BACKGROUND Strongyloides sterocoralis is a parasitic infection caused by a roundworm th.t is transmitted th.ough.soil contaminated with.*** can infrequently cause h.patic abscesses in immunocompromised patients and is rarely reported to form h.patic lesions in immunocompetent *** SUMMARY We present a case study of a 45-year-old female wh. presented with.righ. upper quadrant abdominal pain and constitutional symptoms for several *** imaging identified several malignant-appearing liver *** investigation,including serological testing and h.stopath.logic examination,revealed th. presence of serum Strongyloides antibodies and h.patic granulomas with.extensive *** treatment with.ivermectin for 2 wk,th.re was complete resolution of th. liver lesions and associated *** Th.s case h.gh.igh.s th. importance of considering parasitic infections,such.as Strongyloides,in th. differential diagnosis of h.patic *** recognition and appropriate treatment can lead to a favorable outcome and prevent unnecessary invasive *** awareness among clinicians is crucial to ensure th. timely diagnosis and management of such.cases.

AIM： To investigate th. effects of 5-Fluorouracil （5-FU） on modulation of pro-inflammatory and anti-inflammatory cytokines in acute pancreatitis and th. mech.nism of it in th. treatment of acute pancreatitis. METh.DS： Male Sprague Dawley rats were assigned to 3 Groups： Group A, sh.m operated rats as controls （n = 7）; Group B, acute pancreatitis induced by ductal injection with.5% sodium ch.late at a volume of 1.0 mL/kg with.ut any oth.r treatment; Group C, after th. pancreatitis was induced as in Group B, th. rats were injected intravenously with.5-FU 40 mg/kg. Th. animals in Groups B and C were killed at 2, 6 and 24 h.after operation （n = 7）, and blood samples were taken for measurement of tumor necrosis factor-α （TNF-α）, interleukin-1 （IL-1）, interleukin-6 （IL-6）（by bioassay）, and interleukin-10 （IL-10）, transforming growth.factor-β （TGF-β）（by ELISA）. Th. wet weigh. of pancreatic tissue, serum amylase levels and wh.te blood cells were also measured. RESULTS： Four rats in Group B and one in Group C died after pancreatitis was induced. Both.pro-inflammatory cytokines （TNF-α, IL-1, IL-6） at th. 2 and 6 h.period and th. anti-inflammatory cytokines （IL-10, TGF-β） at 24 h.increased significantly （P 〈 0.05） in rats of Group B. After treatment with.5-FU, TNF-α, IL-1, and IL-6 in serum of rats of Group C were inh.bited at 2 and 6 h.after operation （P 〈 0.05）, and IL-IO, TGF-13 were inh.bited at 24 h.compared to Group B （P 〈 0.05）. Obvious improvements in th. severity of th. acute pancreatitis, including th. amylase levels, wet weigh. of pancreatic tissue and neutroph.l counts, were also observed after treatment with.5-FU. CONCLUSION： 5-FU is an anti-metabolic and immunosuppressive agent wh.ch.can minimize th. abnormal immune o/tokine response and relieve th. path.ph.siological disorders associated with.experimental acute pancreatitis.

Differentiation of periapical granulomas and cysts by using dental MRI: a pilot study

Th. purpose of th.s pilot study was to evaluate wh.th.r periapical granulomas can be differentiated from periapical cysts in vivo by using dental magnetic resonance imaging(MRI). Prior to apicoectomy, 11 patients with.radiograph.cally confirmed periapical lesions underwent dental MRI, including fat-saturated T2-weigh.ed(T2 wFS) images, non-contrast-enh.nced T1-weigh.ed images with.and with.ut fat saturation(T1 w/T1 wFS), and contrast-enh.nced fat-saturated T1-weigh.ed(T1 wFS+C) images. Two independent observers performed structured image analysis of MRI datasets twice. A total of 15 diagnostic MRI criteria were evaluated, and h.stopath.logical results(6 granulomas and 5 cysts) were compared with.MRI ch.racteristics. Statistical analysis was performed using intraclass correlation coefficient(ICC), Coh.n’s kappa(κ), Mann–Wh.tney U-test and Fish.r’s exact test. Lesion identification and consecutive structured image analysis was possible on T2 wFS and T1 wFS+C MRI images. A h.gh.reproducibility was sh.wn for MRI measurements of th. maximum lesion diameter(intraobserver ICC = 0.996/0.998; interobserver ICC = 0.997), for th. "periph.ral rim" th.ckness(intraobserver ICC = 0.988/0.984; interobserver ICC = 0.970), and for all non-quantitative MRI criteria(intraobserver-κ = 0.990/0.995; interobserver-κ = 0.988). In accordance with.h.stopath.logical results, six MRI criteria allowed for a clear differentiation between cysts and granulomas:(1) outer margin of lesion,(2) texture of "periph.ral rim" in T1 wFS+C,(3)texture of "lesion center" in T2 wFS,(4) surrounding tissue involvement in T2 wFS,(5) surrounding tissue involvement in T1 wFS+C and(6) maximum "periph.ral rim" th.ckness(all: P h.s pilot study indicates th.t radiation-free dental MRI enables a reliable differentiation between periapical cysts and granulomas in vivo. Th.s, MRI may substantially improve treatment strategies and h.lp to avoid unnecessary surgery in apical periodontitis.

Background Eryth.ma nodosum can be associated with.a number of systemic diseases. Th.re is, h.wever, a paucity of information in th. pediatric literature on th.s condition. Th. purpose of th.s article is to familiarize pediatricians with.th. evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment of eryth.ma nodosum. Data sources A PubMed search.was completed in Clinical Queries using th. key terms 'eryth.ma nodosum'. Results Clinically, eryth.ma nodosum presents with.a sudden onset of painful, eryth.matous, subcutaneous nodules mainly localized to th. pretibial areas. Lesions are usually bilateral and symmetrical, ranging from 1 to 5 cm in diameter. Eryth.ma nodosum may be associated with.a variety of conditions such.as infection, medications, sarcoidosis, pregnancy, inflamma-tory bowel disease, vaccination, autoimmune disease, malignancy, and miscellaneous causes. Th. condition is idiopath.c in approximately 50% of cases. Th. diagnosis is mainly clinical with.biopsy reserved for atypical cases. To evaluate for th. underlying cause, some basic laboratory screening studies are worth.h.le in most cases and include a complete blood cell count, eryth.ocyte sedimentation rate and/or C-reactive protein, th.oat swab culture, antistreptococcal O titers, and a ch.st radiograph. Oth.r tests sh.uld be individualized, guided by th. h.story and ph.sical examination results. Most cases of ery-th.ma nodosum are self-limited and require no treatment. Bed rest and leg elevation are generally recommended to reduce th. discomfort. Nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs are th. first-line treatment for pain management. Conclusions As eryth.ma nodosum is often a cutaneous manifestation of a systemic disease, a th.rough.search.sh.uld be performed to reveal th. underlying cause.

Two coordination polymers, namely [Pb（h.tc）（ph.n）]n（1） and {[Cd3（btc）2（h.O）4]·2h.O}n（2, h.btc = biph.nyl-2,5,3＇-tricarboxylic acid, ph.n = 1,10-ph.nanth.oline）, were assembled. Single-crystal X-ray diffraction studies sh.w th.t compound 1 possesses a zigzag ch.in 1D coordination network, wh.ch.is furth.r extended into a 3D supramolecular arch.tecture via O–h.··O h.drogen bonds and π-π packing interactions. Compound 2 features a 3D open framework based on a tricadmium（II） subunit, generating a trinodal 4,4,6-connected net with.th. 4,4,6T24 topology defined by th. point symbol of（44·62）3（46·69）2. Th.rmal stability and luminescent properties of both.compounds were studied and discussed.

联合技术公司化学系统分公司（CSD）开展了一些新的研究工作,旨在对先进而廉价的多维碳碳发动机整体喉部和入口（ITE）进行评价。主要任务是确定6个2英寸外径的ITE在正常弹道条件(900磅/英寸2（绝对）平均压力23秒工作时间)下的工作能力。附带的目标是确定用于预估火箭发动机点火期何发动机喉部和入口的内部热响应的现有热化学模拟技术的精度。其方法是用植入式热电偶测得的数据和用热化学模型计算得到的数据进行比较。在进行静态试验的6个ITE中,有3个安装了12支钨铼热电偶,其中6支埋设在离预计的点火试验后的表面0.100英寸的深度中（以下称这种方式为“植入式”）,其余6支则粘贴在ITE的背面（以下称这种方式为“表面式”）。这3个ITE的纤维和/或结构形式都是互不相同的。用现行的计算机码来计算ITE的表面状态和材料内部的热响应。由于研究的目标是验证气动加热模型,所以,在热传导计算程序中,使用了点火试验后测得的烧蚀数据,而不用点火前预估的烧蚀数据,从而,消除了点火试验前弹道预估误差。从ITE坯件尾端试验（ITE billet tag end testing）取得了热性质数据,并在必须体现纤维体积比差异的地方,对数据进行调整。根据实测的试验数据,绘制了曲线,并和预计的数据作了对比,发现二者十分吻合。这种相关性表明气动加热模拟技术（其中包含了热传导和热性质方面的一些假定）是正确的。
