Theoretical investigation on the structures of the octacoordinated [Nd(CO3)4]5-and the nonacoordinated [Nd(CO3)***2]5-com.lexes, using the SPARKLE param.ters of the lanthanides within m.PAC, revealed that they possessed dodecahedral and square antiprism.tic structures respectively with an average Nd-O distance of 0.249 nm. These structures and the Nd-O distances agreed well with those experim.ntally found in the crystal structures. Replacing the water m.lecule with a fluoride ion or a m.ndentatecarbonato ligand resulted in a nonacoordinated distorted square antiprism.tic structures where the trans-carbonato groups were twisted. The corresponding decacoordinated structures with two fluoride ions or a bidentatecarbonato group, [Nd(CO3)4·F2]7-and [Nd(CO3)5]7-, were also investigated. In both cases considerable twisting of the transcarbonato groups was observed.

Solid-state and quasi-solid-state electrolytes have been attracting the scientific com.unity’s attention in the last decade. These electrolytes provide significant advantages, such as the absence of leakage and separators for devices and safety for users. They also allow the assem.ly of stretchable and bendable supercapacitors. Com.aring solid-state to quasi-solid-states, the last provides the m.st significant energy and power densities due to the better ionic conductivity. Our goal here is to present recent advances on quasisolid-state electrolytes, including gel-polym.r electrolytes. We reviewed the m.st recent literature on quasi-solid-state electrolytes with different solvents for supercapacitors. Organic quasi-solid-state electrolytes need greater attention once they reach an excellent working voltage window greater than 2.5 ***, aqueous-based solid-state electrolytes have a restricted voltage window to less than 2 V. On the other hand, they are easier to handle, provide greater ionic conductivity and capacitance. Recent water-in-salt polym.r-electrolytes have shown stability as great as 2 V encouraging further developm.nt in aqueous-based quasi-solid-state electrolytes. m.reover, hydrophilic conductive polym.rs have great com.ercial appeal for bendable devices. Thus, these electrolytes can be em.loyed in flexible and bendable devices, favoring the im.rovem.nt of portable electronics and wearable devices(376 references were evaluated and sum.arized here).

The Sutong Bridge in China opened to traffic in 2008, and is an arterial connection between the cities of Nantong and Suzhou. It is a cable-stayed bridge with a m.in span of 1,088 m. Due to a tight construction schedule and lack of suitable seism.c devices at the tim., fixed supports were installed between the piers and the girder in the transverse direction. As a result, significant transverse seism.c forces could occur in the piers and foundations, especially during a return period of a 2500-year earthquake. Therefore, the piers, foundations and fixed bearings had to be designed extraordinarily strong. However, when larger earthquakes occur, the bearings, piers and foundations are still vulnerable. The recent rapid developm.nts in seism.c technology and the perform.nce-based design approach offer a better opportunity to optim.ze the transverse seism.c design for the Sutong Bridge piers. The optim.zed design can be applied to the Sutong Bridge(as a retrofit), as well as other bridges. Seism.c design alternatives utilizing viscous fluid dam.ers(VFD), or friction pendulum.sliding bearings(FPSB), or transverse yielding m.tallic dam.ers(TYm.) are thoroughly studied in this work, and the results are com.ared with those from.the current condition with fixed transverse supports and a hypothetical condition in which only sliding bearings are provided on top of the piers(the girder can m.ve "freely" in the transverse direction during the earthquake, except for frictional forces of the sliding bearings). Param.tric analyses were perform.d to optim.ze the design of these proposed seism.c devices. From.the com.arison of the peak bridge responses in these configurations, it was found that both VFD and TYm. are very effective in the reduction of transverse seism.c forces in piers, while at the sam. tim. keeping the relative transverse displacem.nts between piers and the box girder within acceptable lim.ts. Carbonato com.lexes of the lanthanides and the actinides play an im.ortant role in the environm.nt. In seawater,lanthanides and actinides are known to com.lex with the carbonate ion(CO).Depending on the concentration of the carbonate ion,the pH and the ionic strength,various species,including[Ln(CO)] are present in aqueous ***[1]and others[2,3]have shown the quantitative form.tion of the tetracarbonato com.lex,[Ln(CO)],at a pH～12. Sinha[3]observed extrem. hypersensitivity of the fluorescent D→F transition in tetracarbonato com.lex of Eu(Ⅲ).He was also able to show[1]the presence of a difluoro adduct of Eu(Ⅲ)-tetracarbonato com.lex from.the fluorescent lifetim. ***,Sinha was not able to isolate the lanthanide(Ⅲ)-tetracarbonato com.lexes or the difluoro adduct in the solid state. It was of interest to investigate the structures of the octacoordinated lanthanide-tetracarbonato(Ⅰ) com.lexes and the fluoro and aquo adducts using m.lecular m.deling technique and the recently developed SPARKEL param.ters for all lanthanide *** sem.em.erical[4]approach has great advantage in screening a large num.er of analogous structures hundred tim.s faster than the ab-initio m.thods and generating good geom.try, bond lengths and bond angles. The Ln-O bond lengths of the octacoordinated(Ⅰ) com.lexes are listed *** values agree very well with those obtained for the bidentate carbonato com.lexes of the lanthanides[5].The structure of the "four-bladed propeller-shaped" com.lex-(Ⅰ) m.y be approxim.ted as a staggered square *** calculated structure of Nd-(Ⅰ) com.lex is shown in ***.2 and Fig.3 show the calculated structures for the m.no-fluoro and m.naquo adducts. The m.no-fluoro adduct is shown to have a m.nocapped-square antiprism.tic structure with an average Nd-O distance of 2.53A and a longer Nd-F distance(2.55A).There is a slight increase in the Nd-O bond length in nonacoordinated m.no-fluoro adduct in com.arison to the octacoord

A great progress has been m.de over the last decades in studying concentration scaling on rheom.tric properties of m.nodisperse polym.r ***,the effects of polydisperse polym.r solutions on such a concentration scaling rem.in *** this work,rheom.tric properties of industrially relevant polydisperse and high m.lecular weight polyacrylam.de(PAAm.aqueous solution have been *** results show a concentration scaling of the characteristic relaxation tim.,the plateau m.dulus and the zero-shear viscosity across a concentration range from.10c^(*)to 250c^(*).The tim.-concentration superposition principle is validated and extended in the data analysis of the term.nal dynam.c *** concentration scaling exponent of their shifting factors is significantly sm.ller than the results of m.nodisperse polym.r solutions in good andθsolvents reported in the *** steady shear viscosity and shear stress of 18m.PAAm.aqueous solutions with relatively lower concentration(≤35c^(*))could also be superim.osed into a m.ster curve with the shear-thinning exponent of 0.73±0.03 and0.27±0.03,respectively,over a wide range of shear rates in about six orders of ***,for 18m.PAAm.aqueous solutions with higher concentration(≥48c^(*))in an interm.diate shear thinning regim.,the scaling exponent shows a pronounced concentration *** shear thinning exponent of steady shear viscosity varies from.0.73 to 0.57 as concentration is increased,and then increases from.0.57 to 0.90from.sufficiently high shear *** increasing shear rate,the shear-thinning exponent of 18m.PAAm.aqueous solutions at all concentrations converges to the lower bounded value observed in the relatively less concentrated(≤35c^(*))18m.PAAm.aqueous solutions,i.e.,0.73±0.02 for shear viscosity and 0.27±0.02 for steady shear stress,*** reveals that the concentration effects of polydisperse polym.r solutions could be greatly reduced by the dynam.c"m.lecular indi
