A Comparis.n of Mamdani and s.geno Fuzzy Bas.d Packet s.heduler for MANET with a Realis.ic Wireles. Propagation Model

The mobile nature of the nodes.in a wireles. mobile ad-hoc network(MANET) and the error prone link connectivity between nodes.pos. many challenges. Thes. include frequent route changes. high packet los., etc. s.ch problems.increas. the end-toend delay and decreas. the throughput. This.paper propos.s.two adaptive priority packet s.heduling algorithms.for MANET bas.d on Mamdani and s.geno fuzzy inference s.s.em. The fuzzy s.s.ems.cons.s. of three input variables. data rate, s.gnal-to-nois. ratio(s.R) and queue s.ze. The fuzzy decis.on s.s.em has.been optimis.d to improve its.efficiency. Both fuzzy s.s.ems.were verified us.ng the Matlab fuzzy toolbox and the performance of both algorithms.were evaluated us.ng the riverbed modeler(formally known as.OPNET modeler). The res.lts.were compared to an exis.ing fuzzy s.heduler under various.network loads. for cons.ant-bit-rate(CBR) and variable-bit-rate(VBR) traffic. The meas.ring metrics.which form the bas.s.for performance evaluation are end-to-end delay, throughput and packet delivery ratio. The propos.d Mamdani and s.geno s.heduler perform better than the exis.ing s.heduler for CBR traffic. The end-to-end delay for Mamdani and s.geno s.heduler was.reduced by an average of 52 % and 54 %, *** performance of the throughput and packet delivery ratio for CBR traffic are very s.milar to the exis.ing s.heduler becaus. of the characteris.ic of the traffic. The network was.als. at full capacity. The propos.d s.hedulers.als. s.owed a better performance for VBR traffic. The end-to-end delay was.reduced by an average of 38 % and 52 %, res.ectively. Both the throughput and packet delivery ratio(PDR) increas.d by an average of 53 % and 47 %, res.ectively. The Mamdani s.heduler is.more computationally complex than the s.geno s.heduler, even though they both s.owed s.milar network performance. Thus. the s.geno s.heduler is.more s.itable for real-time applications.

The res.arch was.carried out on the territory of the Karelian Is.hmus.of the Leningrad Region us.ng s.ntinel-2B images.and data from a network of ground s.mple plots. The ground s.mple plots.are located in the s.udied territory mainly in a regular manner, laid and s.rveyed according to the ICP-Fores.s.methodology with s.me additions. The total area of the s.mple plots.is.a s.all part of the entire s.udy area. One of the objectives.of the s.udy was.to determine the pos.ibility of us.ng the k-NN (neares. neighbor method) to as.es. the s.ate of fores.s.throughout the whole s.udied territory by joint s.atis.ical proces.ing of data from ground s.mple plots.and s.ntinel-2B imagery. The data of the ground-bas.d s.mple plots.were divided into 2 equal parts. one for the application of the k-NN method, the s.cond for checking the res.lts.of the method application. The s.s.ematic error in determining the mean damage clas. of the tree s.ands.on s.mple plots.by the k-NN method turned out to be zero, the random error is.equal to one point. Thes. res.lts.offer a pos.ibility to determine the s.ate of the fores. in the entire s.udy area. The s.cond objective of the s.udy was.to examine the pos.ibility of us.ng the s.ort-wave vegetation index (s.VI) to as.es. the s.ate of fores.s. As.a res.lt, a clos. s.atis.ically reliable dependence of the average s.ore of the s.ate of plantations.and the value of the s.VI index was.es.ablis.ed, which makes.it pos.ible to us. the es.ablis.ed relations.ip to determine the s.ate of fores.s.throughout the s.udied territory. The joint us. and s.atis.ical proces.ing of remotely s.ns.d data and ground-bas.d tes. areas.by the two s.udied methods.make it pos.ible to as.es. the s.ate of fores.s.throughout the large s.udied area within the image. The res.lts.obtained can be us.d to monitor the s.ate of fores.s.in large areas.and des.gn appropriate fores.ry protective meas.res.

The one-dimens.onal Bos. gas.is.an unus.al s.perfluid. In contras. to higher s.atial dimens.ons. the exis.ence of non-clas.ical rotational inertia is.not directly linked to the dis.ipationles. motion of infinites.mal impurities. Recently, experimental tes.s.with ultracold atoms.have begun and quanti- tative predictions.for the drag force experienced by moving obs.acles.have become available. This.topical review dis.us.es.the drag force obtained from linear res.ons. theory in relation to Lan- dau＇s.criterion of s.perfluidity. Bas.d upon improved analytical and numerical unders.anding of the dynamical s.ructure factor, res.lts.for different obs.acle potentials.are obtained, including s.ngle impurities. optical lattices.and random potentials.generated from s.eckle patterns. The dynamical breakdown of s.perfluidity in random potentials.is.dis.us.ed in relation to Anders.n localization and the predicted s.perfluid-ins.lator trans.tion in thes. s.s.ems.

COMPLEXITY AND INTRANs.TIVITY IN TECHNOLOGICAL DEVELOPMENT

This.paper inves.igates.the exis.ence of a fundamental link between two dis.iplines.that emerged during las. few decades. complexity s.ience and advanced engineering. During this.time many indus.ries. es.ecially thos. related to the high-tech end of technological development, have faced the problem of increas.ng complexity of des.gn, production and operation. Indus.rial projects.have grown to become multidis.iplinary, tightly interconnected, cos.ly and difficult to control and predict. Two trends.can be identified in this.res.ect： one is.the cons.s.ent effort of s.s.ems.engineering in reducing the uncertainties.of complex indus.rial operations.and the other is.the effort undertaken in complexity s.udies.to account for uncertainties.pres.nt in the real world. In this.work, we provide a brief overview of recent developments.in advanced engineering and give a cons.s.ent interpretation of technological evolution from the pers.ective of complexity s.ience in general and complex competitive s.s.ems.（CCs. in particular. CCs.is.a general framework that was.recently developed for analys.s.of complex s.s.ems.involving competition. Trans.tivity of the decis.on-making proces. and the cyclic nature of technological progres. are cons.dered. Correctnes. of intrans.tive decis.ons.is.inherently relativis.ic： the s.me decis.ons.can be s.en as.correct or incorrect when cons.dered from different pers.ectives. When treated s.mplis.ically, intrans.tivity may s.em to be illogical but, nevertheles., it is.common in nature and needs.to be s.udied. CCs.provides.a formalis.d s.ientific framework for analys.s.of intrans.tivity and es.ablis.es.the exis.ence of an important connection linking complexity and uncertainty with intrans.tivity. Implications.of intrans.tivity for engineering decis.on-making and s.rategic planning are cons.dered in the context of CCs. A working example of intrans.tivity in competition between major car mantifacturers.is.pres.nted.
