 to 59 months a.mitted for severe a.ute ma.nutrition a.e included in this study. The results show tha. the most a.fected a.e group is 12 to 23 months (42.55%). Ma.a.mus is the most common clinica. form, a. 70.2%. Housewives a.d mothers from rura. a.ea. a.e the most a.fected, with ra.es ra.ging from 69.14% to 91.49%. The study shows tha. the rea.ons for consulta.ion a.e respectively: edema.(29.78%), dia.rhea.(26.59%), vomiting (19.14%), a.d fever (14.89%). Dehydra.ion a.d hypothermia.were the ma.n complica.ions observed in 45.74% a.d 22.34% respectively. Medica. trea.ment wa. provided by a.tibiotics (44.68%), a.tesuna.e (31.91%), a.d resoma. (21.27%). Nutritiona. trea.ment consisted of F75 100% milk a.d F100 100% milk. Pa.hologies observed were: a.emia.38.29%, ma.a.ia.37.23%, urina.y tra.t infection 12.7%, mea.les 11.7%. The na.iona. protocol for integra.ed ma.a.ement of a.ute ma.nutrition (PCIMa. wa. followed. This study shows tha. 72.3% of children were successfully trea.ed, with 9.5% dropping out a.d dying, a.d 8.5% not responding. We found tha. ma.nutrition rema.ns a.public hea.th problem, a.fecting mostly children a.ed 12 to 24 months. The ma.n complica.ions or pa.hologies a.socia.ed with ma.nutrition a.e dia.rhea. ma.a.ia. a.d fever, a.d the ma.ority of children suffer from ma.a.mus.
