T follicular helper expansion and humoral-mediated rejection are independent of the HVEM/BTLA pathway

The molecular pathways contributing to humoral-mediated allograft rejection are poorly defined. In this study, we assessed the role of the herpesvirus entry mediator/B- and T-lymphocyte attenuator （HVEM/BTLA） signalling pathway in the context of antibody-mediated allograft rejection. An experimental setting was designed to elucidate whether the blockade of HVEM/BTLA interactions could modulate de novo induction of host antidonor-specific antibodies during the course of graft rejection. To test this hypothesis, fully allogeneic major histocompatibility complex-mismatched skin grafts were transplanted onto the right flank of recipient mice that were treated with isotype control, anti-CD40L or modulatory antibodies of the HVEM/BTLA signalling pathway. The frequencies of CD4 T follicular helper （Tfh） cells （B220-, CD4＋ CXCR5＋ PD-lhigh）, extrafollicular helper cells （B220-, CD4＋ CXCR5- PD-1＋ and PD-1-） and germinal centre （GC） B cells （B220＋Fas＋ GL7＋） were analysed by flow cytometry in draining and non-draining lymph nodes at day 10 post transplantation during the acute phase of graft rejection. The host antidonor isotype-specific humoral immune response was also assessed. Whereas blockade of the CD40/CD40L pathway was highly effective in preventing the allogeneic humoral immune response, antibody-mediated blockade of the HVEM/BTLA-interacting pathway affected neither the expansion of Tfh cells nor the expansion of GC B cells. Consequently, the course of the host antidonor antibody-mediated response proceeded normally, without detectable evidence of impaired development. In summary, these data indicate that HVEM/BTLA interactions are dispensable for the formation of de novo host antidonor isotype-specific antibodies in transplantation.

Interpretation of Data in Psychology： A False Problem, a True Issue

In psychology, the concept of interpretation has been namely associated to the subjectivist paradigm underpinning qualitative approaches, rather than the objectivist paradigm charactefising quantitative research. In this article, we challenge this belief by showing how interpretation concerns psychology as a whole. To do this, the authors will first consider some dominant tendencies characterising the psychological field in general, such as the ＂empiricist illusion＂ and the ＂trap of scientism＂（Vygotsky 1999）. Moreover, they will introduce the cultural perspective in psychology, pertinent to deconstruct several assumptions regarding research within the discipline. Stemming from this approach, ＂indirect methods＂ will be presented with regard to their potential to analyse psychological phenomena both qualitatively and scientifically. They will conclude by describing a set of principles that can be implemented when doing qualitative research as to ensure the quality and the adequacy of interpretation.

This paper1 addresses different theoretical frameworks of organizational learning （OL） from two aspects： from the perspective of individuals to organizations and from the perspective of organizations to individuals. The most significant finding is intended to highlight the guidelines for each of researchers＇ concentrated cluster and to demonstrate that different researchers present different guidelines for processes, individual skills, and changes in the environment, teamwork, and competitiveness. The insight, gained by considering OL as a process, is not routine It allows one to create, acquire, and transfer knowledge. This will always be limited to the internal capabilities developed during the course of the timeline and will identify skills and competencies generated in accordance with the requirements presented by different environments. OL is associated with both the change in organizational behaviors and the creation of a knowledge base.

Multiple myeloma(MM)is a hematological malignancy characterized by the accumulation of immunoglobulin-secreting clonal plasma cells at the bone marrow(BM).The interaction between MM cells and the BM microenvironment,and specifically BM mesenchymal stem cells(BM-MSCs),has a key role in the pathophysiology of this *** data support the idea that BM-MSCs not only enhance the proliferation and survival of MM cells but are also involved in the resistance of MM cells to certain drugs,aiding the progression of this hematological *** relation of MM cells with the resident BM-MSCs is a two-way *** modulate the behavior of BM-MSCs altering their expression profile,proliferation rate,osteogenic potential,and expression of senescence *** turn,modified BM-MSCs can produce a set of cytokines that would modulate the BM microenvironment to favor disease *** interaction between MM cells and BM-MSCs can be mediated by the secretion of a variety of soluble factors and extracellular vesicles carrying microRNAs,long non-coding RNAs or other ***,the communication between these two types of cells could also involve a direct physical interaction through adhesion molecules or tunneling ***,understanding the way this communication works and developing strategies to interfere in the process,would preclude the expansion of the MM cells and might offer alternative treatments for this incurable disease.

Recent paleobotanical investigations in Vietnam provide a good opportunity to improve our understanding of the biodiversity and paleoclimatic conditions in the geological past of Southeast ***(Arecaceae)are a diverse family of typical thermophilous plants with a relatively low tolerance for *** this study,we describe well-preserved fossil palm leaves from the Oligocene Dong Ho Formation of Hoanh Bo Basin,northern *** of the fossil leaves,such as a fan-shaped costapalmate lamina,an unarmed petiole,a costa slightly enlarged at the base that then tapers distally into the blade,and well-preserved amphistomatic leaves with cuticles,suggest that they represent a new fossil species,which we herein designate Sabalites colaniae ***,***,*** et *** *** with other paleontological and palaeoclimatic evidence,we conclude that a warm climate prevailed in northern Vietnam and nearby areas during the Oligocene.

The Gulf of Cadiz is situated geologically at the Gibraltar Arc, the westernmost arc of the Alpine- Himalayan orogenic belt. Based on extensive previous studies that include swath bathymetry, multi-channel and very high-resolution seismic reflection, gravime- try, magnetism, heat flow probes, and underwater photography surveys, more than 500 polymetallic nodules were collected at water depths ranging from 850 to 1000 m, associated with hydrocarbon-derived carbonate chimneys, slabs, and crusts. Nodules show a wide range of sizes, densities, weights and mor- phologies. Nodules are composed of multiple milli- metre-thick layers of Fe and Mn oxyhydroxides sur- rounding a nucleus composed of Early-Middle Mio- cene plastic marls, which were expulsed from underly- ing units by fluid venting. Nodules show a high mean abundance of Fe （39.03%）, moderate Mn （5.84%）,

Hardness-Lattice Parameter Correlation for Aged Al-Zn-Mg Alloys

Two ternary Al-2.2Zn-0.95Mg and ***-2.1Mg （in wt pct） alloys, with Zn：Mg ratios close to 2.5 were produced by conventional ingot casting metallurgy. The ingots were solution heat treated at 500℃ for 0.5 h and aged at 180℃ for times between 0.5 and 80 h. The structural characterization was carried out by X-ray diffraction （XRD）, transmission electron microscopy （TEM）, selected area electron diffraction （SAED） and Vickers mierohardness measurements （HV）. The study was focused on the investigation of the precipitates formation and the relationship between hardness and lattice parameter for α-Al. The results showed that there was an inverse correlation for all the experimental conditions, and the aged peaks coincided with lattice parameter minima. Significant precipitates formation only occurred for the alloy containing 5.5 wt pct Zn and 2.1 wt pct Mg, provoking an important strengthening and variations in the lattice parameter, however, this was not observed for the alloy containing 2.2 wt pct Zn and 0.95 wt pct Mg. A plausible explanation of the increment of hardness values could be the presence of a well distributed η phase （MgZn2）. At initial stages of the precipitation process, η′ was the most abundant precipitate while the phase τ- was observed at overaged conditions. These results showed that the aging response of the conventionally cast Al-Zn-Mg alloys could be obtained using the lattice parameter of the α-Al matrix, even for alloy systems with low precipitates formation.
