Gd3+-,Pr3+-or Sm3+-doped Co-Zn(Co0.5Zn0.5Fe2 O4)magnetic ferrites(i.e.,Co0.5Zn0.5Gd0.1Fe1.9O4,Co0.5Zn0.5Pr0.1Fe1.9O4 and Co0.5Zn0.5Sm0.1Fe1.9O4)were prepared using a facile sol-gel approach,and the structure,surface morphology and chemical composition of the products were studied by means of scanning electron microscopy(SEM),energy dispersive X-ray analysis(EDX),X-ray diffraction(XRD),UVvisible diffuse reflectance spectroscopy(DRS),photoluminescence(PL)spectroscopy,Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy(FT-IR)and vibrating sample magnetometer(VSM)*** patterns show the Co-Zn product is composed of cubic spinel phases with few impurities or secondary phases,and the average crystallite sizes of the samples are determined to be approximately^51—80,~99—181,~68—103 and^83—133 *** the coercivity and remnant and saturation magnetizations,evaluated by vibrating sample magnetometer(VSM),are found to increase linearly with the incorporation of Gd3+,Pr3+and Sm3+in the product *** CO1-xZnxFe2-yRyO4 photocatalyst sample is found to display a red shift in its absorption,and exhibits outstanding photocatalytic effects in the degradation of MO under ultraviolet(UV)*** is attributed to the reduction of the band gap of cobalt-zinc ferrite due to the presence of rare earth *** in vitro evaluations of the cytotoxic effects of the synthesized nanoparticles were performed on a HeLa cell line.

Hot deformation behavior of Fe-29Ni-17Co alloy

Hot compression tests were carried out on a Fe-29Ni-17Co alloy in the temperature range of 900 ℃ to 1200 ℃ and at strain rates of 0.001-1 s-1. Dynamic recrystallization was found responsible for flow softening during hot compression. The flow behavior was successfully analyzed by the hyperbolic sine equation and the corresponding material constants A, n and αwere determined. The value of apparent activation energy was determined as 423 kJ/mol. The peak and steady state strains showed simple power-law dependence on the Zener-Hollomon parameter. The dynamic recrystallization kinetics was analyzed using Avrami equation and the corresponding exponent was determined to be about 2.7. This value, higher than 2 reported in the literatures, is associated with the mechanism of continuous dynamic recrystallization in the studied alloy. The flow curve up to the peak was modeled by the Cingara equation and the strain exponent, c, was determined about 0.85. The higher value of c compared with the value of 0.2 which has been reported for some stainless steels fortified the idea of extended dynamic recovery or continuous dynamic recrystallization in the studied alloy.

Effect of elemental molar ratio on the synthesis of higher alcohols over Co-promoted alkali-modified Mo_2C catalysts supported on CNTs

A series of molybdenum carbide catalysts promoted by potassium and cobalt,supported on carbon nanotubes（CNTs） were prepared by carbothermal hydrogen reduction method using CNTs as a carbon ***,molybdenum and cobalt were loaded by co-precipitation method,and then potassium and additional molybdenum were impregnated to previous *** Mo/Co and K/Co molar ratio were used in catalyst *** the catalysts were characterized by ICP,BET,TEM,TPR,XRD and XPS,and the catalysts performances for higher alcohols synthesis（HAS） were investigated in a fixed-bed *** maximum selectivity to higher alcohols（C2＋OH） was obtained at Mo/Co and K/Mo molar ratios of 1.66 and 0.6,*** results confirmed the formation of K-Mo-C site and Co3Mo3 C phase that might play important role in producing C2＋OH.

Leontiasis Ossea Following Secondary Hyperparathyroidism and Hemodialysis

Leontiasis ossea is a rare medical condition which is characterized by an overgrowth of the facial and cranial bones secondary to chronic renal failure and secondary hyperparathyroidism. We reported a case of leontiasis ossea with history of secondary hyperparathyroidism due to end-stage renal disease on regular hemodialysis. A 37-year-old female with end-stage renal disease from lupus disease on regular hemodialysis complaining of progressive facial deformity for two years causing dyspnea, dental malocclusion and dysarthria with the final diagnosis of uremic leontiasis ossea. It is important to recognize features of leontiasis ossea, as it may result in life-threatening upper airway obstruction and compressive cranial neuropathy while after parathyroidectomy, facial changes can be stabilized or improved mildly.

Ultrasound-Assisted Emulsification Dispersive Liquid-Liquid Microextraction Based on Solidification of Floating Organic Droplet for Separation of Trace Gold Prior to Flame Atomic Absorption Spectroscopy Determination

In the present work, a ultrasound-assisted emulsification dispersive liquid-liquid microextraction based on solidification of floating organic droplet method has been developed as a sample preparation method prior to flame atomic absorption spectrometry determination of trace amounts of gold in the standard, wastewater and river water samples. In the proposed method, 1-dodecanol and 5-(4-dimethylamino-benzylidene) were used as extraction solvent and chelating agent, respectively. Several factors that may be affected on the ex-traction process, such as type and volume of the extraction solvent, ionic strength, pH of the aqueous solu-tion, extraction temperature and extraction time were studied and optimized. Under the best experimental conditions, the calibration curve exhibited linearity over the range of 8.0 ng●mL-1- 3.0 μg●mL-1 with a correlation coefficient of 0.9978 and detection limit based on three times the standard deviation of the blank signal was 1.5 ng●mL-1. Eight replicate determinations of 0.2 and 1.0 μg●mL-1 of gold gave a mean absorbance of 0.051 and 0.253 with relative standard deviations of ±2.3% and ±1.5%, respectively. Finally, the developed method was successfully applied to the extraction and determination of gold ions in a silica ore, wastewater, river water and standard samples and satisfactory results were obtained.

Application of H-Point Standard Addition Method and Multivariate Calibration Methods to the Simultaneous Kinetic-Potentiometric Determination of Cerium(IV) and Dichoromate

A kinetic-potentiometric method for simultaneous determination of Cerium(IV) and dichoromate (Cr2O72-) by H-point standard addition method (HPSAM), partial least squares (PLS) and principal component regression (PCR) using fluoride ion-selective electrode (FISE) is described. In this work, the difference between the rate of the oxidation reaction of Fe(II) to Fe(III) in the presence of Ce4+ and Cr2O72- is based of the method. The rate of consume fluoride ion for making complex is detected with a FISE. The results show that simultaneous determination of Ce4+ and Cr2O72- can be done in their concentration ranges of 1.0-30.0 and 0.1-20.0 μg/mL, respectively. The total relative standard error for applying the PLS and PCR methods on 8 synthetic samples was 2.97 and 3.19, respectively in the concentration ranges of 1.0-30.0 μg/mL of Ce4+ and 0.1-20.0 μg/mL of Cr2O72-. In order for the selectivity of the method to be assessed, we evaluated the effects of certain foreign ions upon the reaction rate and assessed the selectivity of the method. The proposed methods (HPSAM, PLS and PCR) were evaluated using a set of synthetic sample mixtures and then applied for simultaneous determination of Ce4+ and Cr2O72- in different water samples.

A new polymeric reagent, cross-linked poly（4-vinylpyridine） supported azide ion, [P4-VP]N3, was introduced as polymeric reagents for efficient and regioselective conversion of epoxides to azidohydrins in the presence of cross-linked poly（4-vinylpyridine） supported sulfuric acid, [P4-VP]H2SO4, as a solid proton source and as catalyst under solvent-free conditions. The advantages of this polymeric reagent over some of those reported in the literature are easy work-up procedure and regeneration of the reagent.

Assessment of pH-responsive nanoparticles performance on laboratory column flotation cell applying a real ore feed

This study considers the problem of robust interconnection and damping assignment passivity-based control approach(IDA-PBC)for underactuated mechanical systems from two points of ***,the robustness of IDA-PBC in the presence of non-vanishing matched and unmatched uncertainties is analysed and sufficient conditions are derived to ensure ultimate boundedness of ***,the robust control design is provided by adding a new control input to the former controller designed by IDA-PBC,such that asymptotic stability of the closed-loop system in the face of non-vanishing matched uncertainties is ***,the proposed robust controller is evaluated through simulations of two practical examples,*** inertia wheel pendulum and a single-link elastic joint *** simulation outcomes clearly reveal the effectiveness of the presented robust controller.

Voltammetric determination of isoproterenol using a 5-amino-2',4'-dimethoxybiphenyl-2-ol modified carbon nanotube paste electrode

A new electrochemical sensor for determination of isoproterenol （IP） is described. The sensor is based on carbon paste electrode （CPE） modified with 5-amino-2＇,4＇-dimethoxybiphenyl-2-ol （5ADMB） and takes the advantages of carbon nanotubes （CNTs）. Under the optimum pH of 7.0, the oxidation of IP occurs at a potential about 210 mV less positive than that of the unmodified CPE. The oxidation currents increased linearly with two concentration intervals oflP, one is 0.09 to 20.0 μ mol/L and, the other is 20.0 to 400.0 μmol/L. The detection limit （3or） obtained by square wave voltammetry （SWV） was 39.0 μmol/L. The practical application of the modified electrode was demonstrated by determining IP in IP ampoule, urine and human blood serum samples.
