Communication-less Management Strategy for Electric Vehicle Charging in Droop-controlled Islanded Microgrids

Adopting high penetration levels of electric vehicles(EVs)necessitates the implementation of appropriate charging management systems to mitigate their negative impacts on pow-er distribution ***,most of the proposed Ev charging management techniques rely on the availability of high-bandwidth communication *** techniques are far from realization due to①the lack of utility-grade communica-tion systems in many cases such as secondary(low-voltage)pow-er distribution systems to which EVs are connected,rural ar-eas,remote communities,and islands,and②existing fears and concerns about the data privacy of EV users and cyber-physical *** these cases,appropriate local control schemes are needed to ensure the adequate management of EV charging without violating the grid operation ***,this paper introduces a new communication-less management strategy for EV charging in droop-controlled islanded *** proposed strategy is autonomous,as it is based on the measurement of system frequency and local bus *** proposed strategy implements a social charging fairness policy during periods when the microgrid distributed genera-tors(DGs)are in short supply by allocating more system capaci-ty to the EVs with less charging in the ***,a novel communication-less EV load shedding scheme is incorpo-rated into the management strategy to provide relief to the mi-crogrid during events of severe undervoltage or underfrequency occurrences due to factors such as high loading or DG *** simulations demonstrate the superiority of the pro-posed strategy over the state-of-the-art controllers in modulat-ing the EV charging demand to counteract microgrid instability.

Supercritical carbon dioxide extraction of Triognella foenum graecum Linn seeds:Determination of bioactive compounds and pharmacological analysis

Objective: To investigate the effect of temperature and pressure on supercritical CO_2 extraction of Triognella foenum graecum Linn seeds, to determine the optimal condition which leads to highest percentage of the accumulative yield and revealing the chemical composition of supercritical CO_2 ***: Temperatures in the range of 40–60C and pressures in the range of 10–25 MPa were used. FTIR and GC–MS analysis were used to detect the bioactive compounds present in the extract. The broth dilution method and slope method were used to evaluate the anti-microbial and anti-tuberculosis activities and the in vitro anti-malarial assay was carried out according to the micro assay protocol of Rieckmann and his ***: The temperature was more affected than the pressure on the extraction performance and the highest yield of the extract(3.111%) was attained at 60C and 10 *** and GC–MS showed that the chemical composition of the extract included conjugated linoleic acid methyl ester as the major active principle(with concentration of72.28%), followed by saturated fatty acid methyl esters(16.03%), steroids(8.09%) and organic siloxane compound(3.61%). The extract showed moderate anti-bacterial activity with MIC values 100, 250, 125 mg/m L towards Escherichia coli, Staphylococcus aureus and Streptococcus pyogenus respectively. It exhibited high inhibition effect towards the fungi Candida albican with MFC value(250 mg/m L). The extract had low antituberculosis activity with MIC value(100 mg/m L) and comparable MIC value(0.29 mg/m L) towards Plasmodium ***: Supercritical CO_2 extraction as alternate and green technology is performed successfully to extract the bioactive compounds from the seeds of T. foenum graecum Linn and it is concluded that this extract can be used as an alternate source of synthetic anti-biotic drugs.

Probiotic bacteria attenuates cisplatin-induced nephrotoxicity through modulation of oxidative stress, inflammation and apoptosis in rats

Objective: To investigate the effects of probiotic bacteria on cisplatin(CP)-induced nephrotoxicity. Methods: In the present study, 50 Sprague-Dawley rats were used and randomly divided into five groups including control, CP, probiotic bacteria treatment groups with different doses(0.5 and 1 mL) and only probiotic bacteria group. After CP and probiotic administration on seven days, rats sacrificed under anesthesia on the eighth day. The serum urea, creatinine, and blood urea nitrogen levels were analyzed. In renal tissue, malondialdehyde levels, superoxide dismutase and glutathione activity, interleukin-8, interleukin-1β and tumor necrosis factor-alpha levels were determined and histopathological and immunohistochemical changes were also examined. Results: According to results, urea, creatinine and blood urea nitrogen levels as well as kidney weights increased in CP group. Also, CP induced inflammation, oxidative stress, DNA damage and apoptosis in kidney tissue and caused histopathological changes. Administration of the high dose of probiotic bacteria could prevent these changes and damages. Conclusions: This study reveals that probiotic bacteria has protective effects on CP-induced renal damage in rats.

Synthesis and characterization of carbon-coated cobalt ferrite nanoparticles

Cobalt ferrite nanoparticles（CFNPs） were prepared via a reverse micelle method. The CFNPs were subsequently coated with carbon shells by means of thermal chemical vapor deposition（TCVD）. In this process, acetylene gas（C2H2） was used as a carbon source and the coating was carried out for 1, 2, or 3 h at 750℃. The ar/C2H2 ratio was 10：1. Heating during the TCVD process resulted in a NP core size that approached 30 nm; the thickness of the shell was less than 10 nm. The composition, structure, and morphology of the fabricated composites were characterized using X-ray diffraction, simultaneous thermal analysis, transmission electron microscopy, high-resolution transmission electron microscopy, and selected-area diffraction. A vibrating sample magnetometer was used to survey the samples＇ magnetic properties. The deposited carbon shell substantially affected the growth and magnetic properties of the CFNPs. Micro-Raman spectroscopy was used to study the carbon coating and revealed that the deposited carbon comprised graphite, multiwalled carbon nanotubes, and diamond-like carbon. With an increase in coating time, the intensity ratio between the amorphous and ordered peaks in the Raman spectra decreased, which indicated an increase in crystallite size.

A supervised multimanifold method with locality preserving for face recognition using single sample per person

Although real-world experiences show that preparing one image per person is more convenient, most of the appearance-based face recognition methods degrade or fail to work if there is only a single sample per person(SSPP). In this work, we introduce a novel supervised learning method called supervised locality preserving multimanifold(SLPMM) for face recognition with SSPP. In SLPMM, two graphs: within-manifold graph and between-manifold graph are made to represent the information inside every manifold and the information among different manifolds, respectively. SLPMM simultaneously maximizes the between-manifold scatter and minimizes the within-manifold scatter which leads to discriminant space by adopting locality preserving projection(LPP) concept. Experimental results on two widely used face databases FERET and ar face database are presented to prove the efficacy of the proposed approach.

IntroductionA rapidly increasing need for organ transplantation and short list of donated organs have led to the development of new materials and technologies for organ manufacturing. Although some simple organs, such as skin and cartilage, have been successfully fabricated and commercialized, it is still difficult to make tissues and organs with high complexity. Engineered tissues have other biomedical applications, such as drug screening models and bio-actuators. Threedimensional （3D） bioprinting has become a great tool to fabricate tissue constructs on demand for transplantation and other biomedical applications.

A Late Cretaceous ensimatic arc developed during closure of the northern branch of Neo-Tethys(central-northern Turkey)

Studies on differentiation of ensimatic arc units from melange units in the Northern Anatolian Ophiolitic Belt(NAOB) are very rare. The study area represents the southern edge of the central part of the *** aim of the study is to distinguish the main units of NAOB and to define the geotectonic setting of the Darmik Ensimatic arc Association(DEAA). To study the ensimatic arc units as an independent tectonic unit is important and facilitates understanding of the geological evolution of the NAOB. During field studies, the contact relationships within the Darmik Ensimatic arc Association(DEAA) units and also with other tectonic units were reviewed. Then, paleontological, geochronological, petrological and also geochemical properties of the DEAA have been defined. In the present study, ensimatic arc units have been distinguished from ophiolitic association for the first time, in the region. As a result of the study, the DEAA is divided into two levels and lower level named as the Kartal unit and upper level named as the izibüyük unit. In the Kartal unit, basaltic and andesitic lavas with their equivalent pyroclastic rock units are dominant. Radiolarite and mudstones interbedded within the Kartal unit of DEAA have Turonian and Santonian age. In addition, the age of basalt samples of DEAA are 98.7 ± 2.4 Ma, defined using the^(40)ar/39 ar method. The izibüyük unit of DEAA comprises conglomerate, sandstone, claystone, mudstone,clayey limestone, micritic limestone with volcanic interbeds and also calciturbidites. Santonian-Maastrichtian ages were obtained from this unit of the DEAA. In conclusion, the age of DEAA is widely accepted as Late Cretaceous. After the evaluation of the analysis, the volcanics of the DEAA originated from calcalkaline-basalts, which reflect ensimatic arc magmatism.
