A flow field around a streamlined body at an intermediate angle of incidence is dominated by cross-flow separation and vortical flow fields. The separated flow leads to a pair of vortices on the leeside of the body; therefore, it is essential to accurately determine this pair and estimate its size and location. This study utilizes the element-based finite volume method based on RANS equations to compute a 3D axisymmetric flow around a SUBOFF bare submarined hull. Cross-flow vortex structures are then numerically simulated and compared for a submarine with SUBOFF and DRDC STR bows. Computed results of pressure and shear stress distribution on the hull surface and the strength and locations of the vortex structures are presented at an intermediate incidence angle of 20°. A wind tunnel experiment is also conducted to experimentally visualize the vortex structures and measure their core locations. These experimental results are compared with the numerical data, and a good agreement is found.

During initial evolution of human residences, the balance between human and nature was determined by nature and the relationship between human and nature was one-way. In the first stages of urbanization, humans did not have the required equipment for intervening in nature and upset the balance in it. Even after that, they would refrain from widely modification and destroying of nature when they became narrowly artisan. This balance was unhurt for a long time in history until the 19th century, where this relationship was broken by the rapid advancement of technology and as a result the increase in urbanization. Accordingly, presenting a model in order to preserve the relationship between human and nature in the city seems to be of a great significance. This research is carried out by a qualitative method in a descriptive-analytic form has reached a model through combining naturism, moralism, humanism and phenomenology as a novel approach in the relationship between human and nature in the city with an emphasis on the philosophical concept of nature and study of the types of the relationship between human, nature and city, nature during history and the current condition of nature in the cities.

Investigating Efficacy of “Working Memory Training Software” on Students Working Memory

The aim of the present study is developing “Working Memory Training Software”, and investigating its content validity and the efficacy of this computerized cognitive training on students working memory. This study is in R & D research category, and it is performed in a semi-experimental design. Its data were collected from students of the third grade (30), fourth grade (30), and fifth grade (12) of primary school. After specifying the software content validity by asking expertise opinions, and investigating these opinions through Spearman Test (rs = 1), these children attended in intervention program for 10 sessions. The subtests of working memory in “Tehran-Stanford-Binet Intelligence Scale” and “Wechsler intelligence scale for children” were conducted in all three groups on the pre-test and post-test. After elimination of the pre-test effect, Paired-Samples T-Test on total scores of subtests of working memory in “Tehran-Stanford Binet Intelligence Scale” (t = 10.869, df = 71, r = 0.967 & P < 0.05) and in “Wechsler intelligence scale for children” (t = 16.809, df = 71, r = 0.983 & P < 0.05) reveals a significant difference in post-test scores. Based on this study the Working Memory Training Software has proper psychometric properties and causes significant improvement in students working memory performance.

To the editor： WANG and his colleagues provided the evidence that ＂both melanopsin-containing and super/or collicular retinal ganglion cells were damaged by chronic ocular hypertension, indicating that glaucomatous neural degeneration involves the non-image-forming visual pathway＂） These cells as the authors have beautifully described dealing with a variety of functions including biological clock; pupillary light reaction and they are affected by glaucoma. The report is scientific and quite interesting. I would like to congratulate the authors for their superb studies.

Cyclic voltammetry and potentiodynamic polarization analyses were utilized to investigate the mechanism and kinetics of glycine leaching reactions for *** effects of pH(9−12),temperature(30−90℃)and glycine concentration(0−2 mol/L)on corrosion current density,corrosion potential and cyclic voltammograms were investigated using chalcopyrite concentrate−carbon paste *** showed that an increase in the glycine concentration from 0 to 2 mol/L led to an increased oxidation peak current *** the same conditions,corrosion current density was found to change from approximately 28 to 89μA/cm2,whereas corrosion potential was decreased from−80 to−130 *** temperatures enhanced the measured current densities up to 60℃;however,above this level,current density was observed to decrease.A similar current density behavior was determined with pH.A pH change from 9 to 10.5 resulted in an increase in current density and pH higher than 10.5 gave rise to a reduced current *** addition,the thermodynamic stability of copper and iron oxides was found to increase at higher temperatures.

We used SDSPAGE to evaluate and characterize the protein patterns of seed storage proteins in four pistachios cultivars (akbari, Ahmad Aghaei, Fandoghi, and Kaleghouchi). Total protein content of pistachio seeds in all cultivars did not show any significant difference. Results of SDS PAGE pattern of a few protein bands were up regulated whereas some other bands showed down regulation. The identified protein patterns may be used protein marker for pistachio cultivars.

Prolonged QTc Interval Is an Electrophysiological Hallmark of Cirrhotic Cardiomyopathy

BACKGROUND: Cirrhotic Cardiomyopathy is a relatively ill-characterized condition, which is often under-diagnosed due to absence of defined diagnostic criteria. ECG showing corrected QT Interval prolongation is the most suitable available option for diagnosis of this condition. OBJECTIVE: To determine the frequency of corrected QT interval prolongation in patients with liver cirrhosis. METHODOLOGY: Patients (n = 166) with confirmed cirrhosis, 30 years or older, presented in the outpatient and emergency department of medicine at Capital Hospital Islamabad between 1 October 2011 and 30 September 2012, were enrolled in this cross-sectional study after taking consent. ECG was done using calibrated ECG machine, and the QT Interval was measured. Corrected QT was calculated using Bazett’s formula and a QTc of more than 0.44 seconds was considered as being prolonged. RESULTS: The mean age of the patients was 57.05 ± 12.03 years. The corrected QT Interval varied from 337 ms to 560 ms. The mean QTc Interval was 429.92 ms ± 45.11. QTc was prolonged in 41 out of 166 patients (24.7%). Frequency of QTc prolongation was 4.5% in Child Pugh Grade A, 23.2% in Child Pugh Grade B, and 32.0% in Child Pugh Grade C. Association of Child Pugh Scoring with QTc prolongation was determined and found to be statistically significant (P < 0.05). CONCLUSION: QTc interval was prolonged in 24.7% of cirrhotic patients in our study. There was a significant increase in frequency with worsening of Child Pugh Grade, thereby indicating an association between QTc prolongation and the severity of cirrhosis.

In this article, we investigate some exact wave solutions to the higher dimensional time-fractional Schrodinger equation, an important equation in quantum mechanics. The fractional Schrodinger equation further precisely describes the quantum state of a physical system changes in time. In order to determine the solutions a suitable transformation is considered to transmute the equations into a simpler ordinary differential equation (ODE) namely fractional complex transformation. We then use the modified simple equation (MSE) method to obtain new and further general exact wave solutions. The MSE method is more powerful and can be used in other works to establish completely new solutions for other kind of nonlinear fractional differential equations arising in mathematical physics. The affect of obtaining parameters for its definite values which are examined from the solutions of two dimensional and three dimensional time-fractional Schrodinger equations are discussed and therefore might be useful in different physical applications where the equations arise in this article.

Mud losses are one of the most severe problems encountered in drilling. This is commonly known as lost circulation. It can occur in naturally fractured formations and also can be induced in formations through drilling. Mud losses while drilling leading to cost overruns and HSE concerns, primary cement job failure due to not getting the cement up to the desired height resulting in subsequent sustained casing pressure and corrosion, not able to perform work over activity on certain wells due to losses. The objective of this paper is to explain extreme lost circulation problem and introduce cement plug formulation to cure or mitigate this problem. In addition, the cement plug has certain compressive strength that this is proper for use to control lost circulation in field. And finally, the application of a cement plug is described in one well of the Gas Field (National Iranian Oil Company).
