Although photonics presents the fastest and most energy-efficient method of data transfer,magnetism still offers the cheapest and most natural way to store *** ultrafast and energy-efficient optical control of magnetism is presently a missing technological link that prevents us from reaching the next evolution in information *** discovery of all-optical magnetization reversal in GdFeCo with the help of 100fs laser pulses has further aroused intense interest in this compelling *** the applicability of this approach to high-speed data processing depends vitally on the maximum repetition rate of the switching,the latter remains virtually *** we experimentally unveil the ultimate frequency of repetitive all-optical magnetization reversal through time-resolved studies of the dual-shot magnetization dynamics in Gd27 Fe63.87 *** the intensities of the shots and the shotto-shot separation,we reveal the conditions for ultrafast writing and the fastest possible restoration of magnetic *** is shown that although magnetic writing launched by the first shot is completed after 100 ps,a reliable rewriting of the bit by the second shot requires separating the shots by at least 300 *** two shots partially overlapping in space and minimally separated by 300 ps,we demonstrate an approach for GHz magnetic writing that can be scaled down to sizes below the diffraction limit.

Mucopolysaccharidosis type II （MPS II） is a rare X-linked disorder caused by alterations in the iduronate-2-sulfatase （IDS） gene. In this study, IDS activity in peripheral mononuclear blood monocytes （PMBCs） was measured with a fluorimetric enzyme assay. Urinary glycosaminoglycans （GAGs） were quantified using a colorimetric assay. All IDS exons and intronic flanks were bidirectionally sequenced. A total of 15 mutations （all exonic region） were found in 17 MPS II patients. In this cohort of MPS II patients, all alterations in the IDS gene were caused by point nucleotide substitutions or small deletions. Mutations ***88His and ***172＊ occurred twice. All mu- tations were inherited except for ***489Alafs＊7, a germline mutation. We found four new mutations （***142Phe, ***233Gly, ***430＊, and ***360Tyrfs＊31）. In Epstein-Barr virus （EBv）-immortalized PMBCs derived from the MPS II patients, no IDS protein was detected in case of the ***142Phe and ***360Tyrfs＊31 mutants. For ***233Gly and ***430＊, we observed a residual expression of IDS. The ***233Gly and ***430＊ mutants had a residuary enzymatic activity that was lowered by 14.3 and 76-fold, respectively, compared with healthy controls. This observation may help explain the mild disease phenotype in MPS II patients who had these two mutations whereas the ***142Phe and ***360Tyrfs＊31 mutations caused the severe disease manifestation.

An efficient approach has been developed for the synthesis of 5,5＇-diaryl-2,2＇-bipyridines via their 1,2,4-triazine *** notable advantages of the present method are：The possibility of varying the aromatic substituents in the positions 5 and 5＇ of bipyridine core and the possibility for obtaining 2,2＇-bipyridines bearing a fused cyclopentene core to increase the solubility in organic *** 5,5＇-diaryl-2,2＇-bipyridines exhibited an intense emission in a range of ca.422-521 nm in acetonitrile solution;depending on the nature of the aromatic substituents and the presence of annulated cyclopentene *** from that,the significant bathochromic shifts of the both absorption and emission maxima were observed in comparison with a number of previously described similar *** some cases the significant increasing of the fluorescence quantum yields took place.

Study of high-speed interaction processes between fluoropolymer projectiles and aluminum-based targets

The experimental results and numerical modeling of penetration process of fluoropolymer projectiles in aluminum-based targets are presented. Analysis of mathematical models for interaction of elastoplastic projectile and target without taking additional energy released during interaction of fluoropolymer and aluminum into consideration is carried out. Energy fraction which is spent effectively on the increase in cavity volume is determined. The experimental and calculated results of penetration by combined and inert projectiles are compared.

To better understand the spatial structure of Amur tigers(Panthera tigris altaica)at the southern edge of their range we fitted 14 tigers(6♀♀and 8♂♂)with 15 GPS-Argos collars between 2008 and 2011 in 2 study sites:the Ussuriskii Reserve of southern Sikhote-Alin and the Land of the Leopard National Park in southwest Primorye,Russian Far *** kernel estimates of male home ranges were larger than those of female home ranges(Pvaried greatly,but on average was similar to estimates derived from earlier work further *** overlap of adjacent home ranges suggested that females retained exclusive *** core areas of females overlapped only slightly,and remained stable over multiple *** home ranges of adult males were smaller than those of males to the north,and in contrast to previous studies,high overlap among males indicated the absence of ***,real core areas of males did not overlap,suggesting some spatial *** comparison to other tiger populations and other areas of the Russian Far East,the sex ratio in our 2 study areas was highly skewed towards *** believe this skewed sex ratio resulted in the dissolution of territoriality of males due to an inability to defend individual females,with males resorting to scramble competition for *** monitoring of these sites to determine whether shifts in the sex ratio might result in a return to male territoriality would provide confirmation of our tentative hypothesis.

The article deals the structure of the CaO -Al2O3 - TiO2 -SiO2 system as a basis for obtaining advanced ce- ramics with a complex of high-operational characteris- tics. As a result o[＇investigations the phase charctcteristics are represented trod the graph of the relationship of the elementaory tetrahedra has been plotted. The most techno- logical system area ,for the production of heat resistant advanced ceramics has been determined. The batches for producing heat and chemical resistant dense advanced ceramics made of natural, technical and technogenic raw materials have been developed.

We build a model of storage of well-defined positional information in probabilistic sequence patterns. Once a pattern is defined, it is possible to judge the effect of any mutation in it. We show that the frequency of beneficial mutations can be high in general and the same mutation can be either advantageous or deleterious depending on the pattern’s context. The model allows to treat positional information as a physical quantity, formulate its conservation law and to model its continuous evolution in a whole genome, with meaningful applications of basic physical principles such as optimal efficiency and channel capacity. A plausible example of optimal solution analytically describes phase transitions-like behavior. The model shows that, in principle, it is possible to store error-free information on sequences with arbitrary low conservation. The described theoretical framework allows one to approach from novel general perspectives such long-standing paradoxes as excessive junk DNA in large genomes or the corresponding G- and C-values paradoxes. We also expect it to have an effect on a number of fundamental concepts in population genetics including the neutral theory, cost-of-selection dilemma, error catastrophe and others.

Transparent and Biocompatible Electrodes Based on Carbon Nanotubes/Albumin Composite

We describe a new method for transparent and conductive films based on carbon nanotubes and bovine serum albumin composite development. Films are deposited from an aqueous solution of carbon nanotubes/bovine serum albumin by drop-coating and rod-coating methods. Sheet resistances of as-prepared films vary from 200 Ohm/sq with 50% transmittance to 30 KOhm/sq with 90% transmittance. The maximum sdc/sop ration found in this work is 2.27, which gives a DC conductivity of 4.55 × 104 S·m-1. Atomic force microscopy and Raman spectroscopy studies of the films show that the process of film formation produces neither structural nor chemical changes in the nanotubes. Possibility of using these films for cell culturing is tested on human embryonic fibroblast cell line. Therefore, it is first time ever in literature, when proposed a method, allowing fabricating at the same time transparent, high-conductive and biocompatible CNT films.
