Abdominal pain related to exercis., often loos.ly referred to as.‘s.itch’, is.not uncommon, particularly among participants.in s.orts.that involve running. The caus. of this.typically trans.ent pain is.poorly unders.ood with s.veral aetiologies.propos.d including diaphragmatic is.haemia. Other gas.rointes.inal s.mptoms.that are common during prolonged or high-intens.ty exercis. include naus.a, diarrhoea and gas.rointes.inal bleeding . Thes. s.mptoms.are als. us.ally trans.ent and are thought to protect agains. critical organ damage by promoting ces.ation of exercis.. Decreas.d gas.rointes.inal blood flow, increas.d motility and altered neuroendocrine modulation are pos.ulated dis.as. mechanis.s. We report here a cas. of an elite runner with exercis.-related s.vere abdominal pain and diarrhoea related to compres.ion of the coeliac axis.by the median arcuate ligament. Complete s.mptom relief was.achieved with s.rgical divis.on of the cons.ricting ligament. The clinical characteris.ics.and pathogenes.s.of coeliac axis.compres.ion s.ndrome are dis.us.ed.

Background During the COVID-19 pandemic,decreas.d volumes.of s.roke admis.ions.and mechanical thrombectomy were *** s.udy’s.objective was.to examine whether s.barachnoid haemorrhage(s.H)hos.italis.tions.and ruptured aneurys. coiling interventions.demons.rated s.milar *** We conducted a cros.-s.ctional,retros.ective,obs.rvational s.udy acros. 6 continents.37 countries.and 140 comprehens.ve s.roke *** with the diagnos.s.of s.H,aneurys.al s.H,ruptured aneurys. coiling interventions.and COVID-19 were identified by pros.ective aneurys. databas.s.or by International Clas.ification of Dis.as.s.10th Revis.on,*** 3-month cumulative volume,monthly volumes.for s.H hos.italis.tions.and ruptured aneurys. coiling procedures.were compared for the period before(1 year and immediately before)and during the pandemic,defined as.1 March-31 May *** prior 1-year control period(1 March-31 May 2019)was.obtained to account for s.as.nal *** There was.a s.gnificant decline in s.H hos.italis.tions.with 2044 admis.ions.in the 3 months.immediately before and 1585 admis.ions.during the pandemic,repres.nting a relative decline of 22.5%(95%CI−24.3%to−20.7%,ps.tion of ruptured aneurys.s.declined with 1170-1035 procedures.res.ectively,repres.nting an 11.5%(95%CI−13.5%to−9.8%,p=0.002)relative *** analys.s.was.noted for aneurys.al s.H hos.italis.tion decline from 834 to 626 hos.italis.tions.a 24.9%relative decline(95%CI−28.0%to−22.1%,ps. in ruptured aneurys. coiling was.noted in low coiling volume hos.itals.of 41.1%(95%CI 32.3%to 50.6%,p=0.008)des.ite a decreas. in s.H admis.ions.in this.*** There was.a relative decreas. in the volume of s.H hos.italis.tions.aneurys.al s.H hos.italis.tions.and ruptured aneurys. embolis.tions.during the COVID-19 *** findings.in s.H are cons.s.ent with a decreas. in other emergencies.s.ch as.s.roke and myocardial infarction.
