Well selection in depleted oil and gas fields for a safe CO_(2) storage practice: A case study from Malaysia

Carbon capture and sequestration technology is recognized as a successful approach taken to mitigate the amount of greenhouse gases released into the atmosphere.However,having a successful storage practice requires wise selection of suitable wells in depleted oil or gas fields to reduce the risk of leakage and contamination of subsurface resources.The aim of this paper is to present a guideline which can be followed to provide a better understanding of sophisticated wells chosen for injection and storage practices.Reviewing recent studies carried out on different aspects of geosequestration indicated that the fracture pressure of seals and borehole conditions such as cement-sheath integrity,distance from faults and fractures together with the depth of wells are important parameters,which should be part of the analysis for well selection in depleted reservoirs.A workflow was then designed covering these aspects and it was applied to a depleted gas field in Malaysia.The results obtained indicated that Well B in the field may have the potential of being a suitable conduit for injection.Although more studies are required to consider other aspects of well selections,it is recommended to employ the formation integrity analysis as part of the caprock assessment before making any decisions.

水力结构是植物应对环境形成的与水分运输相关的形态策略。探索不同演替阶段和群落不同高度层植物的水力结构特征,有助于理解植物的水分运输和利用策略。该研究以浙江天童常绿阔叶林演替前中后期群落的上层木(占据林冠层的树种)和下层木(灌木层物种)为对象,测定了演替共有种(至少存在于两个演替阶段的物种)和更替种(仅存在于某一演替阶段的物种)的枝边材比导率、叶比导率和胡伯尔值,以及边材疏导面积、末端枝总叶面积和枝条水势,分析植物水力结构在群落上层木和下层木间以及在演替阶段间的差异,及其与枝叶性状的相关关系。结果显示:(1)上层木植物边材比导率和叶比导率显著高于下层木植物(p0.05);上层木的胡伯尔值在演替阶段间无显著差异,下层木的胡伯尔值随演替显著下降(p<0.05);(3)上层木共有种仅边材比导率随演替进行显著降低(p<0.05),更替种的3个水力结构参数在演替阶段间无显著差异;下层木共有种水力结构参数在演替阶段间无明显差异,更替种仅胡伯尔值随演替减小(p<0.05);(4)植物边材比导率与枝疏导面积和末端枝所支撑的总叶面积显著正相关(p<0.01),胡伯尔值与枝条水势及末端枝总叶面积显著负相关(p<0.01)。以上结果表明:天童常绿阔叶林演替各阶段上层木比下层木具有更大的输水能力和效率;随着演替进行,上层木与下层木的共有种和更替种边材比导率的相反变化表明上层木水力结构的变化可能由微生境变化引起,而下层木水力结构特征的变化可能由物种更替造成。

Depleted gas reservoirs are used for a large-scale carbon dioxide(CO_(2))storage and reduction of the greenhouse gas released into the atmosphere.To identify a suitable depleted reservoir,it is essential to do a preliminary and comprehensive assessment of key storage factors such as storage capacity,injectivity,trapping mechanisms,and containment.However,there are a limited number of studies providing a preliminary assessment of CO_(2) injectivity potential in depleted gas reservoirs prior to a CO_(2) storage operation.The aim of this study is to provide a preliminary assessment of a gas field located in Malaysia for its storage potential based on subsurface characterization prior to injection.Evaluation of the reservoir interval based on the facies,cores,and wireline log data of a well located in the field indicated that the pore type and fabrics analysis is very beneficial to identify suitable locations for a successful storage practice.Although the results obtained are promising,it is recommended to combine this preliminary assessment with the fluid-mineral interactions analysis before making any judgment about reliability of storage sites.

探究叶片性状的空间变异性和环境关联性有助于我们理解植物对环境的适应策略和群落建构机制。该研究以浙江天童5 hm2大型动态样地所有胸径≥1 cm的木本植物为对象,测定了20 253株个体的单叶面积、比叶面积和叶片干物质含量,土壤总氮、总磷、总碳、p H值、体积含水率、容重和腐殖质,以及海拔、坡度和凹凸度等;并用地统计学等方法分析了叶片性状的空间变异性及其与环境因子的相关性。结果表明:1)单叶面积的空间变异最大,比叶面积次之,叶片干物质含量最小。三者在0–5.16 m空间范围内表现出较弱的空间自相关,其半变异函数的最优模型分别为高斯模型、指数模型和指数模型。2)叶片性状空间变异具有方向性,单叶面积空间变异在东北-西南方向上最大,在西北-东南方向上最小;比叶面积和叶片干物质含量的空间变异均在西北-东南方向最大,在东北-西南方向最小。3)单叶面积与地形因子显著负相关(r=–0.12,p<0.000 1);比叶面积与土壤养分显著负相关(r=–0.16,p<0.000 1),叶片干物质含量与土壤养分显著正相关(r=0.13,p<0.000 1)。4)东北-西南方向上,地形因子对单叶面积、比叶面积和叶片干物质含量空间变异的影响大于土壤养分;西北-东南方向上,地形因子对单叶面积空间变异的影响相对较大,而土壤养分对比叶面积和叶片干物质含量空间变异的影响较大。总之,在研究样地内,植物叶片性状随空间距离和方向存在很大的变异性,叶片性状与地形因子、土壤养分的关联性间接表明了环境过滤对群落构建的影响。

目的:探讨儿童眼球开放伤的发生原因;频率;严重程度;治疗;视力恢复及预防。方法:本研究包括15岁以下儿童眼球开放伤。使用裂隙灯检查角膜及巩膜裂伤,前房积血,虹膜脱出等。部分病例使用裂隙灯联合90D眼底镜检查眼底。经必要的检查后行急诊手术。结果:注册的43例(55%)儿童中,男占67%,女占33%。致伤物为玻璃,铅笔,木棍等。致伤部位为角膜占62.7%,巩膜占25.6%,角巩膜缘占11.7%。初次就诊伤眼视力6/60以上占32.5%,6/24以上占9.3%,6/12以上占2.3%。37.2%病例为光感。36例手术病例中有29例有术后随访。10.4%病例的最终视力为3/60,24.2%病例的最终视力为6/60,17.2%病例的最终视力为6/24。34.4%的病例的最终视力为光感。10.4%的病例发生眼球萎缩。结论:眼外伤是儿童人群中视力丧失的一个主要原因。在家庭及户外活动中采用必要的预防措施至关重要。

Photoluminescence and structural analysis of wurtzite(ZnO)1-x(V2O5)x composite

This paper demonstrates the structural, vibrational and photoluminescence characteristics of(ZnO)(VO)(x = 0, 3, 6 and 9 mol%) composites semiconductor synthesized by using the solid state reaction method. X-ray diffraction(XRD) studies show that(ZnO)(VO)composites have the poly crystalline wurtzite structure of hexagonal Zn O. It is found from the XRD results that the lattice constants and the crystallite size increase while the dislocation density decreases with increase in doping concentration. The existence of E1(TO) and E2(high) Raman modes show that the Zn O still preserve wurtzite structure after doping vanadium oxide, which is in agreement with XRD results. Room temperature photoluminescence(PL) exhibit near band edge and broad deep level emission while indicating the suppression of deep level emission with the incorporation of VOup to a certain concentration(x < 9). Moreover, the optical band gap increase with doping, which is accompanied by the blue shift of the NBE emission.

We report the hydrothermal growth of pure and doped TiO2 nanoparticles with different concentrations of carbon.The microstructure of the as-synthesized samples is characterized by x-ray diffraction(XRD),field emission scanning electron microscopy(FESEM),energy dispersive x-ray spectroscopy(EDX),and Raman spectroscopy to understand the structure and composition.The XRD patterns confirm the formation of anatase phase of TiO2 with the average crystallite size is calculated to be in the range of 13 nm to 14.7 nm.The functional groups of these nanostructures are characterized by Fourier transformed infrared(FT-IR)spectroscopy,which further confirms the single anatase phase of the synthesized nanostructures.UV-visible absorption spectroscopy is used to understand the absorption behavior,which shows modification in the optical bandgap from 3.13 eV(pure TiO2)to 3.74 eV(1.2 mol%C-doped TiO2).Furthermore,the Ti^3+centers associated with oxygen vacancies are identified using electron paramagnetic resonance spectroscopy(EPR).

Clustered regularly interspaced short palindromic repeats-associated protein(CRISPR/Cas9),an adaptive microbial immune system,has been exploited as a robust,accurate,efficient and programmable method for genome targeting and editing.This innovative and revolutionary technique can play a significant role in animal modeling,in vivo genome therapy,engineered cell therapy,cancer diagnosis and treatment.The CRISPR/Cas9 endonuclease system targets a specific genomic locus by single guide RNA(sgRNA),forming a heteroduplex with target DNA.The Streptococcus pyogenes Cas9/sgRNA:DNA complex reveals a bilobed architecture with target recognition and nuclease lobes.CRISPR/Cas9 assembly can be hijacked,and its nanoformulation can be engineered as a delivery system for different clinical utilizations.However,the efficient and safe delivery of the CRISPR/Cas9 system to target tissues and cancer cells is very challenging,limiting its clinical utilization.Viral delivery strategies of this system may have many advantages,but disadvantages such as immune system stimulation,tumor promotion risk and small insertion size outweigh these advantages.Thus,there is a desperate need to develop an efficient non-viral physical delivery system based on simple nanoformulations.The delivery strategies of CRISPR/Cas9 by a nanoparticle-based system have shown tremendous potential,such as easy and large-scale production,combination therapy,large insertion size and efficient in vivo applications.This review aims to provide in-depth updates on Streptococcus pyogenic CRISPR/Cas9 structure and its mechanistic understanding.In addition,the advances in its nanoformulation-based delivery systems,including lipid-based,polymeric structures and rigid NPs coupled to special ligands such as aptamers,TAT peptides and cell-penetrating peptides,are discussed.Furthermore,the clinical applications in different cancers,clinical trials and future prospects of CRISPR/Cas9 delivery and genome targeting are also discussed.
