The aim of this study was to evaluate quality of life of patients infected with brucellosis compared to a control population from the same geographic region. The quality of life of brucellosis positive and brucellosis negative individuals from rural and urban areas of Mexico was evaluated using the short-Form sF-36 Health survey. This survey is a generic measure of physical and mental health-related quality of life. Data analysis was performed using one-way analysis of variance and the Tukey test. Brucellosis patients had lower overall quality of life compared with the controls. Brucellosis patients from rural areas had lower overall quality of life (p pared with brucellosis patients from urban areas. In conclusion, human brucellosis affects quality of life, with patients living in rural areas most severely impacted. This may be due to the lack of local public policies and programs for the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of brucellosis.

Multiple myeloma(MM)is a hematological malignancy characterized by the accumulation of immunoglobulin-secreting clonal plasma cells at the bone marrow(BM).The interaction between MM cells and the BM microenvironment,and specifically BM mesenchymal stem cells(BM-MsCs),has a key role in the pathophysiology of this *** data support the idea that BM-MsCs not only enhance the proliferation and survival of MM cells but are also involved in the resistance of MM cells to certain drugs,aiding the progression of this hematological *** relation of MM cells with the resident BM-MsCs is a two-way *** modulate the behavior of BM-MsCs altering their expression profile,proliferation rate,osteogenic potential,and expression of senescence *** turn,modified BM-MsCs can produce a set of cytokines that would modulate the BM microenvironment to favor disease *** interaction between MM cells and BM-MsCs can be mediated by the secretion of a variety of soluble factors and extracellular vesicles carrying microRNAs,long non-coding RNAs or other ***,the communication between these two types of cells could also involve a direct physical interaction through adhesion molecules or tunneling ***,understanding the way this communication works and developing strategies to interfere in the process,would preclude the expansion of the MM cells and might offer alternative treatments for this incurable disease.

The development and implementation of sustainable and environmentally friendly agricultural practices are indispensable as alternatives to pesticide use and to keep populations of soil-borne plant pathogens at levels that do not affect crop *** present research evaluates the incidence of soil-borne phytopathogens on the pineapple variety MD-2,which was subjected to different treatments:Incorporation of Crotalaria juncea into the soil(organic amendment),application of dolomitic lime to soil(inorganic amendment),and the use of plastic mulch covering the *** the crop cycle(15 months),the following variables were evaluated:plant height(cm),fruit weight(kg·plant^(−1)),crop yield(ton·ha^(−1)),the bud root disease incidence caused by phytophthora nicotianae,number of soil phytoparasitic nematodes and colony-forming-units(CFUs)of soil fungi and *** results indicate that Crotalaria juncea treatment reduced the pathogen population(nematode and oomycetes)at levels that did not affect crop development,so that yield increased(18–20%).The incorporation of *** into the soil as an organic amendment favors the populations of fungi disease suppressors(Trichoderma-Aspergillus).The phytoparasitic nematodes(Meloidogyne sp.,pratylenchus sp.,and Mesocriconema sp.)and oomycetes(phytophthora spp.,and pythium spp.)showed a reduction of their population levels by effects of organic amendment(***).The plastic mulch was also effective,probably due to the maintenance of optimal condition to crop growth and weed ***,the dolomitic lime application had the poorest effect under the conditions of the study area on the variables *** described observations are characteristics of a system-based approach for the potential management of soil-borne pathogens of pineapple MD-2 in Veracruz,México.

In a previous companion paper [1], the potential advantages of high resolution radar for improved target detection were introduced. In particular, the concept of shaping both the transmitted waveform and the receiving processor in accordance to the expected target down-range profile was highlighted and performance predictions were provided. In this paper, we present and evaluate an adaptive scheme devised to on-line estimate the target profile, in order to overcome a limited a-priori knowledge. In addition, we introduce a more general model of target impulse response, based on a statistical description, and we discuss the corresponding processing scheme and detection performance.

Objective:To identify the anti-inflammatory activity through two murine models and in the median Lethal Dose(LD_(50)) of three dietary supplements that contain Moussonia ***:The anti-inflammatory activity of three dietary supplements(Cicatrisan/Gastricus^(R),Gastinol^(R),and Gastrovita^(R)) EtOH extracts was evaluated by TpA and by carrageenan murine models;also,median Lethal Dose(LD_(50)) was *** was quantified by High-performance Liquid Chromatography.β-sitosterol,stigmasterol and the mixture of ursolic and oleanolic acids were identified in all supplements by TLC;however,none of these dietary supplements contain ***:For the TpA model,Cicatrisan/Gastricus^(R)generated a notable effect with 38.24%*** in the carrageenan model,it also exhibited noteworthy anti-inflammatory activity of ear edema with 66.39%of paw edema inhibition at 150 mg/kg,followed by Gastinol^(R) and Gastrovita^(R) with 50%at 300 mg/***,LD_(50) was >2 g/kg for all supplements,when was administered intragastrically and Body Weight(BW) gain in mice was not altered after 14 ***:Of the three food supplements containing ***,only the EtOH extract from the Cicatrisan/Gastricus^(R)formulation(tablets) showed significant anti-inflammatory activity in both experimental models and the LD_(50) was > 2 g/kg.

The objective of this exploratory study is to discover the relations between visual attention to an architectural work and the subjective experiences produced during its observation.A subjective experience with a building is the specific manner in which an architectural element or the building as a whole are presented to a *** qualities of the element as how they are perceived and the inner world of the observer are both considered in this subjective *** aims of this study are to describe the experience that a building generates in people,pinpoint what has attracted the participant's attention during each view of the building in an itinerary;and understand which aspects of this selected case study have made it an object of attend *** eye-tracking study was carried out using a portable eye *** tool allowed the participants to walk freely around the exterior of a historic train station in the city of Monterrey,*** groups of participants,with routes starting from opposite sides of the building,contemplated it while using the eye *** tracking allowed for the identification of the architectural elements that were objects of attention,the lengths of observation,and the points of view from which the elements were *** data collection techniques,such as the think-aloud protocol and a special type of survey,were used to deeply understand the experiences that accompanied the visual exploration of the historic *** suggest that the participants observed the different architectural elements for a time that was neither influenced by the route used to explore the building nor the point where that route was *** architectural elements identified as examples of high-quality architecture and perceived as aesthetically pleasing by the participants during the itinerary were observed for longer times.

Two ternary Al-2.2Zn-0.95Mg and ***-2.1Mg （in wt pct） alloys, with Zn：Mg ratios close to 2.5 were produced by conventional ingot casting metallurgy. The ingots were solution heat treated at 500℃ for 0.5 h and aged at 180℃ for times between 0.5 and 80 h. The structural characterization was carried out by X-ray diffraction （XRD）, transmission electron microscopy （TEM）, selected area electron diffraction （sAED） and Vickers mierohardness measurements （HV）. The study was focused on the investigation of the precipitates formation and the relationship between hardness and lattice parameter for α-Al. The results showed that there was an inverse correlation for all the experimental conditions, and the aged peaks coincided with lattice parameter minima. significant precipitates formation only occurred for the alloy containing 5.5 wt pct Zn and 2.1 wt pct Mg, provoking an important strengthening and variations in the lattice parameter, however, this was not observed for the alloy containing 2.2 wt pct Zn and 0.95 wt pct Mg. A plausible explanation of the increment of hardness values could be the presence of a well distributed η phase （MgZn2）. At initial stages of the precipitation process, η′ was the most abundant precipitate while the phase τ- was observed at overaged conditions. These results showed that the aging response of the conventionally cast Al-Zn-Mg alloys could be obtained using the lattice parameter of the α-Al matrix, even for alloy systems with low precipitates formation.

porcine respiratory disease complex （pRDC） is a serious health problem that mainly affects growing and finishing pigs. pRDC is caused by a combination of viral and bacterial agents, such as porcine reproductive and respiratory syndrome virus （pRRsV）, swine influenza virus （sIV）, Mycoplasma hyopneumoniae （Myh）, Actinobacillus pleuropneumoniae （App）, pasteurella multocida and porcine circovirus 2 （pCV2）. To characterize the specific role of swine influenza virus in pRDC presentation in Colombia, 11 farms from three major production regions in Colombia were examined in this study. Nasal swabs, bronchial lavage and lung tissue samples were obtained from animals displaying symptoms compatible with sIV. Isolation of sIV was performed in 9-day embryonated chicken eggs or Madin-Darby Canine Kidney （MDCK） cells. positive isolates, identified via the hemagglutination inhibition test, were further analyzed using pCR. Overall, 7 of the 11 farms were positive for sIV. Notably, sequencing of the gene encoding the hemagglutinin （HA） protein led to grouping of strains into circulating viruses identified during the human outbreak of 2009, classified as pandemic H1N1-2009. serum samples from 198 gilts and multiparous sows between 2008 and 2009 were obtained to determine antibody presence of App, Myh, pCV2 and pRRsV in both sIV-H1Nlp-negative and -positive farms, but higher levels were recorded for sIV- HI Nlp-positive farms. Odds ratio （OR） and p values revealed statistically significant differences （p〈0.05） in pRDC presentation in gilts and multiparous sows of farms positive for sIV-HINlp. Our findings indicate that positive farms have increased risk of pRDC presentation, in particular, pCV2, App and Myh.
