BACKGROUND Differential diagnosis between extranodal marginal zone lymphoma of mucosaassociated lymphoid tissue and inflammatory bowel disease is mainly based on histopathologic evaluation of intestinal biopsies,although there is no single definitive diagnostic investigation and that circumstance can lead to misdiagnosis in particular *** we present a rare,ulcerative form of marginal zone lymphoma which mimics the Crohn’s disease(CD)of upper digestive *** SUMMARY A 50-year-old man was presented with recurrent episodes of malaise and melena also weight *** of the small bowel demonstrated an ulcer in the ***,biopsies showed lymphoplasmacytic *** of CD was *** treatment consisted of prednisone and azathioprine and was followed by azathioprine 100 mg per day with good clinical response in the following 2 years until *** this time the results of endoscopic biopsies derived from proximal wall of stomach revealed Helicobacter pylori-negative marginal zone lymphoma of the gastric *** confirmed atypical CD20-positive cell *** on these biopsies,marginal zone lymphoma of mucosa-associated lymphoid tissue was ***,the contact with the patient was lost until one year later he was hospitalized with nausea,vomiting and severe pain because of gastrointestinal *** months later after laparotomy,the patient was treated with a course of *** remission was observed following 6 cycles of *** This case report highlights the clinical relevance of knowledge and awareness of marginal zone lymphoma simulating CD.

Conservation agriculture practices are a crucial factor in mitigating and controlling erosion by *** address water erosion estimates,most environmental models use the USLE,RUSLE,and MUSLE *** practices that affect soil erosion by modifying the flow pattern,such as contour farming,strip farming,or terracing,are represented within these models as a support practice(P)***,due to the difficulty in accurately mapping the P-factor,many studies choose to ignore it,using only the default value P-factor 1 which represents the absence of sowing at the level or cultivation in *** study proposes a methodology that evaluates the current P-factor based on the angle between the crop row orientation and the elevation contour *** method was tested in four areas under soybean crop fields in southern Brazil,totaling 25 km^(2).The reason for choosing four areas is to select different characteristics of rural properties and topographic *** ideal values of the P-factor are expected to be between 0.5 and 0.6;however,in our case,a P-factor greater than 0.8 was obtained in 60%of the area,indicating the low occurrence of contour farming reduces erosion *** results show that policymakers could potentially use this methodology(angle between the crop rows and contour lines)to run soil-erosion risk scenarios for a broader application of contour *** allows the P-factor to be quantified via a thematic map instead of assigning uniform P-factor *** a detailed study of the P-factor on the slopes,there is a better understanding of where to target support practices to reduce erosion.

Life expectancy of patients with colorectal liver metastasis(CRLM)significantly improved over the last decades due to the induction of multimodal effective treatment strategies including perioperative chemotherapy and advanced surgical *** conversion chemotherapy,previously unresectable CRLMs can be converted to a resectable situation and amenable to procedures such as associating liver partition and portal vein ligation(ALPPS)(1).A recent publication in HBSN has extensively reviewed ALPPS as a concept in the treatment of *** review article by Glinka et al.(2)focuses on the evolvement of this novel procedure and describes in detail the gradual changes accompanying this procedure’s evolvement since ***,the authors highlight several aspects crucial for the best possible outcome after this procedure including patient selection,future liver remnant,technical aspects,safety,morbidity,mortality and oncological results.

We comment on a study titled“Feasibility and safety of"bridging"pancreaticogastrostomy for pancreatic trauma in Landrace pigs”in which ten pigs were randomized to either experimental“bridging”pancreaticogastrostomy(PG)or a control group with a routine mucosa-to-mucosa *** six months anastomoses had strictured and closed in both *** authors concluded that“bridging”PG is feasible and safe in damage control surgery during the early stage of pancreatic *** this letter we comment on the study design,specifically leaving a 2 cm gap between the pancreatic stump and the stomach and highlight the complexity of performing pancreatic anastomoses following trauma pancreaticoduodenectomy as to our experience in a high volume trauma *** data emphasize that pancreatic anastomoses in trauma are complex procedures with significant postoperative morbidity and are best managed collaboratively by trauma and hepatopancreaticobiliary surgical teams with the required technical skills.

Abiotic stresses such as heat and frost limit plant growth and ***-based field phenotyping methods allow quantifying not only plant growth but also plant *** crops show senescence caused by cold spells,visible as declines in leaf *** accurately quantified such declines by monitoring changes in canopy cover based on time-resolved high-resolution imagery in the ***-six winter wheat genotypes were measured in multiple years.A concept termed"frost damage index"(FDI)was developed that,in analogy to growing degree days,summarizes frost events in a cumulative *** measured sensitivity of genotypes to the FDI correlated with visual scorings commonly used in breeding to assess winter *** FDI concept could be adapted to other factors such as drought or heat *** commonly not considered in plant growth modeling,integrating such degradation processes may be key to improving the prediction of plant performance for future climate scenarios.

Non-dimensional similarity groups and analytically solvable proximity equations can be used to estimate integral fluid film parameters of elastohydrodynamically lubricated(EHL)*** this contribution,we demonstrate that machine learning(ML)and artificial intelligence(AI)approaches(support vector machines,Gaussian process regressions,and artificial neural networks)can predict relevant film parameters more efficiently and with higher accuracy and flexibility compared to sophisticated EHL simulations and analytically solvable proximity equations,*** this purpose,we use data from EHL simulations based upon the full-system finite element(FE)solution and a Latin hypercube *** verify that the original input data are required to train ML approaches to achieve coefficients of determination above *** is revealed that the architecture of artificial neural networks(neurons per layer and number of hidden layers)and activation functions influence the prediction *** impact of the number of training data is exemplified,and recommendations for a minimum database size are *** ultimately demonstrate that artificial neural networks can predict the locally-resolved film thickness values over the contact domain 25-times faster than FE-based EHL simulations(R^(2) values above 0.999).We assume that this will boost the use of ML approaches to predict EHL parameters and traction losses in multibody system dynamics simulations.

The extent of male mate choosiness is driven by a trade-off between various environmental factors associated with the costs of mate acquisition,quality assessment and opportunity *** knowledge about natural variation in male mate choosiness across different populations of the same species,however,remains *** this study,we compared male mate choosiness across 10 natural populations of the freshwater amphipod Gammarus roeselii(Gervais 1835),a species with overall high male mating investments,and evaluated the relative influence of population density and sex ratio(both affecting mate availability)on male mate *** investigated amplexus establishment after separating mating pairs and presenting focal males with a novel,size-matched female from the same *** analysis revealed considerable effects of sex ratio and(to a lesser extent)population density on time until amplexus establishment(choosiness).Male amphipods are able to perceive variable social conditions(e.g.,sex ratio)and modify their mating strategy accordingly:We found choosiness to be reduced in increasingly male-biased populations,whereas selectivity increases when sex ratio becomes female *** this,our study expands our limited knowledge on natural variations in male mate choosiness and illustrates the importance of sex ratio(i.e.,level of competition)for male mating decisions in natural *** for variation in sex ratios,therefore,allows envisioning a distinctive variation of choosiness in natural populations and highlights the importance of considering social background information in future behavioral studies.

Introduction: Sickle cell anaemia is a hereditary disease that combines physical and psychological manifestations, including suicidal tendencies. So far, to our knowledge, no study has been conducted on suicidal behaviours among people with sickle cell disease in Cameroon. This is what justifies our study on the prevalence and factors related to suicidal behaviors in our study population. Methods: We conducted a cross-sectional, analytical study of 171 sickle cell patients aged from 12 years upwards who came to the sickle cell disease care service of the Laquintinie Hospital in Douala, over a period of 6 months, that is, from 1 January to 31 June 2022. Data were collected using a structured questionnaire with questions on suicidal behaviours based on the “MINI” (Mini International Neuropsychiatric Interview). The data were processed using the SPSS 26.0 software. The related factors were studied in both a bivariate and multivariate analysis. Results: Female sickle cell patients accounted for 60.2% of the sample. The mean age was 23.36 ± 8.42 years. Suicidal ideation was prevalent in 56% of cases and 13% attempted suicide. The factors most associated with suicidal ideation were: primary level of education (OR = 0.08 (0.09 - 0.79);p = 0.03), feeling unworthy of life (OR = 0.40 (0.08 - 1.96);p = 0.02), not often being considered by those around them (OR = 2.97 (1.26 - 6.99);p = 0.01), lack of family support (OR = 0.34 (0.15 - 0.77);p = 0.01). Meanwhile, the factors associated with suicide attempts were: the fact of being rarely exposed to suicide-related media (OR = 4.17 (1.40 - 71.80);p = 0.03), and a constant feeling of sadness when returning home (OR = 18.02 (1.59 - 20.55);p = 0.01). Conclusion: More than half of sickle cell patients had had suicidal thoughts and 1/6 had made at least one suicide attempt, women and young adults being the most concerned. It is therefore necessary to ensure optimum psychological care for patients with sickle cell disease.
