Proprioception is significantly impaired in knee osteoarthritis(KOA),contributing to reduced *** training(ST)is essential in KOA by improving muscle strength,although it may also be effective in improving *** purpose was to determine the effect of ST on knee proprioception in KOA ***,CINAHL,Scopus,WOS,and PEDro were searched for randomized controlled trials(RCTs)(inception to March 2023).comparisons for ST were physical exercise different from ST,non-exercise-based interventions,and no *** quality was assessed using the PEDro scale,and risk of bias(RoB)using the cochrane ***-analyses were performed by comparison groups using the standardized mean difference(SMD)(Hedge's g)with random effects models,also considering subgroups by proprioception ***,six RCTs were *** mean PEDro score was 6.3,and the highest proportion of biases corresponds to per-formance,selection,and *** meta-analysis indicated that only when compared with non-intervention,ST significantly improved knee proprioception for the joint position sense(JPS)(activeþpassive),JPS(passive),and threshold to detect passive motion(TTDPM)subgroups(g=-1.33[-2.33,-0.32],g=-2.29[-2.82,-1.75]and g=-2.40[-4.23,-0.58],respectively).However,in the knee JPS(active)subgroup,ST was not significant(g=-0.72[-1.84,0.40]).In conclusion,ST improves knee proprioception compared to ***,due to the paucity of studies and diversity of interventions,more evidence is needed to support the effectiveness of *** RCTs may address the limitations of this review to advance knowledge about pro-prioceptive responses to ST and contribute to clinical practice.

An elastic gridshell is an efficient constructive typology for crossing large spans with little material.A flat elastic grid is built before buckling the structure into shape,in active and post-formed *** design and structural analysis of such a structure requires a stage of form finding that can mainly be done:(1)With a physical model:either by a suspended net method,or an active bending model;(2)With a numerical model performed by dynamic *** these solutions have various biases and assumptions that make them reflect more or less the *** three methods have been applied by Happold and Liddell[1]during the design of the Frei Otto’s Mannheim Gridshell which has allowed us to compare the results,and to highlight the significant differences between digital and physical *** on our own algorithm called ELASTICA[2],our study focuses on:(1)comparing the results of the ELASTICA’s numerical models to load tests on physical models;(2)The identification of the various factors that can influence the results and explain the observed differences,some of which are then studied;(3)Applying the results to build a full-scale interlaced lattice elastic gridshell based on the Japanese Kagome pattern.

Experience with Porcine Acellular Dermal collagen Mesh (Permacol™Surgical Implant) in Chest Wall Reconstruction after Resection for Rib Osteomyelitis

Chest wall reconstruction after rib resection is essential to ensuring chest wall stability, avoiding flail chest and pulmonary hernia, and improving pulmonary function. Traditionally, a synthetic mesh and a musculocutaneous flap have been used to bridge the chest wall defect. However, a risk of secondary prosthesis infection exists. Acellular dermal collagen mesh implants (Permacol™) are indicated for the reconstruction and reformation of human soft connective tissue. A case of a complex chest wall reconstruction after rib resection for osteomyelitis due to staphylococcus aureus infection in a malnourished, immunosuppressed, and methadone-addicted patient is presented. The patient underwent a left posterolateral thoracotomy and chest wall resection, involving three ribs and the soft tissues overlying an infected cutaneous fistula. The chest wall was reconstructed using a 28 × 18 cm piece of porcine sterile acellular dermal collagen mesh. A successful chest wall repair was achieved with no incisional herniation and with complete mesh incorporation, allowing physiologic respiratory movements. A typical wound seroma developed and resorbed over the following months. There was no infection. In conclusion, this case report suggests that Permacol™surgical implant can be used successfully as an alternative to synthetic mesh in reconstruction of an infected chest wall.

Analgesic Efficacy of Intrathecal Bupivacaine with or without Morphine in Lower Limb Orthopedic Surgery. A comparative Study

Background: Lower limb orthopaedic surgeries are commonly associated with moderate to severe postoperative pain. Adequate pain relief is essential for patients undergoing such procedures, as uncontrolled pain can lead to delayed recovery, prolonged hospitalization, and increased morbidity. Intrathecal administration of bupivacaine, a long-acting local anesthetic, has been shown to provide effective analgesia after lower limb orthopaedic surgery. However, the duration of analgesia with bupivacaine alone is limited, and the addition of an opioid, such as morphine, can prolong the duration of analgesia. Objective: The objective of this study was to document the comparative effect of adding morphine to intrathecal bupivacaine or only intrathecal bupivacaine for lower limb trauma orthopedic surgeries in terms of onset of action, duration of analgesia, pain severity, and side effects. Methods: This was a comparative longitudinal study design conducted at the Orthopaedic Unit of the Tamale Teaching Hospital. A simple random sampling technique was used to recruit 60 patients. A standard structured questionnaire was also used to collect data on the socio-demographics, and clinical features of patients, drug used,side effects and severity of pain at 24,48 and 72 hrs after surgery. Results: co-administration of intrathecal bupivacaine with morphine produced good and long-lasting postoperative analgesia with a mean time of 1004.25 ± 310.43 minutes, whiles using only bupivacaine produced shorter postoperative analgesia with a mean time of 294.75 ± 195.53 minutes. The p-value p values of p = 0.635 and p = 0.689 respectively. conclusion: The study revealed that co-administration of intrathecal bupivacaine with morphine emerged as a better option for postoperative pain management after lower limb orthopedic surgeries as compared to administering only bupivacaine regarding the duration of analgesia. In this work we study one problem of mathematical interest for their applications in several topics in Applied Science. We study simultaneous controllability of a pair of systems which model the evolution of sound in a compressible flow considered as a transmission problem. We show the well posed of the problem. Furthermore provided appropriate conditions in the geometry of the domain are valid and suitable assumptions on the fluid, is possible to conduce the pair of systems to the equilibrium in a simultaneous way using only one control.

3-D Reconstruction and Visualization of Laser-Scanned Trees by Weighted Locally Optimal Projection and Accurate Modeling Method

This paper presents a method to reconstruct 3-D models of trees from terrestrial laser scan(TLS)point *** method uses the weighted locally optimal projection(WLOP)and the AdTree method to reconstruct detailed 3-D tree *** improve its representation accuracy,the WLOP algorithm is introduced to consolidate the point *** reconstruction accuracy is tested using a dataset of ten trees,and the one-sided Hausdorff distances between the input point clouds and the resulting 3-D models are *** experimental results show that the optimal projection modeling method has an average one-sided Hausdorff distance(mean)lower by 30.74%and 6.43%compared with AdTree and AdQSM methods,***,it has an average one-sided Hausdorff distance(RMS)lower by 29.95%and 12.28%compared with AdTree and AdQSM *** show that the 3-D model generated fits closely to the input point cloud data and ensures a high geometrical accuracy.

Water resource contamination is still a major concern in several regions of developing countries espe-cially in sub-Saharan countries in which polluted waters pose serious risks to human health and the *** seasonal variation of the physicochemical parameters including pH,temperature(T),electrical conductivity(EC),dissolved oxygen(O_(2)),dissolved organic carbon(DOC),total organic carbon(TOC),and trace metals were assessed in water samples collected from wells(n=3)and two rivers which were the River Lukemi(RLK,n=3)and River Luini(RLN,n=2)located in the City of Kikwit(Province of Kwilu,Democratic Republic of the congo).Samples were collected during the dry and wet *** concentration of trace metals(Cr,Mn,co,Ni,Cu,Zn,As,Mo,Ag,Cd,Sn,Sb,and Pb)in water was measured using Inductively coupled Plasma Mass Spectrometry(ICP-MS),and soluble ions(Na^(+),K^(+),NH_(4)^(+),SO_(4)^(-),NO_(3),and Cl^(-))analysis was performed using lon *** results indicate the seasonal difference in the physicochemical composition of water e.g.,the pH was lower in the wet compared to the dry *** values during the wet season ranged from 4.12 to 5.60 in wells and from 5.55 to 6.31 in rivers while the dry season values ranged from 6.27 to 6.98 in wells and from 7.09 to 7.44 in *** concentrations of soluble ions and other physicochemical par ameters(O_(2),DOC and TOC)also varied with the seasons,being higher in the wet and lower in the dry *** the exception of Mn,the average concentrations of other trace metals measured in water samples from wells and rivers met the World Health Organization(WHO)guidelines for drinki ng/domestic water *** concentration in water samples analysed ranged between 634 to 812 and 1352-1741μgL^(-1) during the dry and wet seasons,*** results imply that the high concentration of Mn in the water samples may be explained by the geological origin and result of natural weathering *** general,accord

In line with recent studies,where it has been shown that nanoﬂuids containing graphene have a stronger capacity to boost the heat transfer coefﬁcient with respect to ordinary nanoﬂuids,experiments have been conducted using water with cobalt ferrite/graphene *** particular,a circular channel made of copper subjected to a constant heatﬂux has been *** nanoparticles are sensitive to the presence of a magneticﬁeld,different conditions have been examined,allowing both the strength and the frequency of such aﬁeld to span relatively wide ranges and assuming different concentrations of *** to theﬁndings,the addition of nanoparticles to theﬂuid causes its rotation speed to increase by a factor of two,whereas ultraviolet radiation plays a negligible *** amount of time required to attain the maximum rotation speed of the nanoﬂuid and the Nusselt number have been measured under both constant and alternating magneticﬁelds for a ferroﬂuid with a concentration of 0.5%and atﬂow Reynolds number of 550 and 1750.
