Investigating environmental quality among g20 nations: the impacts of environmental goods and low-carbon technologies in mitigating environmental degradation

Environmental goods and low-carbon technologies have long been identified as having the potential to drive long-term economic progress without compromising environmental quality. However, their exact role in mitigating environmental degradation are yet to be unravelled. In addressing this shortfall, the extant literature relied on research funding and patent application as proxies for green technologies. Having established the weaknesses in the use of these variables as proxies for green technologies, this study explored the role of trade in environmental goods and low-carbon technologies in boosting environmental quality among g20 nation using a panel dataset from 1994 to 2018. the study employed the Method of Moment quantile regression for the model estimation and the Ridge regression, Discroll-Kraay standard error, and the Newey-West standard error estimators to test the robustness of our findings. Our findings indicate that whereas environmental goods promote environmental quality, low-carbon technologies decrease same. Also, the study found economic growth to exert an aggravating effect on environmental quality, while foreign direct investments, natural resource rents, human capital development, and renewable energy consumption exert positive influence on environmental quality. Based on the findings of the study, g20 nations are encouraged to improve green market structures to improve the trade in environmental goods and low-carbon technologies. Also the share of renewable energy sources in the overall energy basket must be improved to help improve environmental quality.

Purpose: to predict the diagnostic performance of combined use of t2-weighted imaging (t2W)-diffusion weighted MRI (DWI) and apparent diffusion coefficient (ADC)-proton MR spectroscopy (H-MRs) for the detection of prostate cancer, correlated to histopathology as the reference standard. Method: After institutional review board approval, 40 patients with prostate cancer were included in this retrospective research. two readers evaluated the results of t2W, DWI-ADC mapping and H-MRs independently for the depiction of prostate cancer. Reference standard was the tRUs-guided biopsy and the surgical histopathological results. statistical analysis was assessed by Fisher’s exact t-test, Wilcoxon signed rank test, variance analysis test with Kappa (k) values and receiver operating characteristics (ROC) curve for ADC values, Cho/Cit and Cho + Cre/Cit ratios for each observer. Results: Both readers declined 46% sensitivity and 68% specificity for t2W sequence, 29% sensitivity and 82% specificity for DWI-ADC mapping and 49% specificity for Cho/Cit and Cho + Cre/Cit ratios, 69% sensitivity for Cho/Cit 70% sensitivity for Cho + Cre/Cit ratios of H-MRs. t2W + DWI-ADC mapping + H-MRs (Cho/Cit and Cho + Cre/Cit ratios) regarded 81% sensitivity and 66% specificity, with significant statistical differences to the reference histopathology (p 0.05). Conclusion: Combination of t2W, DWI and H-MRs were more sensitive and more accurate than either sequences alone, for prostate cancer localization and detection.

the turkish economy has been facing account deficit problems in recent years and tourism revenues play an important role in financing this deficit. tourism revenues are affected by exchange rate volatility and the effects of exchange rate volatility on tourism revenues need to be researched. the purpose of this study is to examine the effects of exchange rate volatility on tourism revenues. these effects were analyzed by using multivariate co-integration model and monthly data from January 2003 to December 2011. Findings suggest that exchange rate volatility has a negative effect on tourism revenues. Additionally, a weak relationship was detected in the long term between exchange rate and tourism revenues.

the aim of this study was to compare the effects of different porcelain polishing techniques on the color change and surface roughness of feldspathic porcelains and lithium disilicate glass-ceramic system. 80 porcelain specimens were divided into two subgroups, each subgroup was divided into 4 groups of 10 specimens. surfaces were polished with different ceramic polishers. VItA Easyshade spectrophotometer was used to measure color differences. surface roughness was evaluated using a profilometer. the color change and surface roughness of porcelains were statistically analyzed by two-way ANOVA followed by a tukey HsD test (α = 05). there were relationships between the porcelain systems and polishing techniques (p 0.05). For △E values, there was relationship between the porcelain systems and polishing techniques (p 0.05). Chairside porcelain polishing systems were not able to provide a porcelain surface as smooth as the glazed surface for the IPs empress and Ceramco 3 porcelains.

Wastewater of hospitals contains materials that would be a threat to alive. these water needs to be checked by a biological purification before leaving to nature. Hospital wastewater has differences than domestic waste because of especially blood, body waste, drugs, chemicals, medical device waste and radioactive materials. We aimed to determine genotoxic effects of total pollution in hospital wastewater on alive by salmonella microsome test method. In this study, we decided on three hospitals which weren’t checked as biological purification of waste. the samples were taken for six 1-week periods between March 2009 and June 2009. Mutagenite studies of samples taken from hospitals were made with ,salmonella typhimurium tA 98 and tA 100. Wastewater samples were evaporated. 27 different test materials were prepared using DMsO, ethanol and acetone solvents, two different MgA plaques were used for each test material. Each experiment was made for 3 times with known results of mutagens and we made it ready for “Ames” test method. We had genotoxicity 50% in Istanbul University Medical Faculty Hospital, 56% in Haseki Hospital and 61% in Vak?f gureba Hospital. According to three hospitals result there are 9 positives, 9 negatives in DMsO;9 positives, 9 negatives in ethanol;12 positives, 6 negatives in acetone. these values are totally 56%. Our results give important information about mutagenic effect of total pollution in hospital wastewater. It is first time researched in turkey that effect on DNA of pollution is from hospital wastewaters. In prospective studies, it is necessary to use this system as a method to monitor mutagenic genotoxic pollution in hospital wastewaters. these kinds of studies present applicability and importance of our method because of placing in the literature. Method constitutes a new approach to check mutagenite of pollution in hospital wastewater.
