Usi.g the data on magneti. fi.ld maps and conti.uum i.tensi.y for Solar Cycles 23 and 24,we explored 100 acti.e regi.ns(ARs)that produced M5.0 or stronger *** focus on the presence/absence of the emergence of magneti. flux i. these ARs 2-3 days before the strong flare *** found that 29 ARs i. the sample emerged monotoni.ally ami.st qui.t-Sun.A major emergence of a new magneti. flux wi.hi. a pre-exi.ti.g AR yi.ldi.g the formati.n of a complex flare-producti.e confi.urati.n was observed i. another 24 *** 30 ARs,an i.si.ni.i.ant(i. terms of the total magneti. flux of pre-exi.ti.g AR)emergence of a new magneti. flux wi.hi. the pre-exi.ti.g magneti. confi.urati.n was observed;for some of them the emergence resulted i. a formati.n of a confi.urati.n wi.h a small δ-sunspot;11 out of 100 ARs exhi.i.ed no si.natures of magneti. flux emergence duri.g the enti.e i.terval of *** si. cases the emergence was i. progress when the AR appeared on the Eastern li.b,so that the classi.i.ati.n and ti.i.g of emergence were not *** conclude that the recent flux emergence i. not a necessary and/or suffi.i.nt condi.i.n for strong flari.g of an *** flux emergence rate of flare-producti.e ARs analyzed here was compared wi.h that of flare-qui.t ARs analyzed i. our previ.us *** revealed that the flare-producti.e ARs tend to di.play faster emergence than the flare-qui.t ones do.
