Prediction of the burden of road traffic injuries in Iran by 2030: Prevalence, death,and disability-adjusted life years

Purpose:Road traffic accidents pose a global challenge with substantial human and economic *** a high incidence of road traffic injuries,leading to a significant burden on *** studyaims to predict the future burden of road traffic injuries in Iran until 2030,providing valuable insights forpolicy-making and interventions to improve road safety and reduce the associated human and ***:This analytical study utilized time series models,specifically autoregressive integrated movingaverage(ARImA)and artificial neural networks(ANNs),to predict the burden of road traffic accidents byanalyzing past data to identify patterns and trends in Iran until *** required data related toprevalence,death,and disability-adjusted life years(DALYs)rates were collected from the Institute forHealth metrics and Evaluation database and analyzed using R software and relevant modeling andstatistical analysis ***:Both prediction models,ARImA and ANNs indicate that the prevalence rates(per 100,000)of allroad traffic injuries,except for motorcyclist road injuries which have an almost flat trend,remaining ataround 430,increase by *** on estimations of both models,the rates of death and DALYs due tomotor vehicle and pedestrian road traffic injuries *** motor vehicle road injuries,estimatedtrends decrease to approximately 520 DALYs and 10 ***,for pedestrian road injuries these ratesreached approximately 300 DALYs and 6 deaths,according to the *** cyclists and other roadtraffic injuries,the predicted DALY rates by the ANN model increase to almost 50 and 8,while predictionsconducted by the ARImA model show a static trend,remaining at 40 and approximately ***,these rates for the prediction of death rate by the ANN model increased to 0.6 and 0.1,while predictionsconducted by the ARImA model show a static trend,remaining at 0.43 and *** to the ANNmodel,the predicted rates of DALY and death for m

High-Performance Flow Classification of Big Data Using Hybrid CPU-GPU Clusters of Cloud Environments

The network switches in the data plane of Software Defined Networking (SDN) are empowered by an elementary process, in which enormous number of packets which resemble big volumes of data are classified into specific flows by matching them against a set of dynamic rules. This basic process accelerates the processing of data, so that instead of processing singular packets repeatedly, corresponding actions are performed on corresponding flows of packets. In this paper, first, we address limitations on a typical packet classification algorithm like Tuple Space Search (TSS). Then, we present a set of different scenarios to parallelize it on different parallel processing platforms, including Graphics Processing Units (GPUs), clusters of Central Processing Units (CPUs), and hybrid clusters. Experimental results show that the hybrid cluster provides the best platform for parallelizing packet classification algorithms, which promises the average throughput rate of 4.2 million packets per second (mpps). That is, the hybrid cluster produced by the integration of Compute Unified Device Architecture (CUDA), message Passing Interface (mPI), and OpenmP programming model could classify 0.24 million packets per second more than the GPU cluster scheme. Such a packet classifier satisfies the required processing speed in the programmable network systems that would be used to communicate big medical data.

Seismic control of multi-degrees-of-freedom structures by vertical mass isolation method using mR dampers

Vertical mass isolation(VmI)is one of the novel methods for the seismic control of *** this method,the entire structure is assumed to consist of two mass and stiffness subsystems,and an isolated layer is located among *** this study,the magnetorheological damper in three modes:passive-off,passive-on,and semi-active mode with variable voltage between zero and 9 volts was used as an isolated layer between two ***-degrees-of-freedom structures with 5,10,and 15 floors in two dimensions were examined under 11 pairs of near field *** each level,the displacement of mR dampers was taken into *** responses of maximum displacement,maximum inter-story drift,and maximum base shear in controlled and uncontrolled buildings were compared to assess the suggested approach for seismic control of the *** to the results,the semi-active control method can reduce the response by more than 12%compared to the uncontrolled mode in terms of maximum displacement of the mass subsystem of the *** method can reduce more than 16%and 20%of the responses compared to the uncontrolled mode in terms of maximum inter-story drift and base shear of the structure,respectively.

An Improved Binary Quantum-based Avian Navigation Optimizer Algorithm to Select Effective Feature Subset from medical Data:A COVID-19 Case Study

Feature Subset Selection(FSS)is an NP-hard problem to remove redundant and irrelevant features particularly from medical data,and it can be effectively addressed by metaheuristic ***,existing binary versions of metaheuristic algorithms have issues with convergence and lack an effective binarization method,resulting in suboptimal solutions that hinder diagnosis and prediction *** paper aims to propose an Improved Binary Quantum-based Avian Navigation Optimizer Algorithm(IBQANA)for FSS in medical data preprocessing to address the suboptimal solutions arising from binary versions of metaheuristic *** proposed IBQANA’s contributions include the Hybrid Binary Operator(HBO)and the Distance-based Binary Search Strategy(DBSS).HBO is designed to convert continuous values into binary solutions,even for values outside the[0,1]range,ensuring accurate binary *** the other hand,DBSS is a two-phase search strategy that enhances the performance of inferior search agents and accelerates *** combining exploration and exploitation phases based on an adaptive probability function,DBSS effectively avoids local *** effectiveness of applying HBO is compared with five transfer function families and thresholding on 12 medical datasets,with feature numbers ranging from 8 to 10,***'s effectiveness is evaluated regarding the accuracy,fitness,and selected features and compared with seven binary metaheuristic ***,IBQANA is utilized to detect *** results reveal that the proposed IBQANA outperforms all comparative algorithms on COVID-19 and 11 other medical *** proposed method presents a promising solution to the FSS problem in medical data preprocessing.

Computational calculations using density functional theory(DFT) were performed for the first time using the full potential linearized augmented plane wave plus local orbital method(FP-LAPW + LO) to determine the structural, elastic, electronic and magnetic properties of europium-based cubic perovskites EuYO_(3)(Y=Cr, mn, Fe). The exchange correlation potentials of GGA along with some analytical methods were adopted for the computation of structural and elastic properties. moreover, the GGA + U formalism was also added for obtaining more precise electronic and magnetic properties, particularly to address the Eu-4f and Y-3d orientations in the spin-polarized double cell symmetry. The observed lattice parameters of these compounds are consistent with experiment. The observed bulk moduli predict that EuCrO_(3) is harder and less compressible than EumnO_(3) and EuFeO_(3). The calculated tolerance factors of these compounds are within the cubic symmetry range. Our computed critical radius of EuCrO_(3) shows that EuCrO_(3) has a larger migration energy. Based on their elastic properties, these compounds are ductile in nature. We also computed the thermal properties of these compounds. The band structures and density of states show that these compounds are metallic in character. The lowest ground state energy and magnetic moments of these compounds expose their ferromagnetic nature. The metallic nature and strong ferromagnetism of these compounds make them promising applicants for application in spintronic.

The Whale Optimization Algorithm(WOA)is a swarm intelligence metaheuristic inspired by the bubble-net hunting tactic of humpback *** spite of its popularity due to simplicity,ease of implementation,and a limited number of parameters,WOA’s search strategy can adversely affect the convergence and equilibrium between exploration and exploitation in complex *** address this limitation,we propose a new algorithm called multi-trial Vector-based Whale Optimization Algorithm(mTV-WOA)that incorporates a Balancing Strategy-based Trial-vector Producer(BS_TVP),a Local Strategy-based Trial-vector Producer(LS_TVP),and a Global Strategy-based Trial-vector Producer(GS_TVP)to address real-world optimization problems of varied degrees of ***-WOA has the potential to enhance exploitation and exploration,reduce the probability of being stranded in local optima,and preserve the equilibrium between exploration and *** the purpose of evaluating the proposed algorithm's performance,it is compared to eight metaheuristic algorithms utilizing CEC 2018 test ***,mTV-WOA is compared with well-stablished,recent,and WOA variant *** experimental results demonstrate that mTV-WOA surpasses comparative algorithms in terms of the accuracy of the solutions and convergence ***,we conducted the Friedman test to assess the gained results statistically and observed that mTV-WOA significantly outperforms comparative ***,we solved five engineering design problems to demonstrate the practicality of *** results indicate that the proposed mTV-WOA can efficiently address the complexities of engineering challenges and provide superior solutions that are superior to those of other algorithms.

Effects of different friction stir welding conditions on the microstructure and mechanical properties of copper plates

Friction stir welding is a new and innovative welding method used to fuse materials. In this welding method, the heat generated by friction and plastic flow causes significant changes in the microstructure of the material, which leads to local changes in the mechanical properties of the weld. In this study, the effects of various welding parameters such as the rotational and traverse speeds of the tool on the microstructural and mechanical properties of copper plates were investigated; additionally, Charpy tests were performed on copper plates for the first time. Also, the effect of the number of welding passes on the aforementioned properties has not been investigated in previous studies. The results indicated that better welds with superior properties are produced when less heat is transferred to the workpiece during the welding process. It was also found that although the properties of the stir zone improved with an increasing number of weld passes, the properties of its weakest zone, the heat-affected zone, deteriorated.

molecular dynamics investigation of mechanical properties of single-layer phagraphene

Phagraphene is a very attractive two-dimensional (2D) full carbon allotrope with very interesting mechanical, electronic, optical, and thermal properties. The objective of this study is to investigate the mechanical properties of this new graphene like 2D material. In this work, mechanical properties of phagraphene have been studied not only in the defect-free form, but also with the critical defect of line cracks, using the classical molecular dynamics simulations. Our study shows that the pristine phagraphene in zigzag direction experience a ductile behavior under uniaxial tensile loading and the nanosheet in this direction are less sensitive to temperature changes as compared to the armchair direction. We studied different crack lengths to explore the in fluence of defects on the mechanical properties of phagraphene. We also investigated the temperature effect on the mechanical properties of pristine and defective phagraphene. Our classical atomistic simulation results confirm that larger cracks can reduce the strength of the phagraphene. moreover, it was shown the temperature has a considerable weakening effect on the tensile strength of phagraphene. The results of this study may be useful for the design of nano-devices using the phagraphene.

Soil erosion is a crucial geo-environmental hazard worldwide that affects water quality and agriculture,decreases reservoir storage capacity due to sedimentation,and increases the danger of flooding and ***,this study uses geospatial modeling to produce soil erosion susceptibility maps(SESm)for the Hangu region,Khyber Pakhtunkhwa(KPK),*** Hangu region,located in the Kohat Plateau of KPK,Pakistan,is particularly susceptible to soil erosion due to its unique geomorphological and climatic ***,the Hangu region is characterized by a combination of steep slopes,variable rainfall patterns,diverse land use,and distinct soil types,all of which contribute to the complexity and severity of soil erosion *** factors necessitate a detailed and region-specific study to develop effective soil conservation *** this research,we detected and mapped 1013 soil erosion points and prepared 12 predisposing factors(elevation,aspect,slope,Normalized Differentiate Vegetation Index(NDVI),drainage network,curvature,Land Use Land Cover(LULC),rainfall,lithology,contour,soil texture,and road network)of soil erosion using GIS ***,GIS-based statistical models like the weight of evidence(WOE)and frequency ratio(FR)were applied to produce the SESm for the study *** SESm was reclassified into four classes,i.e.,low,medium,high,and very high *** results of WOE for SESm show that 16.39%,33.02%,29.27%,and 21.30%of areas are covered by low,medium,high,and very high zones,*** contrast,the FR results revealed that 16.50%,24.33%,35.55%,and 23.59%of the areas are occupied by low,medium,high,and very high ***,the reliability of applied models was evaluated using the Area Under Curve(AUC)*** validation results utilizing the area under curve showed that the success rate curve(SRC)and predicted rate curve(PRC)for WOE are 82%and 86%,respectively,while SRC and PRC for FR are 85%and 96%,res
