This investigation elucidates the properties of indium oxide (In2O3) thin films used as antireflection front electrodes in p-n junction solar cells. The deposition conditions of In2O3 film by spray pyrolysis were optimized for solar cell applications. Microstructure, surface morphology and optical properties of these films were then characterized and analyzed. Next, the effects of substrate temperature on In2O3 film growth were discussed. The In2O3 thickness was optimized considering that the refractive index of μc-Si emitter layer optimizes its optical characteristics and solar cell spectral response. The increasing in solar cell conversion efficiency was 7.4% with an open circuit voltage (VOC) of 0.48 V, fill factor (FF) of 0.473, and short circuit current density (JSC) of 13.2 mA/cm2. The optimum thickness and refractive index obtain a minimum reflectance for a single-layer ARC.

Population dynamics of Japanese threadfin bream Nemipterus japonicus from Pakistani waters

Japanese threadfin bream Nemipterus japonicus（Bloch, 1791） is among the most abundant and commercially important species in Pakistan. From the coast of Pakistan, four demersal trawl surveys in October–November 2009 and May–June, August, October and November in 2010 were carried out. The purpose of this study is to estimate the population dynamics and status of the stock of the N. japonicus from Pakistani waters based on the research trawl surveys from the research area. The data consist of n=784 length-weight pairs and n=7 530 length frequency with the maximum length and weight of 29 cm and 358 g respectively. The length frequency data were analyzed using ELEFAN method in FiSAT computer package. The parameters of length and weight relationship were b=2.778, a=0.032 and R2=0.973. The estimated von Bertalanffy growth function parameters were L∞=30.45 cm, K=0.270 year-1. Based on length-converted catch curve analysis the total mortality（z） during this study was estimated at 0.960 year-1. The natural mortality coefficient（M） was 0.74 year-1 using Pauly＇s equation（the annual average sea surface temperature was 27°C）, therefore, the fishing mortality coefficients（F） were 0.22 year-1. The yield per recruit analysis indicated that when tc was 2, Fmax was estimated at 1.2 and F0.1 at 1.1. When tc was 1, Fmax was estimated at 0.95 and F0.1 at 0.8. Because current age at first capture is about 1 year and Fcurrent was 0.22, Fcurrent is smaller than F0.1 and Fmax, which indicated that the fishery is about in a safe condition. When using gulland（1971） biological reference point, Fopt was equals to M（0.74）. The current fishing mortality rate of 0.22 was smaller than the target biological reference point.

Aging is the leading risk factor for neurodegenerative diseases and oxidative stress involved in the pathophysiology of these diseases. These changes increase during menopausal condition in females when the level of estradiol is decreased. The aim of the present study was to determine the effect of tachykinin neuropeptide, Neurokinin B (NKB) and Amyloid beta fragment Aβ (25 -?35) on 17β estradiol (E2) treated aging female rat synaptosomes of different age groups. Aging brain functions were assayed by measuring the activities of antioxidant enzymes—superoxide dismutase (SOD) and monoamine oxidase (MAO) with neuropeptides. An in-vitro incubation of Aβ (25 -?35) in E2 treated brain synaptosomes showed toxic effects on all the parameters. However, NKB and NKB combined with Aβ (25 35) showed stimulating effects in E2 treated rat brain synaptosomes. In the present study, an increase in activity of SOD and decrease in the level of MAO, in the presence of NKB and combined NKB and Aβ in E2 treated brain synaptosomes of aging rats. This study elucidates that treatment of NKB and Aβ with E2 incombination exerts more protective influence than their individual application, against excitotoxicity in age related changes.

The present work performs self-consistent ab initio full-potential linear muffin-tin orbital (FP-LMTO) method to study the structural and electronic properties of the ternary znxCd1-xSe alloy, based on density functional theory (DFT). In this approach, both the local density approximation (LDA) and the generalized gradient approximation (ggA) were used for the exchange-correlation potential calculation. The ground-state properties are determined for the bulk materials CdSe, znSe and their alloy in cubic phase. In particular, the lattice constant, bulk modulus, electronic band structures and effective mass. We mainly showed deviation of the lattice parameter and bulk modulus from Vegard’s law of our alloys. We also presented the microscopic origins of the gap bowing using the approach of zunger et al. The results are compared with other theoretical calculations and experimental data and are in reasonable agreement.

Smart phones with unlimited applications are considered essential for modern day lifestyle, hence the number of cell phone users has sky rocketed in this decade. The high percentage of children and teenagers carrying cell phones has caused controversy on how justified having a minor carrying a communication device is. There is no doubt about the fact that parents have to be able to contact their children, however, a child with a phone and poor judgment will most probably be vulnerable to the outer world with all its’ threats and abuses. Furthermore, we have the serious health issues related to wireless devices effects on people, under those circumstances multiple solutions have been presented for a safe secure method for parents to track their children without the need of cell phones. The proposed alternatives included phones with limited privileges for children;these phones are restricted to the ability of calling specific people only and have already installed applications for tracking location. Our proposed system “kids’ tracker” includes a wearable device for the child and an Android application on the parents’ smart phone. Kids’ tracker has shown a very decent performance with many unique features compared to other existing solutions.

The brain experiences structural, molecular and functional alterations during aging. In aging brain tissue, the oxidative stress increases due to decreased activity of antioxidant enzymes and increased oxidative stress leading to neurodegeneration associated with excitotoxicity. In the present study, we observed the effect of tachykinin neuropeptide Neurokinin B (NKB) and amyloid beta fragment Aβ (25 -?35) on the activity of Acetylcholine esterase (AChE) and Lipid peroxidation (LPO) in brains of 17β estradiol (E2) treated aging female rat synaptosomes of different age groups. An in-vitro incubation of E2 treated brain synaptosomes with Aβ (25 -?35) showed toxic effects on all the parameters. The treatment of NKB and combined NKB and Aβ (25 -?35) increased the AChE enzyme activity and decreased the level of LPO in E2 treated aging rats. The treatment of NKB and combined NKB and Aβ (25 - 35) in a concentration dependent manner reversed the effects of aging and Aβ (25 -?35) on AChE and LPO. The present finding suggests that E2 along with NKB reverse aging and Aβ (25 -?35) induced toxicity as well as AChE and LPO levels. The results of the current study showed a possible beneficial role of NKB with E2 inthe age related neurological diseases.
