Oral cancer (OC) is the most common form of head and neck cancer. Despite the high incidence and unfavourable patient outcomes, currently, there are no biomarkers for the early detection of OC. This study aims to discover, develop, and validate a novel saliva-based microrNA signature for early diagnosis and prediction of OC risk in oral potentially malignant disorders (OPMD).The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA) mirNA sequencing data and small rNA sequencing data of saliva samples were used to discover differentially expressed mirNAs. Identified mirNAs were validated in saliva samples of OC (n=50), OPMD (n=52), and controls(n=60) using quantitative real-time PCr. Eight differentially expressed mirNAs (mir-7-5p, mir-10b-5p, mir-182-5p, mir-215-5p,mir-431-5p, mir-486-3p, mir-3614-5p, and mir-4707-3p) were identified in the discovery phase and were validated. The efficiency of our eight-mirNA signature to discriminate OC and controls was:area under curve (AUC):0.954, sensitivity:86%, specificity:90%,positive predictive value (PPV):87.8%and negative predictive value (NPV):88.5%whereas between OC and OPMD was:AUC:0.911,sensitivity:90%, specificity:82.7%, PPV:74.2%and NPV:89.6%. We have developed a risk probability score to predict the presence or risk of OC in OPMD patients. We established a salivary mirNA signature that can aid in diagnosing and predicting OC,revolutionising the management of patients with OPMD. Together, our results shed new light on the management of OC by salivary mirNAs to the clinical utility of using mirNAs derived from saliva samples.

BACKGrOUND Schwannomas are rare,often benign,tumors deriving from Schwann cells that have low incidence in the retroperitoneal region(0.5%to 5%).Their diagnosis is hardly confirmed at early stage due to lack of specific features in signs,symptoms and imaging ***,it is necessary performing guided punch biopsy in order to identify *** removal is the treatment of choice due to its low sensitivity to radiation and *** SUMMArY forty-seven years old female patient who was hospitalized for elective orthopedic procedure,without complications,evolved with severe pain in the lower limbs,thigh and gluteal region associated with neurogenic *** pain required magnetic resonance imaging(MrI)of the lumbar spine,which showed epidural collection with dural compression and massive heterogeneous perihepatic nodular *** surgical team opted for draining the collection,as well as requested an MrI of the abdomen and pelvis,whose analysis showed expansive lesion in the retroperitoneum,in close contact with the inferior vena cava and with the right renal vein.A guided puncture was performed for diagnostic clarification,which showed immunohistochemical profile compatible with *** selected treatment comprised retroperitoneum tumor resection in association with laparoscopic *** patient was discharged and remained stable after 4-mo follow-up;she remains under followup to check the need of cancer *** Schwannoma features requires surgical treatment based on laparoscopic resection,which often presents low relapse rates and optimistic prognosis.

OI 630.0 nm airglow observations,from a new observatory at Bom Jesus de Lapa,were used to study the interaction between EPBs(Equatorial Plasma Bubbles)and the MSTID(Medium-Scale Traveling Ionospheric Disturbance)over the Northeast region in *** the night of September 16 to 17,2020,an EPB was observed propagating eastward,in an apparent fossil stage,until it interacted with a dark band electrified MSTID(e MSTID).After the interaction,four EPBs merged,followed by an abrupt southward development and *** of the data suggests that an eastward polarization electric field,induced by the dark band e MSTID,forced the EPB into an upward drift,growing latitudinally along the magnetic field lines and then bifurcating.

Physiological Effect of Kinetin on the Photosynthetic Apparatus and Antioxidant Enzymes Activities During Production of Anthurium

The results observed in the literature raise the hypothesis according to which cytokinin plays important roles in photosynthetic metabolisms and antioxidant enzymes. Thus, the study aimed to evaluate the effect of foliar application of the isolated cytokinin kinetin at the production cycle, seeking to analyze its effects on enzyme activity and photosynthetic parameters. The plants treated with CK presented reduction of leaf CO_2 assimilation rate(Pn) and stomatal conductance(Gs), while that transpiration rate(Tr) was unaffected. The internal CO_2 concentrations decreased with the increase in cytokinin levels, but were maintained under CK 50 mg·L^(-1). The plants treated with CK 75 mg·L^(-1) was verified higher carboxylation efficiency(Pn/Ci), which was associated to values of CO_2 assimilation and transpiration unaltered. Apparent electron transport rate showed variations in the concentration of 25 mg·L^(-1). Considering the study of enzyme activity, on the other hand, it cannot be stated that kinetin has an effective action in delaying oxidative damage. It presents mixed results, since an efficiency in the application of cytokinin was not observed, presenting induction levels of ascorbate peroxidase activity. Thus, further research is needed to determine more precisely the effects of kinetin on gas exchange and antioxidant enzymes in anthurium plants.

Development and validation of a thermally regulated atmospheric simulation chamber(THALAMOS): A versatile tool to simulate atmospheric processes

Atmospheric simulation chambers,are unique tools for investigating atmospheric processes in the gas and heterogeneous *** can provide a controlled yet realistic environment that simulates atmospheric *** the current study,a Teflon atmospheric simulation chamber of 600 L,named THALAMOS(thermally regulated atmospheric simulation chamber) has been developed and *** can be operated over the temperature range 233 to 373 K under both static and flow *** is equipped with state of the art instrumentation(selective ion flow tube mass spectrometry(SIfT-MS),long path fourier transform infrared spectroscopy(fTIr),gas chromatography-mass spectrometry(GC-MS),various analyzers) for the in-line monitoring of both reactants and *** was validated by measuring the rate coefficients of well documented reactions,*** reaction of ethanol with OH radicals and the reaction of dichloromethane with Cl atoms,in a wide temperature *** different detection techniques were used in parallel,fTIr and SIfT-MS,to internally cross-validate the obtained *** measured rate coefficients are in excellent agreement,both between each other and with the literature recommended ***,the gas phase oxidation of toluene by Cl atoms(kinetics and product yields) was studied in the temperature range of 253 to 333 *** the best of our knowledge,THALAMOS is a unique facility on national level and among a few smog chambers internationally that can be operated in such a wide temperature range providing the scientific community with a versatile tool to simulate both outdoor and indoor physicochemical processes.

A Phase-field Model Coupled with Lattice Kinetics Solver for Modeling Crystal Growth in furnaces

In this study,we present a new numerical model for crystal growth in a vertical solidification *** model takes into account the buoyancy induced convective flow and its effect on the crystal growth *** evolution of the crystal growth interface is simulated using the phase-field method.A semi-implicit lattice kinetics solver based on the Boltzmann equation is employed to model the unsteady incompressible *** model is used to investigate the effect of furnace operational conditions on crystal growth interface profiles and growth *** a simple case of macroscopic radial growth,the phase-field model is validated against an analytical *** numerical simulations reveal that for a certain set of temperature boundary conditions,the heat transport in the melt near the phase interface is diffusion dominant and advection is suppressed.
