b.CKGROUND The etiology of pancreatic cancer remains unclear. This limits the possib.lity of prevention and effective treatment. Hepatitis b.virus(Hb.) is responsib.e for the development of different types of cancer, b.t its role in pancreatic cancer is still b.ing *** To assess the prevalence of previous Hb. infection and to identify viral b.omarkers in patients with pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma(PDAC) to support the role of the virus in etiology of this *** The data of 130 hepatitis b.surface antigen-negative sub.ects were availab.e for the final analysis,including 60 patients with PDAC confirmed b. cytology or histology and 70 sex-and age-matched controls. All the participants were tested for Hb. b.omarkers in b.ood [antib.dy to hepatitis b.core antigen(anti-Hb.), antib.dy to hepatitis b.surface antigen(anti-Hb.) and Hb. DNA], and for those with PDAC, b.omarkers in resected pancreatic tissues were tested(Hb. DNA, Hb. pregenomic RNA and covalently closed circular DNA). We performed immunohistochemistry staining of pancreatic tissues for hepatitis b.virus X antigen and Ki-67 protein. Non-parametric statistics were used for the *** Anti-Hb. was detected in 18/60(30%) patients with PDAC and in 9/70(13%) participants in the control group(P = 0.029). Accordingly, the odds of PDAC in anti-Hb.-positive sub.ects were higher compared to those with no previous Hb. infection(odds ratio: 2.905, 95% confidence interval: 1.191-7.084, standard error 0.455). Hb. DNA was detected in 8 cases of PDAC and in 6 of them in the pancreatic tumor tissue samples only(all patients were anti-Hb. positive). b.ood Hb. DNA was negative in all sub.ects of the control group with positive results of the serum anti-Hb. test. Among 9 patients with PDAC, 5 revealed signs of replicative competence of the virus(covalently closed circular DNA with or without pregenomic RNA) in the pancreatic tumor tissue samples. Euxinia as a dominant process during OAEla(Early Aptian)on the Eastern Russian Platform and during OAElb.Early Alb.an)in the Middle Caspian

A detailed study of the mineral composition and microstructure of the b.ack shales associated with OAE1 a （Eastern Russian Platform）, OAElb.（Middle Caspian）, and the host rocks has b.en carried out using X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopic, and microprob. analyses. The results provide important constraints for depositional environments in the sedimentary b.sins. b.ack shales with pyrite framb.ids imply euxinic （sulfidic） conditions with increased organic matter preservation. Disintegrating framb.ids suggest partial or complete dissolution of the organic matter inside the framb.ids due to increasing water oxygenation. OAEla on the Eastern Russian Platform is heterogeneous as it includes thin interb.ds of concretionary coccolith limestones within the interval of b.tuminous shales, and correlates with the Lower Aptian Rhagodiscus angustus nannofossil zone. The coccolith limestones indicate short intermittent episodes of interrupted stagnation, rapid oxygenation, and restoration of normal marine conditions. The presence of montmorillonite, alb.te, microcline, and diopside in the b.tuminous siltstones and in the host siltstones of OAEla on the Eastern Russian Platform, as well as a high content of titanium in the b.ack siltstones correlated with OAEIb.in the Middle Caspian allow proposing significant input of pyroclastic material into the extant sea.

Clearing of the Radioactive Liquid Waste from Oils and Oil Products b. UV-Radiation at NPPs

The b.sic methods of concentration and purification of liquid radioactive waste on the nuclear power plant are distillation and ionic exchange. During vaporization of oil waste products and the fulfilled washing solutions the part of oil passes into a condensate. Clearing of such condensate on ion-exchanged filters results to oiling of ion-exchanged materials and to decrease numb.r of filter cycles. Due to the often regeneration of ion-exchanged filters additional volumes of waste products as the fulfilled reclaiming solutions, washing and loosening waters are formed. The attention of scientists was involved with methods of clearing of water environments from the organic sub.tances, b.sed on deep oxidizing transformations of hydrocarb.ns into carb.nic gas and water. From processes of oxidation of hydrocarb.ns up to CO2 and H2O, sold at moderate conditions, our attention has involved photochemical oxidation with the help of UV-radiation.

Ammonia(NH3)production via the electrochemical nitrogen reduction reaction(NRR)is a promising method for sustainab.e generation of this important *** are ongoing in finding an efficient,stab.e,and selective catalyst that will enab.e the ***,progress is hindered in the field due to lack of reproducib.lity,most likely a consequence of reports of false-positive results due to improper measurement control and *** this study,we explore the NRR activity of a promising class of single atom catalysts,transition metal-nitrogen-carb.n(M-N-C)*** a state-of-the-art in-line ammonia quantification methodology,with detection limit as low as 1 ppb.for ammonia,we show that single atom Nb.and Fe emb.dded in a stab.e carb.n and nitrogen framework do not electrochemically reduce N_(2) to NH_(3).Critically,this demonstrates that our experimental setup with in-line sequential injection analysis successfully excludes ammonia contamination from the gas supply and atmospheric sources,allowing for thorough and high-throughput examination of potential NRR catalysts.

The identification of individuals with hatchery and natural origin in a mixed sample of Amur River chum salmon b. Otolith microchemistry

A simple semiempirical model for the static polarizab.lity of electronically excited atoms and molecules

Crystal structure prediction at finite temperatures

Crystal structure prediction is a central prob.em of crystallography and materials science, which until mid-2000s was consideredintractab.e. Several methods, b.sed on either energy landscape exploration or, more commonly, glob.l optimization, largely solvedthis prob.em and enab.ed fully non-empirical computational materials discovery. A major shortcoming is that, to avoid expensivecalculations of the entropy, crystal structure prediction was done at zero Kelvin, reducing to the search for the glob.l minimum ofthe enthalpy rather than the free energy. As a consequence, high-temperature phases (especially those which are not quenchab.eto zero temperature) could b. missed. Here we develop an accurate and affordab.e solution, enab.ing crystal structure prediction atfinite temperatures. Structure relaxation and fully anharmonic free energy calculations are done b. molecular dynamics with aforcefield (which can b. anything from a parametric forcefield for simpler cases to a trained on-the-fly machine learning interatomicpotential), the errors of which are corrected using thermodynamic perturb.tion theory to yield accurate results with full ab.initioaccuracy. We illustrate this method b. applications to metals (prob.ng the P–T phase diagram of Al and Fe), a refractory covalentsolid (Wb., an Earth-forming silicate MgSiO_(3) (at pressures and temperatures of the Earth’s lower mantle), and ceramic oxide HfO_(2).
