Safety and outcome of treatment of metastatic melanoma using 3-bromopyruvate: a concise literature review and case study

3-Bromopyruvate(3BP) is a new, promising anticancer alkylating agent with several notable functions. In addition to inhibiting key glycolysis enzymes including hexokinase II and lactate dehydrogenase(LDH), 3BP also selectively inhibits mitochondrial oxidative phosphorylation, angiogenesis, and energy production in cancer cells. Moreover, 3BP induces hydrogen peroxide generation in cancer cells(oxidative stress effect) and competes with the LDH substrates pyruvate and lactate. There is only one published human clinical study showing that 3BP was effective in treating fibrolamellar hepatocellular carcinoma. LDH is a good measure for tumor evaluation and predicts the outcome of treatment better than the presence of a residual tumor mass. According to the Warburg effect, LDH is responsible for lactate synthesis, which facilitates cancer cell survival, progression, aggressiveness, metastasis, and angiogenesis. Lactate produced through LDH activity fuels aerobic cell populations inside tumors via metabolic symbiosis. In melanoma, the most deadly skin cancer, 3BP induced necrotic cell death in sensitive cells, whereas high glutathione(GSH) content made other melanoma cells resistant to 3BP. Concurrent use of a GSH depletor with 3BP killed resistant melanoma cells. Survival of melanoma patients was inversely associated with high serum LDH levels, which was reported to be highly predictive of melanoma treatment in randomized clinical trials. Here, we report a 28-year-old man presented with stage IV metastatic melanoma affecting the back, left pleura, and lung. The disease caused total destruction of the left lung and a high serum LDH level(4,283 U/L). After ethics committee approval and written patient consent, the patient received 3BP intravenous infusions(1-2.2 mg/kg), but the anticancer effect was minimal as indicated by a high serum LDH level. The present paper aims to develop the Kuhn-Tucker and Fritz John criteria for saddle point optimality of interval-valued nonlinear programming *** achieve the study objective,we have proposed the definition of minimizer and maximizer of an interval-valued non-linear programming ***,we have introduced the interval-valued Fritz-John and Kuhn Tucker saddle point *** that,we have established both the necessary and sufficient optimality conditions of an interval-valued non-linear minimization ***,we have shown that both the saddle point conditions(Fritz-John and Kuhn-Tucker)are sufficient without any convexity *** with the convexity requirements,we have established that these saddle point optimality criteria are the necessary conditions for optimality of an interval-valued non-linear programming with real-valued ***,all the results are derived with the help of interval order ***,we illustrate all the results with the help of a numerical example.

This paper aims to assess the effect of dry band location of contaminated porcelain insulators under various flashover voltages due to *** locations of dry bands are proposed to be tested under different severity of contamination artificially produce using salt deposit density(SDD)sprayed on an *** tests of polluted insulators under proposed scenarios have been *** flashover voltage of clean insulators has been identified as a reference value to analyze the effect of contamination distribution and its *** dry band dimension has been taken into consideration in experimental *** flashover voltage has been predicted using an artificial neural network(ANN)technique based on the laboratory test *** ANN approach is constructed with five input data(geometry the insulator and parameters of contamination)and flashover voltage as the output of the *** indicated that the pollution distribution based on the proposed scenario has a significant influence on the flashover voltage *** of the ANN model reveals that the relative error values between the experimental results and the prediction appeared to be within 5%.This indicates the significant efficiency of the ANN technique in predicting the flashover voltage insulator under test.

In this study,we investigate the thermodynamic characteristics of the Rindler–Schwarzschild black hole *** analysis encompasses the examination of energy emission,Gibbs free energy,and thermal *** calculate various quantities such as the Hawking temperature,geometric mass,and heat capacity to assess the local and global thermodynamic *** temperature of the black hole is determined using the first law of thermodynamics,while the energy emission rate is evaluated as *** computing the Gibbs free energy,we explore the phase transition behavior exhibited by Rindler–Schwarzschild black hole,specifically examining the swallowing ***,we derive the corrected entropy to investigate the influence of thermal fluctuations on small and large black ***,we compare the impact of correction terms on the thermodynamic system by comparing the results obtained for large black holes and small black holes.

The Role of Local Satellite Channels in Social Development of The Emirati Society A Survey Study on a Sample of UAE Audience

The paper investigates the contributions of TV Social Programs in UAE channels in promoting the social changes among youths in UAE, and to what extent it effects their attitudes towards the society and its values and traditions. The study used the expecting value model and the third person effect concept in analyzing the perceptions of the UAE＇s youths towards the practices of local channels. The sample of the study was 200 male and female from several emirates. The study concluded that 88% of the audience in UAE watch the UAE satellite channels. Dubai channel comes in the top most watched channels, followed by Sharjah Channel, then Abu Dhabi channel. Most of the audience watch these channels in their homes. 78% of the audience watch the TV social programs. The most watched program is Khatwa program in abd Dhabi channels, followed by shabnaa program. The reasons for watching the social programs are： finding relieve from their problems （66%）, the diversity of these programs （64%）, and the popularity of social programs＇ anchors （5%）. The most discussed issues are Youths problems and unemployment （91%）, local problems （73%）, divorce issues （31%）. They said that these programs encourages for persevering the local heritage （62%）, respect the family values （51%）, and social traditions （48%）. While the most positive features of the social programs are： promote the local anchors （90%）, the most negative features are promoting the western values （94%）, and discussing some issues which are not fit with the local traditions （88%）. In general the study found that the local TV channels played an important role in social changes in UAE.

Nuclear Matrix Protein-22 and Telomerase Reverse Transcriptase Are Diagnostic Markers for Bladder Carcinoma in Egypt

Bladder carcinoma is the foremost oncologic problem among males in Egypt. Here, we evaluated the possible diagnostic value of the urinary Nuclear Matrix Protein-22 “NMP-22” and Telomerase Reverse Transcriptase “hTERT” among histological subtypes of bladder cancer. 120 males with non-muscle invasive bladder cancer, 21 non malignant bladder conditions and 21 healthy volunteers were included in this study. Estimation of hTERT and NMP-22 was done by PCR-ELISA and ELISA, respectively, from voided urine and results were compared to those of urine cytology. Results showed that urinary hTERT and NMP-22 were significantly higher in all cancer patients compared to control group. NMP-22 was able to discriminate between transitional cell bladder carcinoma “TCC” patients and squamous cell bladder carcinoma “SqCC” ones. Both markers succeded to discriminate between some transitional cell bladder carcinoma grades. Additionally, hTERT discriminated between some Tumor stages in both TCC and SqCC. Our results demonstrated that urinary hTERT and NMP-22 could be efficient urinary markers for the differential diagnosis of bladder cancer.

Uses of Social Networking Sites and Satisfactions Achieved by Emirati Youth： A Field Study on a Sample of Sharjah University Students

The study, throughout the usage of Emirati youth for the social networking sites and satisfactions achieved, illustrated that the nature of those networks is considered a rapidly developing method of communication, which is accompanied by attempts to impose a number of short abbreviated vocabulary to be used among the youth. Since social networking sites represent one of the most significant tremendous development aspects of information technology, which reached its peak during the last decade, the researcher considered the importance of conducting this study in order to know the impact of social networking sites on the youth through Intemet, blogs and chat rooms, as well as attempting to confront them and making them aware of their importance in their daily lives. Accordingly, the study has focused on a random category of youth, whose ages are ranging between 17-21 years old of university students, as being the highest category of usage. Results revealed the following： A high percentage of Emirati youth 77.5% mentioned that they ＂always＂ use those sites; the percentage of males, who ＂always＂ use social media reached 38.5% while the percentage of females reached 61, since the meaningful value reached 0.05〉0.044, which indicated that WhatsApp, YouTube, Twitter and Facebook are the most commonly used social media by the study individuals. Most of the study individuals use the social networking sites daily 84%, and there are statistically significant differences between males and females in terms of the times of using social media. A high percentage of the Emirati youth uses Internet for more than three hours daily; especially in the evenings, and there are not statistically significant differences between males and females in terms of the most common periods in which social media are used, and the most common age groups of using social media from one year and more range between 17-20. ＂Home＂ is the most favorite place of using social media （85.40% mentioned that）. We introduce a new integral scheme namely improved Kudryashov method for solving any nonlinear fractional differential ***,we apply the approach to the nonlinear space-time fractional model leading the wave to spread in electrical transmission lines(s-tfETL),the time fractional complex Schrödinger(tfcS),and the space-time M-fractional Schrödinger-Hirota(s-tM-fSH)models to verify the effectiveness of the proposed *** implementing of the introduced new technique based on the models provides us with periodic envelope,exponentially changeable soliton envelope,rational rogue wave,periodic rogue wave,combo periodic-soliton,and combo rational-soliton solutions,which are much interesting phenomena in nonlinear *** the results disclose that the proposed technique is very effective and straight-forward,and such solutions of the models are much more fruitful than those from the generalized Kudryashov and the modified Kudryashov methods.
