Synapsin Polymorphisms Could Be Correlated with Stroop Simple Reaction Time Scores

Objective: The aim of this study was to research the relationship between Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) and the synapsin III -196G>A and -631C>G polymorphisms and study their impact on neurocognition and behavior in Turkish children and adolescents. Methods: A total of 201 ADHD-diagnosed children and 100 control subjects aged between 8 and 15 years were recruited, and genetic material was obtained from saliva. In the diagnostic assessments, the KSADS- PL semi-structured interview was applied. Children with any comorbid psychiatric diagnosis (with the exclusion of oppositional defiant disorder (ODD)), medical conditions, prior psychotropic drug use history or IQ score below 80 were excluded. For the behavioral and ADHD symptom assessments, the Turgay DSM-IV Disruptive Behaviors Rating Scale, Teacher Report Form (TRF) and Child Behavior Checklist (CBCL) were completed by the parents and teachers. Neurocognitive profiles were evaluated with the CNS-Vital Signs computerized neurocognitive test battery. Results: No significant difference in ADHD prevalence was observed between subjects with the synapsin III gene -196G>A polymorphism and -631C>G polymorphisms. These polymorphisms were also not associated with subtypes of ADHD. We found a relationship between both polymorphisms and Stroop simple reaction time. Conclusion: Synapsin’s effect could be limited during childhood, but synapsin polymorphisms could be associated with Stroop simple reaction time.

In this article,two different methods,namely sub-equation method and residual power series method,have been used to obtain new exact and approximate solutions of the generalized Hirota-Satsuma system of equations,which is a coupled KdV *** fractional derivative is taken in the conformable *** of the obtained exact solutions were checked by substituting them into the corresponding system with the help of Maple symbolic computation *** results indicate that both methods are easy to implement,effective and *** are therefore ready to apply for various partial fractional differential equations.

Cobalt-based alloy(Co-30Cr-5.5Mo)is produced by the investment casting *** alloy complies with the ASTM F75 standard and is widely used in the manufacturing of orthopedic implants because of its high strength,good corrosion resistance and excellent biocompatibility ***,XRD and microhardness tests are used to examine the mechanical properties of the *** examined material exhibits the behaviour of indentation size effect(ISE).Our results reveal that Vickers and Knoop microhardness are dependent on indentation test *** traditional Meyer's law,the proportional specimen resistance(PSR)model and the Hays-Kendall model(HK)are used to analyze the load dependence of the *** a result,the Hays-Kendall model is found to be the most effective to determine the load-independent hardness HLI of CoCrMo alloy.

Changes of total antioxidant capacity and total oxidant status of aqueous humor in diabetes patients and correlations with diabetic retinopathy

AIM:To measure changes of total oxidant status(TOS)and total antioxidant capacity(TAC) of aqueous humor(AH) in diabetic retinopathy(DR) patients,and to determine if there were any differences in TOS and TAC of AH in diabetic patients without retinopathy compared with non-diabetic patients.·METHODS:One hundred and three eyes of 103patients who were enrolled for cataract surgery were included in this *** were grouped according to presence of diabetes and stage of *** to cataract surgery,0.1mL to 0.2mL of AH was aspirated and analyzed for TAC and TOS level using a colorimetric method.·RESULTS:TOS levels were highest among proliferative diabetic retinopathy(PDR) patients and lowest in patients with only *** were statistically significant between all groups(P <0.05).Whereas result between diabetic without retinopathy patients and non-proliferative diabetic retinopathy(NPDR) patients was not statistically significant(P =0.757).TAC levels were highest in patients with only cataract and lowest among PDR patients and results were statistically significant between all groups(P <0.05).·CONCLUSION:Aqueous humor TAC levels are low in diabetic patients and reduced further in DR patients,TOS levels are increased in diabetic patients and this is exacerbated in DR patients.

The Effects of Porcelain Polishing Techniques on the Color and Surface Texture of Different Porcelain Systems

The aim of this study was to compare the effects of different porcelain polishing techniques on the color change and surface roughness of feldspathic porcelains and lithium disilicate glass-ceramic system. 80 porcelain specimens were divided into two subgroups, each subgroup was divided into 4 groups of 10 specimens. Surfaces were polished with different ceramic polishers. VITA Easyshade spectrophotometer was used to measure color differences. Surface roughness was evaluated using a profilometer. The color change and surface roughness of porcelains were statistically analyzed by Two-way ANOVA followed by a Tukey HSD test (α = 05). There were relationships between the porcelain systems and polishing techniques (p 0.05). For △E values, there was relationship between the porcelain systems and polishing techniques (p 0.05). Chairside porcelain polishing systems were not able to provide a porcelain surface as smooth as the glazed surface for the IPS empress and Ceramco 3 porcelains.

BACKGROUND Hypoxic-ischemic encephalopathy(HIE)is a leading cause of morbidity and mortality in the adult as well as in the neonate,with limited options for treatment and significant *** To investigate the safety and preliminary efficacy of allogeneic mesenchymal stem cells(MSCs)in HIE *** Patients who had HIE for at least 6 mo along with significant dysfunction and disability were *** patients were given Wharton’s jelly-derived MSCs at 1×106/kg intrathecally,intravenously,and intramuscularly twice a month for two *** therapeutic effects and prognostic implications of MSCs were evaluated by multiple *** independence measure(FIM),modified Ashworth,and Karnofsky scales were used to assess any side effects,neurological and cognitive functions,and overall *** The 8 subjects included in the study had a mean age of 33.25±10.18 *** HIE exposure and mean post-HIE durations were 45.63±10.18 and 19.67±29.04 mo,*** FIM score was 18.38±1.06,mean modified Ashworth score was 43.5±4.63,and mean Karnofsky score was *** the first 24 h,5 of the patients experienced a subfebrile state,accompanied by mild headaches due to intrathecally administration and muscle pain because of intramuscularly *** and functional examinations,laboratory tests,electroencephalography,and magnetic resonance imaging were performed to assess safety of *** FIM score increased by 20.88±3.31 in the first month(P=0.027)and by 31.38±14.69 in 12 mo(P=0.012).The rate of patients with an FIM score of 126 increased from 14.58%to 16.57%in the first month and 24.90%in 12 *** Multiple triple-route Wharton’s jelly-derived MSC administrations were found to be safe for HIE patients,indicating neurological and functional *** on the findings obtained here,further randomized and placebo research could be performed.
