Effects of intermediate Ni layer on mechanical properties of Al–Cu layered composites fabricated through cold roll bonding

Layered composites have attracted considerable interest in the recent literature on metal composites. Their mechanical properties depend on the quality of the bonding provided by the intermediate layers. In this study, we analyzed the mechanical properties and bond strengths provided by the nickel layer with respect to its thickness and nature(either powder or coating). The results suggest that bond strength decreases with an increase in the content of nickel powder. At 0.3 vol% of nickel coating, we found the nature of nickel to be less efficient in terms of bond strength. A different picture arose when the content of nickel was increased and the bond strength increased in nickel coated samples. In addition, the results demonstrate that mechanical properties such as bend strength are strongly dependent on bond strength.

Aluminum alloyed with magnesium and silicon has been used as the matrix material owing to its excellent mechanical properties coupled with good formability and its wide applications in industrial sector. An extrusion process was developed to consolidate AI 6061-SiCp composites from mixed powders. The results show that the composites were fully densified, with no sign of pores or oxide layers observable in the optical microscope. The SiC particles were distributed uniformly in the matrix. As compared with 6061 alloys, the composites demonstrated a smaller elongation, but exhibited a higher Young＇s modulus and a larger work hardening capacity. These composites possessed much higher elongation at the same strength level. The present study also addressed the dry wear behavior of the composites at different sliding speeds and applied loads. Values of the friction coefficient of the matrix alloy and composite materials were in expected range for light metals in dry sliding conditions. All of these improvements were attributed to the merits, including full densification of the bulk, uniform dispersion of the SiC particles in the matrix, and strong binding between the SiC particles and the matrix resulting from the extrusion.

Microstructure and texture variations of a cold-rolled multiphase FeCrCuMnNi high-entropy alloy were studied after different annealing *** were heat-treated at different temperatures and for different time,and then,subjected to different tests including XRD and *** results reveal that the FCC1 phase,which goes through more strain,has lower melting temperature,and recrystallizes earlier(lower temperature and shorter time).In addition,it is seen that particle stimulated nucleation is more effective on the recrystallization of this phase compared to FCC2 phase.A significant number of FCC1 nuclei form around the BCC *** of FCC2 phase initiated at 800℃mostly at the grain boundaries and the *** FCC1 phase was almost fully recrystallized at this *** annealing process led to the elimination of rolling textures,while the Brass component remained a major component in the recrystallized *** annealing temperature as well as annealing time led to the formation of Cube texture component,which is a major component of recrystallized low stacking fault energy ***,D and Rt-Co components formed during recrystallization as a result of the formation of annealing twins.

The main ideas in the development of the solvent extraction mixer settler focused on achieving clean phase separation,minimizing the loss of the reagents and decreasing the surface area of the *** role of baffles in a mechanically agitated vessel is to ensure even distribution,reduce settler turbulence,promote the stability of power drawn by the impeller and to prevent swirling and vortexing of liquid,thus,greatly improving the mixing of *** insertion of the appropriate number of baffles clearly improves the extent of liquid ***,excessive baffling would interrupt liquid mixing and lengthen the mixing *** fluid dynamics(CFD) provides a tool for determining detailed information on fluid flow(hydrodynamics) which is necessary for modeling subprocesses in mixer settler.A total of 54 final CFD runs were carried out representing different combinations of variables like number of baffles,density and impeller *** data shows that amount of separation increases with increasing baffles number and decreasing impeller speed.

A tunable continuous wave（cw） mid-infrared（MIR） laser based on difference-frequency generation（DFG） in a 1.5-cm long AgGaS2 nonlinear crystal for trace gas detection is *** visible and near-infrared diode lasers were used as pump and signal *** MIR-DFG laser was tunable in a wavelength range of 4.75 μm-4.88 μ*** phase-matching（PM） condition was non-critically achieved by adjusting the temperature of the crystal for fixed pairs of input pump and signal *** required PM temperatures of the generated MIR-DFG wavelengths have been calculated by using three sets of recent Sellmeier equations and the temperature-dispersion equations of AgGaS2 given by Willer U,et al.（Willer U,Blanke T and Schade W 2001 ***.40 5439）.Then the calculated PM temperatures are compared with the experimental *** performance of the MIR-DFG laser is shown by the trace detection of the P（16） carbon monoxide（12C16O） absorption line in a laboratory-fabricated absorption *** enhanced sensitivity of about 0.6×10 4 was obtained through the long path absorption provided by consecutive reflections between coated cylindrical mirrors of a constructed cell.

Evaluating the Efficacy of Remifentanil-Propofol versus Isoflurane in Reducing Blood Loss with Considering Depth of Anesthesia during Endoscopic Sinus Surgery

Several methods have been suggested to decrease bleeding during surgery, one of which is the usage of hypotensive anesthetic agents. Endoscopic Sinus Surgery (ESS) is one of the surgeries which need a clear field and the amount of bleeding profoundly impacts the ability of surgeons. Current study was designed to evaluate the effect of remifentanil combined with propofol versus Isoflurane on blood loss during ESS and its possible interaction with Depth of Anesthesia. Fifty one patients comprising 15 females and 36 males undergoing ESS were chosen for this study. One group received propofol and remifentanil to induce and maintain anesthesia and the second group received Isoflurane. Mean Arterial Blood Pressure (MAP), Depth of Anesthesia and total blood loss were recorded for the patients of both group. Data were analyzed using t-test, Repeated Measures ANOVA and Pearson’s correlation. P 0.05 was considered statistically significant. Both agents induced hypotension during surgery. No significant difference was observed in total blood loss between two groups. DA was decreased in both groups, but no significant correlation was found between DA and MAP or DA and blood loss. There is no significant difference between remifentanil combined with propofol and Isoflurane in decreasing blood loss during ESS, thus we suggest usage of hypotensive anesthetic agent regardless of its type is ESS.

The effect of SiC particles reinforcement with average size of 1, 5, 20 and 50 μm and volume fraction of 5%, 10% and 15% on the microstructure and tribological properties of Al-based composite was investigated. Composites were produced by applying compocasting process. Tribological properties of the unreinforced alloy and composites were studied using pin-on-disc wear tester, under dry sliding conditions at different specific loads. The influence of secondary mechanical processing with different rolling reductions on the dry sliding wear characteristics of Al matrix composites was also assessed. Hardness measurement and scanning electron microscopy were used for microstructural characterization and investigation of worn surfaces and wear debris. The proper selection of process parameter such as pouring temperature, stirring speed, stirring time, pre-heated temperature of reinforcement can all influence the quality of the fabricated composites. The porosity level of composite should be minimized and the chemical reaction between the reinforcement and matrix should be avoided.

The microstructure and mechanical properties of nano composites processed via stir casting were studied. The composites were based on the A356 aluminum alloy reinforced with nano SiC particles. The density measurements show that the samples contain little porosity and the amount of porosity in the composites increases with increasing volume fraction of SiC. The microstructures of the composites were examined using optical microscope and transmission electron microscope. Microscopic observations of the microstructures reveal that the dispersion of the particles is uniform. The yield strength, ultimate tensile strength and the elastic modulus are improved with the addition of nano particles although some reduction in ductility is observed. The highest yield strength and ultimate tensile strength are obtained with the addition of 3.5% SiC nano-particles. A relatively ductile fracture in tensile fractured samples was observed by fractography examination.

In this article, Discrete Homotopy Analysis Method (DHAM), as a new numerical method, is employed to investigate amperometric biosensor at mixed enzyme kinetics and diffusion limitation. Mathematical modeling of the problem is developed utilizing non-Michaelis-Menten kinetics of the enzymatic reaction. Different results are obtained for different values of the dimensionless parameters described in the paper. The presented solution is then compared with the available actual and simulated results.
