A review of science–policy interface for water governance in the Caspian Sea

Snow depth estimation is an important parameter that guides several hydrological applications and climate change *** advances in remote sensing technology and enhanced satellite observations,the estimation of snow depth at local scale still requires improved accuracy and *** advances in ubiquitous and wearable technology promote new prospects in tackling this *** this paper,a wearable IoT platform that exploits pressure and acoustic sensor readings to estimate and classify snow depth classes using some machine-learning models have been put ***,the results of Random Forest classifier showed an accuracy of 94%,indicating a promising alternative in snow depth measurement compared to in situ,LiDAR,or expensive large-scale wireless sensor network,which may foster the development of further affordable ecological monitoring systems based on cheap ubiquitous sensors.

For the first time,the solubility ofβ-carotene in pure and ethanol-modified subcritical water(SW)using the static method was *** experimental runs were performed at a temperature ranging from 298.15 to 403.15 K and 0–10%(w/w)of ethanol as a modifier at a constant pressure of 5 *** were analyzed by UV–vis *** solubility ofβ-carotene was found to range from 1.084×10^-8 to 227.1×10^-8 mol fractions in the subcritical water in above mentioned *** obtainedβ-carotene solubility data were correlated using the linear model and modified Apelblat *** obtained results showed the modified Apelblat model was better for estimating the solubility ofβ-carotene in *** values of the rootmean-square deviation(RMSD)between experimental and correlated data were calculated and used as the index of validity and accuracy for the ***,thermodynamic properties of the solution such as the Gibbs free energy of solution,enthalpy,and entropy of solution were estimated.

Using uncertainty and sensitivity analysis for finding the best rainfall-runoff model in mountainous watersheds(Case study: the Navrood watershed in Iran)

In watersheds that have not sufficient meteorological and hydrometric data for simulating rainfall-runoff events, using geomorphologic and geomorphoclimatic characteristics of watershed is a conventional method for the simulation. A number of rainfall-runoff models utilize these characteristics such as Nash-IUH, Clark-IUH, Geomorphologic Instantaneous Unit Hydrograph(GIUH), Geomorphoclimatic Instantaneous Unit Hydrograph(GcIUH), GIUH-based Nash(GIUH-Nash) and GcIUH-based Clark(GcIUH-Clark). But all these models are not appropriate for mountainous watersheds. Therefore, the objective of this study is to select the best of them for the simulation. The procedure of this study is: a) selecting appropriate rainfall-runoff events for calibration and validation of six hybrid models, b) distinguishing the best model based on different performance criteria(Percentage Error in Volume(PEV); Percentage Error in Peak(PEP); Percentage Error in Time to Peak(PETP); Root Mean Square Error(RMSE) and Nash-Sutcliffe model efficiency coefficient(ENS)), c) Sensitivity analysis for determination of the most effective parameter at each model, d) Uncertainty determination of different parameters in each model and confirmation of the obtained results by application of the performance criteria. For application of this procedure, the Navrood watershed in the north of Iran as a mountainous watershed has been considered. The results showed that the ClarkIUH and GcIUH-Clark are suitable models for simulation of flood hydrographs, while other models cannot simulate flood hydrographs appropriately. The sensitivity analysis shows that the most sensitive parameters are the infiltration constant rate and time of concentration in the Clark-IUH model. Also, the most sensitive parameters include the infiltration constant rate and storage coefficient in the GcIUHClark model. Construction of managed aquifer recharge structures(MARS) to store floodwater is a common strategy for storing depleted groundwater resources in arid and semi-arid regions, as part of integrated water resources management(IWRM). MARS divert surface water to groundwater, but this can affect downstream fluvial processes. The impact of MARS on fluvial processes was investigated in this study by combining remote sensing techniques with hydro-sediment modeling for the case of the Kaboutar-aliChay aquifer, northwestern Iran. The impact of MARS on groundwater dynamics was assessed, sedimentation across the MARS was modeled using a 2 D hydrodynamic model, and morphological changes were quantified in the human-impacted alluvial fan using Landsat time series data and statistical methods. Changes were detected by comparing data for the periods before(1985 e1996) and after(1997 e2018) MARS construction. The results showed that the rate of groundwater depletion decreased from2.14 m/yr before to 0.86 m/yr after MARS construction. Hydro-sediment modeling revealed that MARS ponds slowed water outflow, resulting in a severe decrease in sediment load which lead to a change from sediment deposition to sediment erosion in the alluvial fan. Morphometric analyses revealed decreasing alluvial fan area and indicated significant differences(p ali-Chay alluvial fan changed from à0.228 to à0.115 km2/year between pre-and post-impact periods.

We study genuine entanglement among three qubits undergoing a noisy process that includes dissipation, squeezing,and decoherence. We obtain a general solution and analyze the asymptotic quantum states. We find that most of these asymptotic states can be genuinely entangled depending upon the parameters of the channel, memory parameter, and the parameters of the initial states. We study Greenberger–Horne–Zeilinger(GHZ) states and W states, mixed with white noise,and determine the conditions for them to be genuinely entangled at infinity. We find that for these mixtures, it is possible to start with a bi-separable state(with a specific mixture of white noise) and end with genuine entangled states. However, the memory parameter μ must be very high. We find that in contrast to the two-qubit case, none of the three-qubit asymptotic states for n → ∞ are genuinely entangled.

This paper investigates an efficient immersed boundary method(IBM)for multiple-core CPU machines with local grid refinement for the calculation of heat transfer between fluids and finite-sized *** fluid momentum equations are solved by using the fractional step method,while the energy equation is solved by employing the second-order Adams-Bashforth *** efficient load balancing between the CPU cores,the coupling between particles and fluid is obtained by applying the body force in the fluid equations,which depends on the solid volume fraction of particles contained in each grid cell,and then by linearly interpolating the particle temperature and velocity on the fluid grid cell(in place of the delta function commonly used in literature).Several test cases from the literature are studied,and good agreement is observed between the simulation results and the ***,a scaling study on multiple core machines is performed,demonstrating the proposed IBM's capabilities for a significant reduction in processing time.
