Recent advances on quasi-solid-state electrolytes for supercapacitors

Solid-state and quasi-solid-state electrolytes have been attracting the scientific community’s attention in the last decade. These electrolytes provide significant advantages, such as the absence of leakage and separators for devices and safety for users. They also allow the assembly of stretchable and bendable supercapacitors. comparing solid-state to quasi-solid-states, the last provides the most significant energy and power densities due to the better ionic conductivity. Our goal here is to present recent advances on quasisolid-state electrolytes, including gel-polymer electrolytes. We reviewed the most recent literature on quasi-solid-state electrolytes with different solvents for supercapacitors. Organic quasi-solid-state electrolytes need greater attention once they reach an excellent working voltage window greater than 2.5 V.Meanwhile, aqueous-based solid-state electrolytes have a restricted voltage window to less than 2 V. On the other hand, they are easier to handle, provide greater ionic conductivity and capacitance. Recent water-in-salt polymer-electrolytes have shown stability as great as 2 V encouraging further development in aqueous-based quasi-solid-state electrolytes. Moreover, hydrophilic conductive polymers have great commercial appeal for bendable devices. Thus, these electrolytes can be employed in flexible and bendable devices, favoring the improvement of portable electronics and wearable devices(376 references were evaluated and summarized here).

Electrical double-layer capacitors(EDLcs)consist of energy storage devices that present high-power and moderate energy density.The electrolyte and electrode physicochemical properties are crucial for improving their overall energy storage capabilities.Therefore,the stability of the EDLcs’materials is the primary focus of this study.Since energy storage depends on the specific capacitance,and also on the square of the maximum capacitive cell voltage(UMcV).Thus,electrodes with high specific surface area(SSA)and electrolytes with excellent electrochemical stability are commonly reported in the literature.Aqueous electrolytes are safer and green devices compared to other organic-based solutions.On the other hand,their UMcVis reduced compared to other electrolytes(e.g.,organic-based and ionic liquids).In this sense,spanning the UMcVfor aqueous-based electrolytes is a’hot topic’research.Unfortunately,the lack of protocols to establish reliable UMcVvalues has culminated in the publishing of several conflicting results.Herein,we confirm that multiwalled carbon nanotubes(MWcNTs)housed in cells degrade and produce cO_(2) under abusive polarisation conditions.It is probed by employing electrochemical techniques,in-situ FTIR and in-situ Raman spectroscopies.From these considerations,the current study uses spectro-electrochemical techniques to support the correct determination of the electrode and electrolyte stability conditions as a function of the operating electrochemical parameters.

Universal concentration Scaling on Rheometric Properties of Polydisperse and High Molecular Weight Polyacrylamide Aqueous Solutions

A great progress has been made over the last decades in studying concentration scaling on rheometric properties of monodisperse polymer solutions.However,the effects of polydisperse polymer solutions on such a concentration scaling remain elusive.In this work,rheometric properties of industrially relevant polydisperse and high molecular weight polyacrylamide(PAAm)aqueous solution have been studied.The results show a concentration scaling of the characteristic relaxation time,the plateau modulus and the zero-shear viscosity across a concentration range from 10c^(*)to 250c^(*).The time-concentration superposition principle is validated and extended in the data analysis of the terminal dynamic regime.The concentration scaling exponent of their shifting factors is significantly smaller than the results of monodisperse polymer solutions in good andθsolvents reported in the literature.The steady shear viscosity and shear stress of 18M PAAm aqueous solutions with relatively lower concentration(≤35c^(*))could also be superimposed into a master curve with the shear-thinning exponent of 0.73±0.03 and0.27±0.03,respectively,over a wide range of shear rates in about six orders of magnitudes.However,for 18M PAAm aqueous solutions with higher concentration(≥48c^(*))in an intermediate shear thinning regime,the scaling exponent shows a pronounced concentration dependence.The shear thinning exponent of steady shear viscosity varies from 0.73 to 0.57 as concentration is increased,and then increases from 0.57 to 0.90from sufficiently high shear rate.Further increasing shear rate,the shear-thinning exponent of 18M PAAm aqueous solutions at all concentrations converges to the lower bounded value observed in the relatively less concentrated(≤35c^(*))18M PAAm aqueous solutions,i.e.,0.73±0.02 for shear viscosity and 0.27±0.02 for steady shear stress,respectively.It reveals that the concentration effects of polydisperse polymer solutions could be greatly reduced by the dynamic"molecular individualism”in strong shear flow.

Hernia repair is the most common general surgical procedure performed in the United States;however,historically,there has been a surprising lack of consensus regarding hernia complications and their management.The development of international,prospectively-collected databases such as the Americas Hernia Society Quality collaborative has introduced a new era of evidence-based practice around the prevention and management of these complications.This review seeks to equip surgeons with evidence-based techniques for prevention and management of the most common complications of open ventral hernia repair.

全氟化合物是一种新型持久性有机污染物,污水处理厂是其一个主要污染来源。目前还没有建立起一种统一的污泥样品中全氟化合物的分析方法。本文报道了一种基于液相萃取和高效液相色谱-串联质谱联用技术测定污泥中的7种全氟烷基羧酸及其2种不饱和氟调酸前体物、2种全氟烷基磺酸及其5种磺酰胺衍生物前体物的方法。实验对萃取剂(甲醇)的pH值、超声萃取温度与时间、洗脱剂体积进行了优化,确定了中性溶剂、40℃下超声萃取10min,Envicarbon柱净化的前处理方法,并成功地应用于实际污泥样品中全氟化合物的测定。方法的回收率为74%～141%(不饱和氟调酸除外),线性范围为0.1～20μg/L(羧酸系列)及0.25～50μg/L(磺酸系列)内线性关系良好(r2>0.99),定量限为0.6～30μg/kg(干重)。内标物质的使用可有效消除环境基质引起的仪器离子抑制现象,使定量更加准确。

Pork Meat Quality of Preto Alentejano and commercial Largewhite Landrace cross

This work aimed to evaluate the physical-chemical characteristics of pork from a local breed （Portuguese black pork called Preto Alentejano） and a commercial breed. Sixteen animals were used, 4 females and 4 males from each breed. Animals had 80-100 kg of live weight. The longissimus muscle between the 5th thoracic vertebra and the 10th lumbar vertebra was used in the analysis. Samples were analysed for protein, fat, pigments, ashes, dry mater, water-holding capacity, and texture. Results of fat and pigments contents indicate signiifcant （P〈0.05 and P〈0.01） differences for all treatments. For protein, ashes, dry mater, water-holding capacity and texture, no signiifcant differences were found for sex. In the analysis of fatty acids composition, ten were detected, being the main ones c16：0, c18：0, c16：1, c18：1, c18：2. There was a predominance of monounsaturated fatty acids （MUFA）, followed by saturated （SFA） and polyunsaturated （PUFA）. Differences were signiifcant for sex （P〈0.01） and breed （P〈0.01）. Preto Alentejano breed and females presented the higher percentages of SFA （P〈0.01） and MUFA （P〈0.001） fatty acids. Differences between breeds might be due to breed production system and feed differences.

The effect of FER zeolite acid sites in methanol-to-dimethyl-ether catalytic dehydration

In this paper, the effect of acidity of zeolites with FER framework was studied in the methanol dehydration to dimethyl ether reaction, by comparing catalysts with different Si/Al ratios(namely 8, 30 and60). The aim of this work was to investigate how the acid sites concentration, strength, distribution and typology(Br?nsted and Lewis) affect methanol conversion, DME selectivity and coke formation. It was found that the aluminium content affects slightly acid sites strength whilst a relevant effect on acid sites concentration and distribution(Br?nsted/Lewis) was observed as 24% of Lewis sites were found on Alrichest samples, whilst less than 10% of Lewis acid sites were observed on FER at higher Si/Al ratio. All the investigated catalyst samples showed a selectivity toward DME always greater than 0.9 and samples with the lowest Si/Al ratio exhibit the best performances in terms of methanol conversion, approaching the theoretical equilibrium value(around 0.85) at temperatures below 200 °c. Turnover-frequency analysis suggests that this result seems to be related not only to the higher amount of acid sites but also that the presence of Lewis acid sites may play a significant role in converting methanol. On the other hand, the presence of Lewis acid sites, combined with a high acidity, promote the formation of by-products(mainly methane) and coke deposition during the reaction. As final evidence, all the investigated catalysts exhibit very high resistance to deactivation by coke deposition, over 60 h continuous test, and a Gc–MS analysis of the coke deposited on the catalyst surface reveals tetra-methyl benzene as main component.

Recently,planar collections of Feynman diagrams were proposed by Borges and one of the authors as the natural generalization of Feynman diagrams for the computation of k=3 biadjoint amplitudes.Planar collections are one-dimensional arrays of metric trees satisfying an induced planarity and compatibility condition.In this work,we introduce planar matrices of Feynman diagrams as the objects that compute k=4 biadjoint amplitudes.These are symmetric matrices of metric trees satisfying compatibility conditions.We introduce two notions of combinatorial bootstrap techniques for finding collections from Feynman diagrams and matrices from collections.As applications of the first,we find all 693,13612 and 346710 collections for(k,n)=(3,7),(3,8)and(3,9),respectively.As applications of the second kind,we find all90608 and 30659424 planar matrices that compute(k,n)=(4,8)and(4,9)biadjoint amplitudes,respectively.As an example of the evaluation of matrices of Feynman diagrams,we present the complete form of the(4,8)and(4,9)biadjoint amplitudes.We also start a study of higher-dimensional arrays of Feynman diagrams,including the combinatorial version of the duality between(k,n)and(n-k,n)objects.

Molecular modeling of the octacoordinated tetracarbonato-Nd(III), [Nd(cO_3)_4]^(5-), complex and its nonacoordinated fluoro- and aquo-adducts

Theoretical investigation on the structures of the octacoordinated [Nd(cO3)4]5-and the nonacoordinated [Nd(cO3)4.OH2]5-complexes, using the SPARKLE parameters of the lanthanides within MOPAc, revealed that they possessed dodecahedral and square antiprismatic structures respectively with an average Nd-O distance of 0.249 nm. These structures and the Nd-O distances agreed well with those experimentally found in the crystal structures. Replacing the water molecule with a fluoride ion or a mondentatecarbonato ligand resulted in a nonacoordinated distorted square antiprismatic structures where the trans-carbonato groups were twisted. The corresponding decacoordinated structures with two fluoride ions or a bidentatecarbonato group, [Nd(cO3)4·F2]7-and [Nd(cO3)5]7-, were also investigated. In both cases considerable twisting of the transcarbonato groups was observed.

The title complexes were modeled using the semiempirical MOPAc and the newly developed SPARKLE paramerters of the lanthanides. The calculated bond dis tances and angles agreed well with those found from crystal structure measuremen ts. This technique allows us to screen a large number of molecules and get struc tural information within a very short time.
