DEAR EDITOR,Individual dispersal trends, unquestionably important for species ecology and evolution, are affected by multiple factors. Understanding the factors that influence female dispersal strategies offers important insight into primate dispersal mechanisms and female choice. To investigate the proximate causes of dispersal in female Yunnan snub-nosed monkeys (Rhinopithecus bieti), we observed and analyzed nine years of detailed dispersal and demographic data from a population of R. bieti in Xiangguqing, Baimaxueshan Nature Reserve, Yunnan Province, China. Results showed that females who lived long-term in a one-male unit (OMU), without giving birth and with few or no relatives, were more likely to leave that OMU. In addition, an OMU led by an outgroup male and containing more female relatives was significantly more likely to be chosen for immigration. Conversely, greater male age, longer male tenure, and more potentially fertile females discouraged immigration into an OMU. These results suggest that reproduction, male quality, and kin cooperation play the largest roles in female Yunnan snub-nosed monkey dispersal.

We study genuine entanglement among three qubits undergoing a noisy process that includes dissipation, squeezing,and decoherence. We obtain a general solution and analyze the asymptotic quantum states. We find that most of these asymptotic states can be genuinely entangled depending upon the parameters of the channel, memory parameter, and the parameters of the initial states. We study Greenberger–Horne–Zeilinger(GHZ) states and W states, mixed with white noise,and determine the conditions for them to be genuinely entangled at infinity. We find that for these mixtures, it is possible to start with a bi-separable state(with a specific mixture of white noise) and end with genuine entangled states. However, the memory parameter μ must be very high. We find that in contrast to the two-qubit case, none of the three-qubit asymptotic states for n → ∞ are genuinely entangled.

This research investigates the capability of artificial neural networks to predict vertical total electron content(VTEC)over central Anatolia in Turkey.The VTEC dataset was derived from the 19 permanent Global Positioning System(GPS)stations belonging to the Turkish National Permanent GPS NetworkActive(TUSAGA-Aktif)and International Global Navigation Satellite System Service(IGS)networks.The study area is located at 32.6°E-37.5°E and 36.0°N-42.0°N.Considering the factors inducing VTEC variations in the ionosphere,an artificial neural network(NN)with seven input neurons in a multi-layer perceptron model is proposed.The KURU and ANMU GPS stations from the TUSAGA-Aktif network are selected to implement the proposed neural network model.Based on the root mean square error(RMSE)results from 50 simulation tests,the hidden layer in the NN model is designed with 41 neurons since the lowest RMSE is achieved in this attempt.According to the correlation coefficients,absolute and relative errors,the NN VTEC provides better predictions for hourly and quarterly GPS VTEC.In addition,this paper demonstrates that the NN VTEC model shows better performance than the global IRI2016 model.Regarding the spatial contribution of the GPS network to TEC prediction,the KURU station performs better than ANMU station in fitting with the proposed NN model in the station-based comparison.

Automated analysis of sports video summarization is challenging due to variations in cameras,replay speed,illumination conditions,editing effects,game structure,genre,etc.To address these challenges,we propose an effective video summarization framework based on shot classification and replay detection for field sports videos.Accurate shot classification is mandatory to better structure the input video for further processing,i.e.,key events or replay detection.Therefore,we present a lightweight convolutional neural network based method for shot classification.Then we analyze each shot for replay detection and specifically detect the successive batch of logo transition frames that identify the replay segments from the sports videos.For this purpose,we propose local octa-pattern features to represent video frames and train the extreme learning machine for classification as replay or non-replay frames.The proposed framework is robust to variations in cameras,replay speed,shot speed,illumination conditions,game structure,sports genre,broadcasters,logo designs and placement,frame transitions,and editing effects.The performance of our framework is evaluated on a dataset containing diverse YouTube sports videos of soccer,baseball,and cricket.Experimental results demonstrate that the proposed framework can reliably be used for shot classification and replay detection to summarize field sports videos.

Applying the discrete element method(DEM)in soil mechanics can provide abundant information at the particle-scale and facilitates illustration of the macro-mechanical behaviour of soils based on the inter-particle mechanisms.The triaxial test is one of the most common laboratory methods to study the macro-mechanical behaviour of particulate materials such as soil.However,many problems in geotechnical design can be assumed and simplified as a plane strain phenomenon.Therefore a biaxial test can be conducted to reproduce the macro-mechanical behaviour of soil,where the sample is enclosed by two horizontal rigid platens and a vertical latex membrane,which is a deformable continuous element and allows the enclosed specimen to deform freely while maintaining confining stress during loading.This paper presents an algorithm to represent physical and mechanical characteristics of latex membrane in the 2D DEM simulation of biaxial test using the PFC 2D code.To investigate the impact of the lateral boundary conditions on the micro-macro mechanical behaviours of soil samples,two sets of DEM biaxial tests are conducted,i.***.with rigid and deformable lateral boundary conditions.The DEM modeling results indicate that the lateral boundary conditions have a significant effect on the micro-scale fabric properties,thickness and inclination of the shear band.The comparison between these two simulations also demonstrates that the lateral boundary conditions play a major role in the peak and post-peak stress-strain behaviours as well as the dilation and critical state behaviours of granular soils.

Extracellular RNAs(exRNAs) are novel circulating factors that can be used as biomarkers in various diseases. Their unique and diverse kinds, as well as their role as biomarkers, make them significant biomarkers. There has been immense work carried out since the discovery of exRNAs in circulation and other biological fluids to catalog and determine whether exRNAs may be utilized as indicators for health and illness. In this review, we aim to understand the current state of exRNAs in relation to various diseases and their potential as biomarkers. We will also review current issues and challenges faced in using exRNAs, with clinical and lab trials, that can be used as viable markers for different diseases.

Objective: Nasal vestibular furunculosis (NVF) is characterized by an acute localized infection of the hair follicle in the skin lining of the nasal vestibule. This study provides an up-to-date narrative analysis on NVF, its presentation, complications and management.Methods: A literature search was conducted electronically with no time constraints using "Nasal Vestibular Furuncolosis" or "NVF" through Medline, Cochrane Library and Web of Science, including MeSH terms with no language restrictions. Included were: Studies that described NVF’’s presentation and subsequent management and excluded were: Irrelevant studies that did not provide details about NVF’’s presentation or management, furthermore studies that alluded to Nasal vestibulitis without furunculosis were excluded. There were no limitations on time, up until the review was commenced in May 2020.Results: Seven articles complied with the inclusion criteria. All papers reviewed were from 2015 to 2020. Three out of 4 studies reported duration of symptomatic NVF between 3 and 4 days. The most common presentation of NVF was reported as erythema, swelling, tender over the nasal tip. The most frequent, successful management of NVF frequently included intranasal topical mupirocin and in some cases oral sodium fusidate. NVF was reported to clear within 7 days by 2 studies. There were no randomised studies exploring NVF or NVF management.Conclusion: Although a very common condition, much research is required to allude to the pathophysiology and management of NVF. Future studies should explore the reasons as to the resistance of topical antibiotics in some patients, the differing strains ofstaphylococcus aureus and their resulting complications, the reasons behind the familiar connection and the most effective management plan for NVF.

The current paper deals with synchronization problem among chaotic nonlinear fractional order systems considering input saturation constraint.To develop the idea,at first a generalized sector condition and a memory-less nonlinear function are employed to deal with the saturation problem.Then a new state feedback controller is designed to achieve synchronization in master-slave chaotic fractional order nonlinear systems with input saturation.Using the state feedback controller,the asymptotic stability of whole dynamic error model between master and slave is achieved.The stability of the closed-loop system is guaranteed using Lyapunov theory and sufficient stability conditions are formulated in terms of caputo fractional derivative of a quadratic Lyapunov function and Linear Matrix Inequalities(LMI).Finally,to verify the effectiveness of the proposed control scheme,some simulation results are employed to show the effectiveness of the proposed methodology.
