Bioactive compounds in plants are associated with the reduction of chronic diseases. The free radical scavenging activity of different extracts of a medicinal plant, Sclerocarya birrea, has been investigated using the DPPH test, ABTS test and FRAP. Three extracts were prepared from the leaves and bark: hydro-methanolic, hydro-acetonic and aqueous. Phytochemical screening was carried out the standard methods followed by the determination of the polyphenol by Folin-Ciocalteu method. The analysis of variance (ANOVA) with the STATISTICA 7.1 and statistical significance was set at p 0.05. Evolution of percent inhibition (PI) as well as the IC50 of the extracts was obtained using the Origin Pro 8.5 software and Microsoft Excel. The results show that the bark extracts

Introduction: Benign prostatic hypertrophy and inguinal hernia are related and frequent pathologies in people over 50 years old. Their incidence is 15% to 25% according to the literature. The occurrence of hernia during benign prostatic hyperplasia is favored by disorders of the lower urinary tract. Simultaneous single-stage treatment of these two pathologies makes it possible to obtain satisfactory results that can reduce the cost of hospital stay and the multiple risk of anesthesia. The aim of our study was to: 1) Report the epidemiological, anatomo-clinical and para-clinical aspects of hernias during benign prostatic hypertrophy;2) Evaluate the feasibility and the results of the combined treatment of inguinal hernia and prostatic adenectomy in a single operation. Patients and Method: This was a retrospective descriptive study over a period of 7 years from March 2014 to February 2021, including patients operated on simultaneously at the University Hospital of Abeche for inguinal hernia and benign prostatic hypertrophy. The variables studied were: age, antecedents, favouring factors, clinical symptomatology, para-clinical elements, treatments and results: Results: 356 patients underwent surgery for benign prostatic hyperplasia, 36 of whom had an associated inguinal hernia. The mean age was 65.5 years, ranging from 50 to 93 years. The main reason for consultation was chronic urinary retention. The average consultation time was 10.2 months. The inguinal hernia was located on the right in 51% of cases and on the left in 18.4%. The mean prostatic volume measured by suprapubic ultrasound was 60.5 ± 25 cc. 14% and 10.2% of patients respectively were found to have struggle bladder and bilateral ureterohydronephrosis. Transvesical suprapubic adenectomy of the prostate was performed in all patients. The Bassini technique was the most commonly used (91%) for hernia repair. The average hospital stay was 7.5 days. Introduction: In malaria-endemic areas, acute renal failure (ARF) is one of the most serious complications, it occurs in 40% of severe forms of malaria in adults and is linked to 75% of deaths, especially when extra-renal cleaning is not available. In children, studies of ARF during malaria are limited. We have no published studies on this topic in Niger. The main objective of our study is to evaluate the prognosis of ARF during severe malaria in children. Patients and Method: This is a one-year prospective study (January 1, 2016 to December 31, 2016) conducted in the resuscitation unit of the pediatric department of the National Lamordé Hospital of Niamey (Niger). We included in the study children aged 0 to 15 years hospitalized for severe malaria with impaired renal function. Patients who had chronic renal failure or who had acute renal failure with a thick negative drop were excluded from the study. Acute renal failure is defined according to Kidney Disease Improving Global Outcomes (KDIGO) criteria basing on creatinine clearance. Results: The incidence of ARF was 12.60%. The mean age of the patients was 4.25 ± 1.3 years [8 months - 15 years]. The mean hemoglobin level was 8.2 ± 2.7 g/dl. In 54.02% of cases, the hemoglobin level is ≤5 g/dl. Mean serum creatinine was 543.7 ± 69.5 μmol/l [107 - 2500 μmol/l] and mean azotemia was 27.5 ± 3.5 mmol/l. Severe anemia (54.02%) were more related to the occurrence of ARF(with p = 0.014). According to the RIFLE classification, 55 patients (63.22%) were in the Risk stage, 18 patients (20.69%) were in the injury stage and 14 patients (16.09%) in the failure stage. All patients were placed on injectable Artesunate. The average length of hospital stay was 8.6 ± 4.5 days [5 to 22 days]. Dialysis was reported in 15/87 (17.24%). For technical and financial reasons only 8 patients were hemodialysed. Purpose: To conduct a study of epidemiological, diagnostic and therapeutic aspects of urethral strictures at Yalgado Ouedraogo University Teaching Hospital. Patients and methods: It was about a retrospective and descriptive study conducted in the urology division of Yalgado Ouedraogo Hospital from October 1st 2009 to September 30th 2014. All the patients, included in this study, had a urethral stricture confirmed by the voiding retrograde cystourethrogram (VCUG) or during surgical intervention with useful surgical report and medical file. Results: During the period of study, 127 complete medical records were found. The hospital prevalence was 10.1%. The average age of the patients was 50.5 (from 3 to 80 years). 55.6% of the patients were from rural areas. Dysuria and urinary retention were the major causes of consultation with respectively 66.7% and 33.3%. The aetiology of urethral stricture was infectious in 71.4% of the cases. The VCUG permitted to objectify the characteristics of the stenosis. The urethral stenoses were single in the majority of the cases, about 88.8% of cases. The bulbar urethral stricture was the major location. Escherichia coli was isolated in 77.7% of the urinary infections. The majority of patients (61.9%) had undergone open surgery including 39.7% end to end anastomosis. No endoscopic treatment was recorded. Conclusion: The urethral stenosis is frequent in our division. Its major aetiology is infectious. The treatment is dominated by open surgery in our context.

The Environmental Impact of Polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbons: Mechanism of Extraction by Bio-Surfactant in a Microwave

In N’Djaména, the use and marketing of certain hydrocarbons does not comply with any standard in force or with regulations provided for this purpose. Their evaporation and unregulated release into the wild significantly affects the ecosystem. The present work consists in developing a method of extraction from sediments polluted by bio surfactant (rhamnolipid) assisted by microwaves. The goal here is to look for the presence of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons in polluted sediments. The rhamnolipid used consists of monorhamnolipids and di-rhamnolipids, its emulsion index is 64.66% and is composed of saturated and unsaturated fatty acids having carbon numbers ranging from 12 to 18. We used the microwave micellar extraction process. It was made by keeping the concentration values fixed at 0.15 g/L and the power at 400 W and more. We observed a positive interaction of the rhamnolipid concentration factors and the power of the microwave to obtain the optimal conditions at the time of 50 S, at the concentration of 0.16 g/L and at the power of 443 W for a rate of optimal extraction of 0.91%. Chromatographic analysis by GC-MS of the optimum extracts allowed us to identify twelve (12) C10 to C43 n-alkanes and eight (8) PAHs. It emerges from this analysis that the rhamnolipid extracts seven (7) Polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbons in equivalent proportions while the tween 80 extracts only four (4) Polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbons with a high proportion (80.02%) of benzo [a] antracene.

The Sa'al Metamorphic Complex(SMC;southern Sinai)encompasses the oldest arc rocks in the Arabian–Nubian Shield,comprising two non-consanguineous metavolcanic successions(the Agramiya Group and the Post-Ra'ayan Formation)separated by the metasediments of the Ra'ayan *** experienced three distinct deformational events(D_(1)–D_(3))and two low-medium grade regional metamorphic events(M_1–M_(2)).The Agramiya Group and the Ra'ayan Formation experienced all tectonometamorphic events(D_1–D_(3)and M_(1)–M_(2)),whereas the Post-Ra'ayan volcanic rocks were only affected by the D_(3)and M_(2)events.D_(1)is an extensional event and is connected to the late Rodinia break-up(~Tonian;900–870 Ma).The M_(1)metamorphism variably affected the older Agramiya Group,the rhyolitic tuffs experiencing lower to upper greenschist facies conditions and the basic and intermediate volcanic rocks undergoing amphibolite facies *** Ra'ayan Formation metasediments experienced upper greenschist to amphibolite facies *** upper greenschist facies M_(2)affected the youngest Post-Ra'ayan volcanic rocks and other stratigraphic *** compressive D_(2)and D_(3)events were coeval with the accretion of dismembered terranes in the assembly of Gondwana.D_(2)can be linked to the Tonian–Cryogenian arc-arc assembly(~880–760 Ma;in Elat and Sinai),whereas D_(3)and the accompanying M_(2)is constrained to 622–600 Ma(Ediacaran).

We discuss existence and multiplicity results for classes of f with a) fi > 0, b) fi fi = 0. We base our presence and multiple outcomes via the Sub-solutions method. The statistical study of F2 layer critical frequency at Dakar station from 1971 to 1996 is carried out. This paper shows foF2 statistical diurnal for all geomagnetic activities and all seasons and that during solar maximum and minimum phases. It emerges that foF2 diurnal variation graphs at Dakar station exhibits the different types of foF2 profiles in African EIA regions. The type of profile depends on solar activity, season and solar phase. During solar minimum and under quiet time condition, data show?the signature of a strength electrojet that is coupled with intense counter electrojet in the afternoon. Under disturbed conditions,?mean intense electrojet is observed in winter?during fluctuating and recurrent activities. Intense counter electrojet is seen under fluctuating and shock activities in all seasons coupled with strength electrojet in autumn. In summer?and spring under all geomagnetic activity condition, there is intense counter electrojet. During solar maximum, in summer and spring there is no electrojet under geomagnetic activity conditions.?Winter shows a mean intense electrojet. Winter and autumn are marked by the signature of the reversal electric field.

Introduction: Lyell’s syndrome (SL), called Toxic Epidermal Necrolysis is one of the most serious forms of medication accidents. It is an acute, rare pathology, its incidence is estimated at 1 to 2 cases out of one million inhabitants per year and its evolution can be fatal. Materials and Methods: We report the observation of a 60-year-old patient, with no significant pathological history, admitted to our intensive care unit at the Renaissance University Teaching Hospital in N’Djamena for the treatment of Toxic Epidermal Necrolysis. In whom the onset of symptoms dates back to few hours after vaccination against COVID-19 with Ag Johnson and Johnson. Results: An ophthalmology opinion was requested and the patient was put on Fucithalmic. In our case, in addition to the advanced age of the patient (60 years old), her SCORTEN was ≥5. Conclusion: The late management as well as the absence of a specific department for severe burns, which condition the presence of a technical plate was fatal to her despite multidisciplinary care: Resuscitators, Traumato-Orthopedist and ophthalmologist.
