Mouse B1 B cells originate in the embryonic liver and are the major B-cell population in the peritoneal and pleural cavities.1–5 By contrast,mouse B2 B cells originate in the bone marrow.and are the major B-cell population in the bone marrow.spleen,and blood.B1 and B2 B cells differ not only in their origin and locations,but also in their antigen specificity,cell surface markers,capacities for class-sw.tch recombination(CSR)and somatic hypermutation(SHM).IgH cis-regulatory regions and,particularly,transcriptional super-enhancers are major locus regulators under both normal and pathological conditions.6,7 Important differences have been found regarding the ability of the IgH 3′regulatory region(3′RR)super-enhancer to control the B1 and B2 B-cell fate.

In secondary lymphoid organs,mature B cells express membrane immunoglobulin(Ig)of M and D isotypes(IgM and IgD,respectively)of the same specificity through alternative splicing of a pre-mRNA encompassing the VDJ variable region and Cμand Cδheavy chain constant exons.1 After encountering antigen,B cells undergo class sw.tch recombination(CSR)by w.ich the Cμgene is substituted w.th Cγ,Cεor Cα,thereby generating IgG,IgE and IgA antibodies of the same antigenic specificity but w.th new.effector *** requires the DNA-editing enzyme activation-induced deaminase(AID).

A comparison of fish tissue mercury concentrations from homogenized fillet and nonlethal biopsy plugs

The use of biopsy plugs to sample fish muscle tissue for mercury analyses is a viable alternative to lethal sampling; how.ver, the practice has yet to be w.dely implemented in routine monitoring due to concerns about variability of mercury concentrations in fish muscle tissues. Here w. examine distribution of mercury in fillets of four fish species(w.lleye, Northern Pike, Smallmouth Bass and Lake Trout), suitability of left/right side of fillet for biopsy sampling, and appropriateness of re-using a biopsy punch. The results show.d that average mercury concentrations in left and right fillets of fish are *** concentrations in biopsy plug samples, taken from the anterior dorsal area of the fish fillet, w.re statistically equivalent to the mercury concentrations in homogenized fillets. There w.s no discernible cross contamination betw.en samples w.en a biopsy punch w.s reused after w.shing in hot soapy w.ter, and as such, biopsy punches can be recycled during sampling to reduce the sampling cost. If a tissue mass collected from a specific site on the fillet is insufficient, then w. suggest sampling corresponding locations on the other fillet rather than sampling tw. adjacent sites on one fillet to obtain more tissue. The results presented here can improve the accuracy of fillet biopsy plug sampling,minimize fish mortality for mercury monitoring, and reduce labor and material costs in monitoring programs.

The average values of the seasonal flesh biochemical composition(%)of the pearl oyster Pinctada imbricata radiata originated form 2 sampling sites,the gulfs of Evoikos(E)and Saronikos(S)in the w.stern Aegean Sea,show.d that is rich in proteins(64.00±1.86-(E),64.67±2.95-(S))w.th low.fat content(10.96±1.04-(E),11.86±1.13-(S))and carbohydrates(13.29±2.48-(E),9.94±4.32(S)).The condition index ranged from 26.16%±5.04 in the autumn in(E),to 44.73%±7.50 in the summer in(S).The meat yield varied from 20.49%±3.20%in the summer in(E)to 30.73%±3.47%in the summer in(S).Both results demonstrate the high nutritional profile of the pearl oyster,supporting its suitability as a potential new.Mediterranean seafood source for human consumption.

The bone marrow.derived B2 population represents the vast majority of bone marrow.blood,lymph node and splenic *** B1 B-cells mostly originate during embryonic life in the liver and represent the main B-cell population in the pleural and peritoneal cavities.1,2,3,4,5 B1 and B2 B-cells differ in their origin,antigen specificity,cell surface markers,tissue distribution and capacity for class sw.tch recombination(CSR).Schematically,B1 B-cells appear earlier than B2 B-cells during fetal development and maintain their self-renew.l ability throughout their life.
