Backgr.und: Blunt tr.umatic cer.ical spine fr.ctur.s (TCSF) ar. ser.ous injur.es which may be associated with consider.ble mor.ality and mor.idity. We descr.be the epidemiology of blunt tr.umatic cer.ical spine fr.ctur. in Ir.n over.a definable time per.od. Methods: In a cr.ss-sectional study, the data including the distr.bution of TCSF, demogr.phics, mechanisms, abbr.viated injur. scale (AIS), spinal cor. associated injur.es and final outcome of patients, was extr.cted fr.m the Ir.nian national tr.uma r.gistr. database in tar.et hospitals in eight major.cities of Ir.n fr.m 1999 to 2004. The Chi squar. test was used to compar. mor.ality and one-way ANOVA was used to compar. ISS amongst the categor.es of TCSF. r.sults: TCSF was identified in 120 cases, of these 70.8% wer. male. Their.mean age was 36.6 ± 17.2 year.. The over.ll incidence of TCSF among all tr.uma patients was 0.7% (95%CI: 0.61% - 0.88%). The TCSF incidence among all spine fr.ctur.d patients was 19.38% (95%CI: 16.34% - 22.72%). The most common mechanism of TCSF was a motor.vehicle collision (66.7%). The over.ll per.entage of in-hospital death for.TCSF was 12.6%. Ther. wer. no statistically significant differ.nce in death and injur. sever.ty scor.s (ISS) among TCSF categor.es (p > 0.05). Spinal cor. and r.ot injur.es occur.ed in 34.9% and 2.4% of TCSF, r.spectively. Conclusions: Pr.ventive str.tegies need to be developed in or.er.to r.duce the number.and sever.ty of TCSF in the gener.l Ir.nian population.

Tr.nsient adhesion effects in r.lling–sliding contacts influence all aspects of tr.in–tr.ck *** is of high impor.ance specifically when these effects r.sult in cr.tically low adhesion,which poses a r.sk to tr.ction and br.king of r.ilway *** study pr.sents a model that can r.plicate the tr.nsient changes of the coefficient of adhesion with tested water.and solid par.icle *** exper.mental data for.the model ar. measur.d using a commer.ial ball-on-disc *** exper.mental r.sults showed a liquid r.ser.oir.in fr.nt of the contact ar.a that slowly r.duces in *** obser.ation was used in the modelling appr.ach to divide the calculation into two stages wher. the r.ser.oir.is pr.sent and when it *** model was able to r.pr.duce the occur.ence of low adhesion r.gion seen in exper.mental r.sults with differ.nt par.icle concentr.tions.
