Post-endoscopic procedure satisfaction scores: Can we improve?

AIM To organize post-procedure satisfaction data into a useful reference and analyze patient-centered parameters to find trends that influence patient *** A robust database of two cohorts of outpatients that underwent an endoscopic procedure at Georgetown University Hospital at two separate three-month intervals ranging from November 2012 to January 2013 and November 2015 to January 2016 was compiled. Time of year was identical to control for weather/seasonal issues that may have contributed to the patient experience. The variables recorded included age, sex, body mass index(BMI), type of procedure, indication for procedure, time of the procedure, length of the procedure, type of prep used, endoscopist, satisfactory score, and comments/reasons for score. For continuous variables, differences in averages were tested by two sample t-test, Wilcoxon rank sum test, and ANOVA as appropriate. For categorical variables, differences in proportions between two groups were tested by χ~2 test. Correlation test and linear regression analyses were conducted to examine relationships between length of procedure and continuous predictors. A P value < 0.05 used to indicate statistically significant *** The primary outcome of this study was to assess if telephone outreach after an endoscopic intervention was a satisfactory method of obtaining post-procedure satisfaction scores from patients at a tertiary care center. With the addition of post-procedure calls, instilled in January 2014, the response rate was 40.5%(508/1256 patients) from a prior completion rate of 3.4%(31/918) with the mail out survey initially. There was a statistically significant improved response rate pre and post intervention with P < 0001. The secondary outcome of this study was to assess if we could use predictive analytics to identify independent predictors of procedure length, such as gender, age, type of procedure, time of procedure, or BMI. Photocatalytic Degradation of p-Nitrophenol (PNP) in Aqueous Suspension of TiO<sub>2</sub>

The effects of initial concentrations of PNP, doses of TiO2, cations and anions have been investigated to find out the conditions for the maximum degradation of PNP in presence of 254 nm UV light. The rate of photocatalytic degradation of PNP was increased with increasing TiO2 dose until the dose concentration reached at a value 0.4 g/100 mL. Further increase of TiO2 decreased the degradation. The maximum degradation of PNP was found with the catalyst dose 0.4 g/100 mL at pH 3. The degradation of PNP was decreased with increasing of PNP concentration. About 90% degradation of PNP was observed when 1.0 × 10﹣4 M PNP was irradiated for 2 hours in 0.4 g/100 mL of TiO2 suspension. The effect of Cu(II) and Fe(II) ions on the degradation was also investigated. Addition of Cu(II) ions enhances the percent degradation but excess of Cu(II) ions decreases the degradation. Under the same experimental conditions, the presence of and is found to be detrimental to the photodegradation of PNP. Hydrogen ion concentration of reaction mixture was found to increase continuously during photodegradation suggesting mineralization of PNP.

Wild strawberry Fragaria vesca is emerging as an important model system for the cultivated strawberry due to its diploid genome and availability of extensive transcriptome data and a range of molecular genetic *** able to better utilize these tools,especially the transcriptome data,will greatly facilitate research progress in strawberry and other Rosaceae fruit *** electronic fluorescent pictograph(eFP)software is a useful and popular tool to display transcriptome data visually,and is widely used in other model organisms including Arabidopsis and *** we applied eFP to display wild strawberry RNA sequencing(RNA-seq)data from 42 different tissues and stages,including various flower and fruit developmental *** addition,we generated eight additional RNA-seq data sets to represent tissues from ripening-stage receptacle fruit from yellow-colored and red-colored wild strawberry *** gene expression analysis between these eight data sets provides additional information for understanding fruit-quality ***,this work greatly facilitates the utility of the extensive transcriptome data for investigating strawberry flower and fruit development as well as fruit-quality traits.

Electric power is a key driver of economic growth and prosperity (1). But access to electricity still remains a distant dream for majority of the population living in the remote and arid areas of developing countries mostly Indian sub-continent. Solar photovoltaic (PV) systems have shown their potential in rural electrification projects around the world. Photovoltaic (PV) systems (2) use wafers, which are typically made of crystalline silicon when exposed to sunlight, will produce a small direct current. Available free land is very limited in Bangladesh. So to setup a solar PV Power plant, an alternate has been investigated in this paper work. The available free space over the railway tracks has been considered for power generation. The design calculation and analysis were carried out before it was modeled, simulated in SAM (Version 6.1). The aim of the paper is to analyze the technical description of a photovoltaic system, analyzing each of the elements, the presentation of different types of existing plants and the regulation, and presenting a proposal of such a plant based on the theoretical considerations and calculations.

Introduction: Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus (T2DM) has witnessed a rise in its prevalence worldwide and in the Middle East region. The overall burden associated with the disease is well characterized, but little is known about patient satisfaction in the region. The purpose of the study is to evaluate the quality of life (QoL) and treatment satisfaction of patients T2DM. Methods: The SIMPLIFY study was an observational, cross-sectional, multicenter, regional study that used patient-reported outcomes of T2DM patients in Jordan and Lebanon. Results: Patients were more satisfied when they were treated exclusively with oral medications, mainly metformin alone or combined with either sulfonylurea or dipeptidyl peptidase-4 inhibitor. Targets for glycated hemoglobin (HbA1c) values were better reached in patients treated with oral medications. Occurrence of comorbidities did not seem to be affected by oral or injectable medications or to affect patients’ satisfaction. Data highlighted a suboptimal screening for albuminuria and showed that most patients were overweight or obese and around 30% suffered from hypoglycemia episodes. Conclusion: Data shed the light on the management of T2DM in Jordan and Lebanon and suggested the need for a more comprehensive approach to T2DM management and selection of medications that would support weight control and a lower hypoglycemia incidence.

The small bowel represents one of the main sites for cutaneous melanoma metastasis;however, numerous cases of primary intestinal melanoma have recently been described. In view of this, we present the case of a 39-year-old woman admitted for nausea, heartburn, abdominal pain, change in bowel habits and weight loss. Contrast-enhanced CT revealed a small bowel mass. Surgical resection of a 6 cm ileal tumour with regional mesenteric lymphadenectomy and end-to-end anastomosis was performed. Histopathological findings indicated the presence of an ileal melanoma metastasis. Subsequent dermatological examination identified a cutaneous lesion on the right forearm, however no malignant cells were found at the histopathological exam. Whole body PET CT with FDG identified multiple frontal and parietal lesions. Genetic testing was positive for BRAF gene V600 E mutation. The patient underwent multiple neurosurgical procedures for the resection of cerebral metastases. Palliative external radiation and chemotherapy was also attempted. After approximately 2 years after the diagnosis, the patient died following multiple episodes of intracranial hypertension.

你过去的未来计划是什么？当我受邀完成这篇香港艺术家作品集时,我的第一个想法就是不能只是把＂已完成＂的作品从原来的上下文中抽离出来放到在一起,这样只会暴露读者无法亲自感受原作的缺憾。因此我开始在脑中形成一个关于＂未完成＂或者＂进行中＂作品的模糊想法,我想让那些已经存在但尚未公诸于世的作品浮出水面。为了让主题更明确,我决定借用＂未实现的项目＂这一概念。采访中经常听到有人问：＂你未来的计划是什么？＂现在我们把这个问题调过头,对准过去。
