One possible hypothesis for the function of post-fledging dispersal is to locate a suitable future breeding area.This post-fledging period may be particularly important in migratory species because they have a limited period to gather information prior to autumn migration,and in protandrous species,males must quickly acquire a territory after returning from spring migration to maximize their fitness.Here we use color-ring resightings to investigate how the post-fledging dispersal movements of the Cyprus wheatear Oenanthe cypriaca,a small migratory passerine,relate to their first breeding territory the following year when they return from migration.We found that males established first breeding territories that were significantly closer to their post-fledging location than to their natal sites or to post-fledging locations of other conspecifics,but these patterns were not apparent in females.Our findings suggest that familiarity with potential breeding sites may be important for juveniles of migratory species,particularly for the sex that acquires and advertises breeding territories.Exploratory dispersal prior to a migrant’s first autumn migration may contribute toward its breeding success the following year,further highlighting the importance of early seasonal breeding on fitness and population dynamics more generally.

The amyloid cascade hypothesis of Alzheimer’s pathogenesis:The amyloid cascade hypothesis of Alzheimer’s disease(AD)pathogenesis will shortly celebrate its thirtieth birthday(Hardy and Higgins,1992).Based on abundant genetic and biochemical evidence,it proposes that deposition of the amyloid-β(Aβ)peptide in brain parenchyma is an essential upstream trigger in AD pathogenesis that drives a cascade of events,specifically including the recruitment and pathological hyper-phosphorylation of the micro-tubule-associated protein tau,that culminate in derangement of synaptic function and,eventually,neuronal death.

The continuing growth of modern big cities leads to their spatial expansion and the emergence of new road connections and urban areas.Areas where large transportation flows of pedestrians,passengers,and drivers come together create demand points,which attract business companies that strive to allocate their resources in the most sought-after places.However,the law of supply and demand restrains companies from allocating all their resources solely in the most popular congestion areas since the more valuable an urban area,the higher the cost to be paid for a resource unit allocation there.As a result,companies act in a non-cooperative manner and try to minimize their own overall costs when allocating resources across available commercial areas in a big city.Non-cooperative behavior of companies leads to the problem of Nash equilibrium search in the game of competing entrepreneurs.In this paper,we study the corresponding resource allocation game under affine cost functions and obtain Nash equilibrium strategies in explicit form.These findings allow us to develop a simple procedure for computing Nash equilibria in the game of companies allocating their resources among urban congestion areas.The computational study demonstrates the dependence of the average price for resource allocation on the number of players and their resource volumes.The outcome of the paper contributes to flow theory and seems to be fresh and useful for managers.

Comparative study of terrestrial locomotion of 4ﬁsh genera including Anabas,Channa,Clarias,and Monopterus,was performed in experimental setting with the substrate surface of wet clay.No special adaptations for terrestrial locomotion were found.Everyﬁsh uses for propulsion on land what it already has.Eel-shaped Monopterus crawls by body undulations in a serpentine or sidewinding technique,the latter of which was not previously observed beyond snakes.The other 3ﬁsh genera walk by body oscillations using stiff appendages as propulsors.When they are located anteriorly,as the serrate operculum in Anabas and the preaxial spine of the pectoralﬁn in Clarias,the propulsion is termed prolocomotor,when posteriorly,as the spiny analﬁn in Channa—metalocomotor.Channa is the heaviestﬁsh walking out of water in our days,quite comparable in size withﬁrst Devonian tetrapods Acan-thostega and Tulerpeton.A theoretical calculation is suggested for the upper size limit of aﬁsh capable of terrestrial walking without special locomotor adaptations.It should be roughly 20 cm in the vertical dimension of the trunk,which is just a little above the known size of Devonian tetrapodomorphﬁshes Panderichthys and Elpistostege.The metalocomotor walking technique of Channa is suggested as the closest extant model for terrestrial locomotion at theﬁsh-tetrapod transition.The major difference is that the metalocomotor propulsor in Channa is represented by the analﬁn,while in tetrapodomorphs by the pelvicﬁns.The sprawled pelvicﬁns were advantageous in respect of reduced requirement for side-to-side tail swinging.

Industrial accidents have shown that many people can be affected,such as in Seveso,Italy,in 1976.Industrial accidents in nuclear power plants have also led to fatalities and evacuations.To better guide preparedness against and mitigation of industrial accidents,an assessment is necessary to evaluate hazard exposure and the type of potentially vulnerable social groups that need to be taken into account.This study conducted a spatial assessment of three types of industrial facilities in Germany:facilities registered under the Seveso Directive,chemical parks,and nuclear power plants.The method consisted of a spatial assessment using a Geographic Information System of exposure around hazardous sites registered under the S eveso Directive in Germany and of census data to analyze social vulnerability.Hazards analyzed included industrial accidents and earthquakes.The results revealed that most industrial sites are in urban areas and that population density,the numbers of foreigners,and smaller housing unit sizes are higher in close proximity to these sites.The buffer zones analyzed in circles between 1 and 40 km show a decreasing vulnerability with more distance.This can guide emergency management planners and other stakeholders to better prepare for major accidents and better devise disaster risk reduction strategies specifically for different social groups.

BACKGROUND:Agitation is a common presentation within emergent departments(EDs).Agitation during pregnancy should be treated as an obstetric emergency,as the distress may jeopardize both the patient and fetus.The safety of psychotropic medications in the reproductive age female has not been well established.This review aimed to explore a summary of general agitation recommendations with an emphasis on ED management of agitation during pregnancy.METHODS:A literature review was conducted to explore the pathophysiology of acute agitation and devise a preferred treatment plan for ED management of acute agitation in the reproductive age or pregnant female.RESULTS:While nonpharmacological management is preferred,ED visits for agitation often require medical management.Medication should be selected based on the etiology of agitation and the clinical setting to avoid major adverse effects.Adverse effects are common in pregnant females.For mild to moderate agitation in pregnancy,diphenhydramine is an effective sedating agent with minimal adverse effects.In moderate to severe agitation,high-potency typical psychotropics are preferred due to their neutral effects on hemodynamics.Haloperidol has become the most frequently utilized psychotropic for agitation during pregnancy.Second generation psychotropics are often utilized as second-line therapy,including risperidone.Benzodiazepines and ketamine have demonstrated adverse fetal outcomes.CONCLUSION:While randomized control studies cannot be ethically conducted on pregnant patients requiring sedation,animal models and epidemiologic studies have demonstrated the effects of psychotropic medication exposure in utero.As the fetal risk associated with multiple doses of psychotropic medications remains unknown,weighing the risks and benefits of each agent,while utilizing the lowest effective dose remains critical in the treatment of acute agitation within the EDs.

This article is devoted to studying the dynamical evolution and orbital stability of compact extrasolar threeplanetary system GJ 3138. In this system, all semimajor axes are less than 0.7 au. The modeling of planetary motion is performed using the averaged semi-analytical motion theory of the second order in planetary masses,which the authors construct. Unknown and known with errors orbital elements vary in allowable limits to obtain a set of initial conditions. Each of these initial conditions is applied for the modeling of planetary motion. The assumption about the stability of observed planetary systems allows to eliminate the initial conditions leading to excessive growth of the orbital eccentricities and inclinations and to identify those under which these orbital elements conserve moderate values over the whole modeling interval. Thus, it becomes possible to limit the range of possible values of unknown orbital elements and determine their most probable values in terms of stability.

Background:The purpose of motivating students is to enhance their learning achievement.The expectancy-value theory(EVT)has demonstrated its efficacy in motivating students in classrooms and in gymnasia.Understanding student motivation in physical education is needed.This metaanalysis review aimed to reveal the determinants and functions of EVT by evaluating the evidence in physical education research.Methods:We followed the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Review and Meta-Analyses(PRISMA)guidelines to identify and meta-analyze the current research literature published from January 2010 to December 2020 by generating and analyzing the effect sizes from the studies.Results:A total of 31 studies were included.The results show that social support,motivation of teachers and peers,and positive class climate can predict student EVT motivation.EVT motivation predicts student learning behaviors,situational interests,fitness performance,health behavior function,out-of-school physical activity,and physical skill development.Conclusion:EVT motivation could facilitate learning behaviors and situational interest development in the gymnasium.It might lead to fitness enhancement,health behavior change,out-of-school physical activity participation,and physical skill development.Fostering a learning environment with a mastery-centered and/or student autonomy approach where students perceived success and the task values can enhance and maximize student EVT motivation and learning achievement.
