The variations.in the c.pac.ty of fis. s.ec.es.to bios.nthes.ze the n-3 highly polyuns.turated fatty ac.ds.（HUFA）, eic.s.pentaenoic.（EPA） and doc.s.hexaenoic.（DHA） ac.ds.whic. are c.uc.al to the health of higher vertebrates.has.been well doc.mented. HUFA bios.nthes.s.has.been reported to involve enzyme-mediated fatty ac.l des.turation and elongation proc.s.es. In previous.s.udies. various.authors.have c.oned, c.arac.erized and identified different genes.for fatty ac.l des.turas. and elongas. （FAD and FAE, res.ec.ively） enzymes.from fis. s.ec.es.s.c. as.Atlantic.s.lmon and zebra fis., and have als. s.own the up and down regulation of the ac.ivity of thes. enzymes.in res.ons. to fluc.uations.in dietary HUFA. In this.paper, we report on the tis.ue dis.ribution in the expres.ion of genes.（mRNA） for FAD and FAE enzymes.in c.anna s.riata （Bloc., 1793） fingerlings. to evaluate the tis.ues.of the fis. whic. s.ow the highes. ac.ivity of thes. enzymes. For this.purpos., mRNA from 8 different tis.ues.of the fis. （maintained on a c.mmerc.al diet） were is.lated and analyzed, us.ng c.nventional Pc. tec.nique. The tis.ue dis.ribution of the genes.was.es.imated to be s.gnific.ntly （P＜0.05） higher for both FAD and FAE enzymes.in the liver and brain of c. s.riata than in the other 6 tis.ues.meas.red （mus.le, ovary, tes.is. gill and s.in） res.ec.ively. The implic.tion of this.obs.rvation with res.ec. to the us. of vegetable oils.to s.bs.itute fis. oil in diets.for fres.water fis. s.ec.es.is.dis.us.ed ac.ordingly.

The artic.e des.ribes.ethylene polymerization reac.ions.with trans.tion metal c.talys.s.bas.d on c.mplexes.of c.c._(2) and Fec._(2) with an N,N,N-tridentate ligand 2,6-bis.1-(2,6-dimethylphenylimino)ethyl]pyridine. The c.mplexes.are c.nverted into polymerization c.talys.s.by reac.ing them either with polymethylalumoxane (MAO) or with a c.mbination of Al(c.H5)2c. and Mg(c.H9)2 at an [Al]:[Mg] ratio of ~3. Both MAO-ac.ivated c.mplexes.readily polymerize ethylene at 35 ℃ with the formation of linear, low molec.lar weight polymers.with a narrow molec.lar weight dis.ribution. The s.me c.mplexes. when ac.ivated with the Al(c.H5)2c.-Mg(c.H9)2 c.mbination, form multi-c.nter c.talys.s.and generate polyethylenes.with a broad molec.lar weight dis.ribution.
