Hepatitis D in Patients Infected with Hepatitis B Virus in Cotonou:Characteristics and Risk Factors

Introduction: Hepatitis D virus (HDV) is a satellite virus of hepatitis B virus (HBV). The purpose of this work was to describe the epidemiological, clinical and biological characteristics of HBV/HDV co-infection and the factors associated with this co-infection in Cotonou. Methods: This was a cross-sectional, descriptive study with prospective data collection. It took place from June to October 2016 at CNHU/HKM and the Atinkanmey Polyclinic in Cotonou. Subjects over 15 years of age with HBsAg and untreated for hepatitis were included consecutively. Sociodemographic, clinical and biological characteristics were collected for each patient using only a standardized questionnaire. Then, a blood sample was taken for the determination of anti-HDV antibodies as well as the viral load of HBV. Results: A total of 156 subjects were included, predominantly male (sex-ratio = 2), and of median age 36 years. The majority were monogamous married (50%) or single (41.7%), and were from south of Benin (84.6%). Most subjects were asymptomatic (49.4%). The prevalence of total HDV antibodies was 3.9% (6/156). In subjects with total HDV antibodies, the prevalence of HDV IgM was 33.3%. Origin in northern Benin appears to be a risk factor for HDV infection (p = 0.042). Similarly, married subjects were statistically more infected with HDV than unmarried subjects (p = 0.002). Conclusion: The prevalence of HDV infection varies according to the origin of the patients and their marital status.

DroidData: Tracking and Monitoring Data Transmission in the Android Operating System

Most of the millions of Android users worldwide use applications from the official Android market (Google Play store) and unregulated alternative markets to get more functionality from their devices. Many of these applications transmit sensitive data stored on the device, either maliciously or accidentally, to outside networks. In this paper, we will study the ways that Android applications transmit data to outside servers and propose a user-friendly application, DroidData, to inform and protect the user from these security risks. We will use tools such as TaintDroid, AppIntent, and Securacy to propose an application that reveals what types of data are being transmitted from apps, the location to which the data is being transmitted, whether the data is being transmitted through a secure channel (such as HTTPS) and whether the user is aware that the information is being transmitted. The application will generate a report that allows the user to block the application that leaks sensitive information. In doing so, we will examine the importance, relevance, and prevalence of these Android Data security issues.

The administration of extracellular vesicles(EV)from mesenchymal stromal cells(MSC)is a promising cell-free nanotherapy for tissue repair after myocardial infarction(mi).However,the optimal EV delivery strategy remains ***,we designed a novel MSC-EV delivery,using 3D scaffolds engineered from decellularised cardiac tissue as a cell-free product for cardiac *** from porcine cardiac adipose tissue-derived MSC(cATMSC)were purified by size exclusion chromatography(SEC),functionally analysed and loaded to ***-EV markedly reduced polyclonal proliferation and pro-inflammatory cytokines production(IFNγ,TNFα,IL12p40)of allogeneic ***,cATMSC-EV recruited outgrowth endothelial cells(OEC)and allogeneic MSC,and promoted *** labelled cATMSC-EV were mixed with peptide hydrogel,and were successfully retained in decellularised ***,cATMSC-EV-embedded pericardial scaffolds were administered in vivo over the ischemic myocardium in a pig model of *** days from implantation,the engineered scaffold efficiently integrated into the post-infarcted ***-EV were detected within the construct and mi core,and promoted an increase in vascular density and reduction in macrophage and T cell infiltration within the damaged *** confined administration of multifunctional MSC-EV within an engineered pericardial scaffold ensures local EV dosage and release,and generates a vascularised bioactive niche for cell recruitment,engraftment and modulation of short-term post-ischemic inflammation.

Background Previous studies indicated that long coronary lesions are one of the key predictors of drug-eluting stent （DES） failure. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the efficacy and the safety of the long length FIREHAWK stent in long coronary artery disease. Methods The long cohort of TARGET I was a prospective, multicenter, single arm trial. It was planned to enroll 50 patients undergoing percutaneous coronary intervention （PCI） for the treatment of de novo long lesions in a native coronary artery. The major inclusion criteria of the trial was that patients were intended to undergo the treatment of a long target lesion（s） with diameter stenosis 〉70% and reference vessel diameter 2.5 mm to 4.0 mm by visual estimate, that needed to be covered by at least one 33 mm or 38 mm stent or multiple long stents overlapped. The angiographic follow-up was planned at 9-month and the clinical follow-up will be up to 5 years. The primary end point was in-stent late lumen loss at 9-month. Results Fifty patients （mean age （57.6±10.2） years） with 59 de novo long lesions （reference vessel diameter （2.85±0.44） mm, lesion length （35.2±9.4） mm, and stent length （41.8±11.3） mm） were enrolled. The angiographic follow-up rate was 92% at 9-month. The in-stent late loss was （0.16±0.16） mm. Proximal edge, distal edge and in-segment late loss （mm） were 0.21±0.35, 0.03±0.33, and 0.07±0.26, respectively. No in-segment binary restenosis was observed. At 1-year no death, Q wave myocardial infarction （mi）, or stent thrombosis occurred. Non-Q-wave mi occurred in two patients （4%） due to procedural complications. Conclusions Treatment of long coronary lesions with the FIREHAWK stent is able to produce similar results as observed in the FIREHAWK~ FIM clinical trial. Based on this result, we are confident in the treatment prospect of the FIREHAWK for long coronary lesions.
