An efficient solvent‐free protocol for the synthesis of 14‐aryl‐14H‐dibenzo[a,j]xanthenes from the condensation of 2‐naphthol with arylaldehydes, using acetic acid functionalized imidazolium salts (1‐carboxymethyl‐3‐methylimidazolium bromide ([cmmim]Br) and 1‐carboxymethy1‐3-me-thylimidazolium tetrafluoroborate([cmmim]BF4) as reusable catalysts, has been developed. The turn over frequency on the catalysts is several times higher than the other previously reported catalysts. Also, thermal gravimetric analysis and powder X‐ray diffraction pattern of the catalysts have been studied.

Risk factors for congenital nasolacrimal duct obstruction in children under two years of age

·AIM:To identify various risk factors that may play a significant role in the development of congenital nasolacrimal duct obstruction(CNLDO).·METHODS:This observational case-control study included a case group of 122 children less than two years of age with CNLDO who underwent probing and irrigation treatment at the ophthalmology department of Imam Khomeini Hospital in Ahvaz,Iran,from June 2022 to June2024.A control group of 122 age-matched children without CNLDO was also included for *** was collected from the children's medical records.·RESULTS:The study found a significant correlation between the occurrence of CNLDO and several maternal factors,such as preeclampsia,the use of levothyroxine,hypothyroidism,having more than three pregnancies(gravidity>3),natural pregnancy,and gestational diabetes ***,in children,factors,such as oxygen therapy,anemia,reflux,jaundice,and a family history of CNLDO in first-degree relatives were associated with CNLDO,and maternal preeclampsia and hypothyroidism were found to significantly increase the risk of developing CNLDO in children.·CONCLUSION:Given that CNLDO affects both premature and full-term children,the present findings may potentially facilitate the early identification of children and infants at risk of nasolacrimal duct obstruction,thereby preventing the onset of chronic dacryocystitis.

Assessing the vulnerability of wintering habitats for the red-listed Asian Houbara ( Chlamydotis macqueenii) using climate models and human impact assessments

The Asian Houbara (Chlamydotis macqueenii), a vulnerable species, is under significant threat from habitat degradation and anthropogenic pressures in Pakistan's arid landscapes. This study addresses the urgent need for conservation by identifying critical habitats, analyzing the influence of environmental and human factors on species distribution, and projecting future habitat shifts under climate change scenarios. Using the MaxEnt model, which achieves a robust predictive accuracy (AUC = 0.854), we mapped current and future habitat suitability under Shared Socioeconomic Pathways (SSP126, SSP370, SSP585) for the years 2040 and 2070. Presently, the suitable habitat extends over 217,082 km2, with 52,751 km2 classified as highly suitable. Key environmental drivers, identified via the Jackknife test, revealed that annual mean temperature (Bio1) and slope play a dominant role in determining habitat suitability. Projections show significant habitat degradation;however, under SSP585, highly suitable areas are expected to expand by up to 24.92% by 2070. Despite this increase, vast areas remain unsuitable, posing serious risks to population sustainability. Moreover, only 2115 km2 of highly suitable habitat currently falls within protected zones, highlighting a critical conservation shortfall. These findings highlight the imperative for immediate, targeted conservation efforts to secure the species' future in Pakistan's desert ecosystems.

Cardiovascular diseases in patients with cancer: A comprehensive review of epidemiological trends, cardiac complications, and prognostic implications

This article provides an overview of the current evidence on the epidemiology, overlapping risk factors, and pathophysiology of cardiovascular disease (CVD) in patients with cancer. It explores the cardiotoxic effects of anticancer therapy and their impact on prognosis. Although cancer survival rates have improved over the last two decades, the risk of CVD has risen over time in patients with cancer. CVD and cancer share similar risk factors and a common pathophysiology involving inflammation. Many chemotherapeutic agents used to treat cancer are associated with cardiovascular complications (such as heart failure, myocardial infarction, and thrombosis). Current evidence indicates a significant burden of CVD in patients with cancer, particularly in the first year following cancer diagnosis, with elevated risk persisting beyond this period. This short- and long-term risk of CVD may vary depending on the cancer type and treatment regimen. Early identification of potential cardiovascular risk in patients with cancer, can lead to more favorable clinical and survival outcomes. Given the acute and long-term consequences, patients with cancer require increased cardiovascular care and lifestyle optimization. This article offers valuable insights into the cardiovascular burden and needs of patients with cancer. It is intended for a general medical research readership interested in the intersection of cardiology and oncology.

Colonoscopy represents a safe procedure that is widely used in medical practice either to diagnose or treat various gastrointestinal *** the last few years,the incidence rate of perforations in colonoscopic procedures has increased,especially in therapeutic *** recent advancements in endoscopic techniques and gastrointestinal tumoral resection procedures such as endoscopic mucosal resection,endoscopic full-thickness resection,and endoscopic submucosal dissection(ESD)could be a risk factor for this increased *** incidence rate of mortality of serious colonoscopic perforations is 7.1%.The management plan for these perforations starts with conservative treatment in mild cases,endoscopic closure,and surgical management in severe ***,endoluminal vacuum therapy was found to be effective in the management of colorectal perforations and this has been reported in multiple case *** editorial provides an overview of the current guidelines for the management of iatrogenic colorectal *** insights are from the perspectives of endoscopists and *** also present a management algorithm based on the guidelines of the European Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy,the American Gastroenterological Association,and the World Society of Emergency *** also discussed in brief the use of endoluminal vacuum therapy in colorectal perforations.

Analysis of transverse momentum spectra of protons,deuterons,and tritons in symmetric heavy-ion collisions at√S_(NN)=200 GeV at the RHIC

The blast wave model with Tsallis statistics is used to analyze the transverse momentum spectra of protons(p),deuterons(d),and tritons(t)in√S_(NN)=200 GeV gold-gold(Au-Au)collisions at the RHIC in various centrality *** particular transverse momentum ranges,the model results closely match experimental data from the PHENIX(p)and STAR(d and t)*** data are compared with those of protons obtained in Cu+Cu collisions and deuterons and tritons in Ru+Ru collisions at a center of mass energy of 200 GeV from the STAR *** spectra are used to derive the kinetic freeze-out temperatures,transverse flow velocities,and freeze-out *** to the findings,the kinetic freeze-out temperature increases from the central to peripheral *** this transition,the transverse flow velocity and freeze-out volume both *** the collisions of both collaborations,this study reveals mass-dependent kinetic freeze-out temperature and differential volume ***,the non-extensivity parameter q decreases with increasing centrality of the studied heavy-ion collisions,and heavier mass particles have smaller values of q,which implies higher degrees of thermalization and equilibrium in more central collisions and for heavier particles.

Workplace bullying and its association with secondary traumatic stress and turnover intention among emergency and critical care nurses

Objective:This study aims to identify the prevalence of bullying in the workplace and to examine its association with turnover(TO)intention and secondary traumatic stress(STS)among Jordanian nurses employed in Emergency Departments(EDs)and critical care units(CCUs).Nurses employed in the EDs and CCUs are exposed to high levels of bullying behaviors that may contribute to STS,leading to high rates of ***:A descriptive cross-sectional design was used.A sample of 150 Jordanian nurses working in CCUs and EDs completed the *** collection was performed using the Demographical Questionnaire,the Negative Acts Questionnaire-Revised(NAQ-R),ProQOL scale,and TO *** IBM SPSS software was used to analyze ***:About 10.7%and 89.3%were categorized as“occasionally bullied”and“victims of workplace bullying”*** bullying was positively associated with TO intention(r=0.46,P<0.001)and STS(r=0.36,P<0.001).TO was positively associated with STS(r=0.36,P<0.001).Bullying was a unique significant predictor of TO intention(t=4.59,B=0.34,P<0.001)and STS(t=4.15,B=0.34,P<0.001).Conclusions:Bullying behavior has negative adversarial effects on TO and the experience of *** prevalence of bullying behavior in the EDs and CCUs remains high despite the increasing awareness of its negative *** organizations should put systems in place to ensure that zero-tolerance policy are monitored in terms of the effectiveness of its implementation.

东北印度洋作为全球最大的沉积物“源-汇”体系,形成了世界上最大的河口三角洲——恒河三角洲,其沉积过程对东北印度洋海洋物质和能量平衡具有重要影响。本文对恒河水下三角洲84个站位表层沉积物样品进行系统的稀土元素(Rare Earth Elements,REE)测试分析,揭示了其组成特征和空间分布规律,判别了其主要物质来源,并结合水动力条件对研究区沉积物的输运方式进行了探讨。结果表明,研究区表层沉积物稀土元素总含量(∑REE)为40.89~472.38μg/g,平均值为188.98μg/g,具有轻稀土元素(Light Rare Earth Elements,LREE)富集、重稀土元素(Heavy Rare Earth Elements,HREE)相对均一的典型特征,且表现出铕(Eu)负异常、无铈(Ce)异常的明显规律。利用∑REE、轻稀土元素总含量(∑LREE)、重稀土元素总含量(∑HREE)、轻重稀土元素比值(∑LREE/∑HREE)、铕异常(δEu)及铈异常(δCe)等稀土元素特征参数空间聚类分析,可将研究区划分为3个区域:Ⅰ区位于研究区北侧近河口海域,是REE含量的高值区(平均值为376.64μg/g),研究区北部入海河流物质更易在此沉降;Ⅱ区位于研究区北侧沿岸一带,REE含量平均值为201.43μg/g,沉积物几乎全部来自喜马拉雅山陆源碎屑物质;Ⅲ区主要位于研究区南侧深水区,部分位于西北侧(接近孙德尔本斯地区),REE含量最低,平均值为135.16μg/g,该区大部分沉积物为喜马拉雅陆源碎屑物质,混有部分印度半岛陆源剥蚀物。结合研究区水动力条件,对REE指标空间分布规律进一步分析表明,研究区沉积物的输运与分布主要受潮汐、季风和羽状流的共同作用,恒河-布拉马普特拉河输运的喜马拉雅陆源碎屑物在羽状流和季风的推动下不断向南运移,REE含量随着搬运距离的增加呈降低趋势,因此研究区∑REE呈现北高南低的分布格局,而默哈纳迪河运移的印度半岛入海物质进入孟加拉湾后受西南季风驱动,对研究区南部海域沉积物REE组成造成影响。

Sulfonic acid functionalized pyridinium chloride [pyridine-SO3 H]Cl has been synthesized as a novel Brnsted acidic ionic liquid and characterized on the basis of its FT-IR,1H and 13C NMR,MS,ther-mogravimetry,and derivative thermogravimetry *** material has also been used as a highly efficient,homogeneous,and reusable catalyst for the preparation of hexahydroquinolines according to the one-pot multi-component condensation of arylaldehydes,dimedone(5,5-dimethylcyclohexane-1,3-dione),β-ketoesters,and ammonium acetate under solvent-free conditions.
