bactrocera tryoni and bactrocera neohumeralis are morphologically similar sibling pest fruit fly species that possess different biological attributes,geographic distributions,and host *** need to differentiate between the two species is critical for accurate pest status assessment,management,biosecurity,and maintenance of reference *** morphologically similar,adults may be separated based on subtle characters;however,some characters exhibit intraspecific variability,creating overlap between the two ***,there is currently no single molecular marker or rapid diagnostic assay that can reliably distinguish between *** and ***;therefore,ambiguous samples remain *** we report the first molecular marker that can consistently distinguish between *** and *** diagnostic region consists of two adjacent single nucleotide polymorphisms(SNPs)within the pangolin(pan)gene *** confirmed the genotypes of each species are consistent across their distributional range,then developed a tetra-primer amplification refractory mutation system(ARMS)PCR assay for rapid diagnosis of the *** assay utilizes four primers in multiplex,with two outer universal primers,and two internal primers:one designed to target two adjacent SNPs(AA)present in *** and the other targeting adjacent SNPs present in ***(GG).The assay accurately discriminates between the two species,but their SNP genotypes are shared with other nontarget tephritid fruit fly ***,this assay is most suited to adult diagnostics where species confirmation is necessary in determining ambiguous surveillance trap catches;maintaining pure colony lines;and in Sterile Insect Technique management responses.

Effect of Variety and Plant Spacing on Growth and Yield of Groundnuts (Arachis hypogaea L.)

A field experiment was carried out to determine the effect of variety and plant spacing on yield and growth of groundnuts. The field experiment was laid in a 3 × 3 factorial experiment in a Randomized Complete block Design (RCbD) with three (3) replications. The factor A included three (3) groundnut varieties (Nkatie Sari, Sum Nutt 22 and Yenyawoso) and Factor b was the three (3) spacing of 30 cm × 15 cm, 30 cm × 30 cm and 30 cm × 40 cm. All recommended agronomic practices were followed. Data was collected from eight (8) tagged plants. Growth data were recorded on plant height, number of branches, number of leaves, and the number of flowers while yield data were collected on the number of flowers, number of pods per plant, 100 seeds weight and the pod yield (kg/ha). The plant spacing significantly influenced (P ber of leaves, number of branches and number of flowers were produced from 30 cm × 40 cm. Yenyawoso variety with a wider plant spacing performed better vegetatively among all the varieties. The Yenyawoso variety produced the highest number of pods, 100 seeds weight and pod yield as compared to the other varieties. Also, Yenyawoso at 30 cm × 40 cm spacing and Nkatie Sari at 30 cm × 15 cm spacing produced the maximum pod yield.

Presentation of the Module ＂GRAPHS＂ for Analyzing Geobotanical Data

This paper describes the program module "GRAPHS" which was developed for data processing in geobotany and ecology fields. The "GRAPHS" has a simple interface and is integrated into the Microsoft Excel. This allows users to use all features of Microsoft Excel for storage and preparation data for analysis. Calculation of the most common similarity indexes (Jaccarda, Sorenson, Ohai etc.) and their visualization by using different algorithms of the graph theory or hierarchical cluster analysis allows simplifying and accelerating the process of data analysis in ecology or geobotany and makes it clearer. Also, three ordination methods-PCA (principal components analysis), CA (correspondence analysis), NMS (nonmetric multidimensional scaling)-were implemented in the module. The module can be used for vegetation classification, and be used to allocate diagnostic species or to search environmental factors most strongly impact on vegetation. Algorithms of data analysis which were implemented in the module "GRAPHS" have universal nature so they can be applied in many other fields of science.

A Well-balanced Partial Relaxation Scheme for the Two-Dimensional Saint-Venant System

We develop a new moving-water equilibria preserving partial relaxation(PR)scheme for the two-dimensional(2-D)Saint-Venant systemof shallowwater *** new scheme is a 2-D generalization of the one-dimensional(1-D)PR scheme recently proposed in[***,***,***,***,***,***.,42(2020),pp.A2206–A2229].Our scheme is based on the PR approximation,which is designed in two ***,the geometric source terms are incorporated into the discharge fluxes,which results in a hyperbolic system with global ***,the discharge equations are relaxed so that the nonlinearity is moved into the stiff right-hand side of the four added auxiliary *** obtained PR system is then numerically integrated using a semi-discrete hybrid upwind/central-upwind finitevolume method combined with an efficient semi-implicit ODE *** new 2-D PR scheme inherits the main advantages of the 1-D PR scheme:(i)no special treatment of the geometric source terms is required,(ii)no nonlinear(cubic)equations should be solved to obtain the point values of the water depth out of the reconstructed *** performance of the proposed PR scheme is illustrated on a number of numerical examples,in which we demonstrate that the PR scheme not only capable of exactly preserving quasi 1-D moving-water steady states and accurately capturing their small perturbations,but can also handle genuinely 2-D steady states and their small perturbations in a non-oscillatory manner.
