BACk.ROUND Cystic artery pseudoaneurysm is a condition rarely encountered by clinicians;this,its etiology and presentation as well as appropriate treatments are not well *** it is treated by removal of the diseased gallbladder and cystic artery,such surgery can be difficult and risk. if acute inflammation with bleeding occurs,and not every patient can tolerate the *** SUMMARy An 81-year-old man complained of epigastric pain and tarry stool passage that lasted for 3 *** had a medical history of poor cardiopulmonary *** computed tomographic scan of abdomen showed cystic artery pseudoaneurysm and dilatation of *** of high adverse outcomes related to general anesthesia,the patient was successfully managed with endovascular embolization for this cystic artery pseudoaneurysm and percutaneous drainage for the distended *** A patient with cystic artery pseudoaneurysm may quick.y deteriorate with the occurrence of concurrent arterial bleeding and *** report presents the case of a patient who did not undergo surgery due to multiple cardiopulmonary comorbidities and whose condition was managed successfully with embolization and biliary *** embolization and biliary drainage may provide an alternative option to manage this complicated condition.

The moving particle semi-implicit（MPS）method has demonstrated its usefulness in practical engineering *** it has wide applicability,it is still hard to predict the pressure precisely using the MPS method.A pressure-convection particle method based on the MPS method is proposed to overcome this *** improved performance of this new method is validated with computational and measured *** approach is also applied to compute the problem of sloshing associated with floating body motion in *** pressure-convection MPS method demonstrated its capability to improve the prediction of pressure.

Advances in controlled synthesis, processing, and tuning of the properties of organic conjugated polymers and perovsk.tes have enabled significantly enhanced performance of organic/hybrid electronic devices. Our laboratory employs a molecular engineering approach to develop processible and high charge carrier mobility polymers for enhancing power conversion efficiency of solar cells（PCE of ＞10% in single junction devices）. We have also developed several innovative strategies to modify the interface of planar heterojunction devices and create new device architectures to fully explore their potential for solar window applications. The performance of polymer/hybrid solar cells is strongly dependent on their efficiency in harvesting light, exciton dissociation, charge transport, and charge collection at the metal/organicperovsk.te/metal oxide interfaces. In this talk. the integrated approach of combining material design, interface, and device engineering to significantly improve the performance of polymer photovoltaic cells will be discussed. Specific emphasis will be placed on the low band-gap polymers development with low reorganizational energy and proper energy levels, optimized morphology of bulk.eterojunction layer, and minimized interfacial energy barriers with functional surfactants and graphene oxide. At the end, several new device architectures and processing strategies will be discussed to explore the full promise of polymer and perovsk.te solar cells.

A CASE OF MEGACOLON

Hospital No. 13480. A child of three, male, was admitted to our Hospital on November 21, 1932, with obstinate, constipation and abdominal distension since birth. After birth, meconium passed on the 3rd day after tak.ng a small dose of castor oil. Since then, the bowel only moved by tak.ng cathartics or by rectal suppositories. Defecation averaged once in two to four days. Abdominal distension was noticed at the age of two months. Had repeated vomiting and impairment of appetite during the period of costiveness, vomitus consisted of food. Had slight fever around 100°*** abdominal distension got better immediately when tire bowel moved. For the Fast year, cathartics became ineffective and only enemas seemed to do him any good. Had medical treatment for two months before admission to the Hospital but without much improvement.

Population aging has developed into a significant area of concern in developed countries, especially in relation to thepreservation of functional independence and the quality of life (QoL). However, information on the contribution ofsex differences in quality of life and cognitive function is scarce. Therefore, this study aimed to investigate potentialdifferences in cognitive function and QoL between males and females. For this study, we recruited 382 healthy subjectsaged 19–79 years from communities in Southern Taiwan region,China. Cognitive function and QoL were assessed using the UCSD Performance-based Sk.lls Assessment, Brief Version (UPSA-B) and World Health Organization Quality ofLife Instruments (WHOQOL-BREF), respectively. The effects of sex, age groups, and interaction of sex and ageon the UPSA-B and WHOQOL-BREF scores were examined. We found that the financial and communicationdomains of the UPSA-B showed declining trends with age in both sexes, although these trends were more obviousin females than in males. In the domain of Physical Capacity, QoL showed an age-increased trend in males, whileQoL in the Environment domain showed an age-increased trend in females. Regarding the relationships betweencognitive function and QoL, we found that the financial sk.ll and communication sk.ll of UPSA-B was positivelycorrelated to the psychological well-being domain of WHOQOL-BREF, in males of age years. In conclusion,our findings demonstrate differential relationships between cognitive function and QoL between males and females,which could serve as a basis for further study between cognitive function and quality of life in communities.

Spatial autocorrelation calculations of the nine malignant neoplasms in Taiwan in 2005-2009: a gender comparison study

Spatial analytical techniques and models are often used in epidemiology to identify spatial anomalies (hotspots) in disease regions. These analytical approaches can be used to identify not only the location of such hotspots, but also their spatial patterns. We used spatial autocorrelation methodologies, including Global Moran's I and Local Getis-Ord statistics, to describe and map spatial clusters and areas in which nine malignant neoplasms are situated in Taiwan. In addition, we used a logistic regression model to test the characteristics of similarity and dissimilarity between males and females and to formulate the common spatial risk. The mean found by local spatial autocorrelation analysis was used to identify spatial cluster patterns. We found a significant relationship between the leading malignant neoplasms and well-documented spatial risk.factors. For instance, in Taiwan, the geographic distribution of clusters where oral cavity cancer in males is prevalent was closely correspond to the locations in central Taiwan with serious metal pollution. In females, clusters of oral cavity cancer were closely related with aboriginal townships in eastern Taiwan, where cigarette smok.ng, alcohol drink.ng, and betel nut chewing are commonplace. The difference between males and females in the spatial distributions was stark. Furthermore, areas with a high morbidity of gastric cancer were clustered in aboriginal townships where the occurrence of Helicobacter pylori is frequent. Our results revealed a similarity between both males and females in spatial pattern. Cluster mapping clarified the spatial aspects of both internal and external correlations for the nine malignant neoplasms. In addition, using a method of logistic regression also enabled us to find differentiation between gender-specific spatial patterns.

Development of dynamic slip model for a shear crack

The objective of this paper is to develop a dynamic slip model for a shear crack.under constant stress drop. This crack.problem is formulated by a traction boundary integral equation （BIE） in the frequency domain and then solved by the hyper-singular boundary element method as well as the regularization technique proposed in this paper. Based on the spectral integral form of the k.rnel function, the unbounded term can be isolated and extracted from the hyper-singular k.rnel function by using the method of subtracted and added back.in wave number domain. Finally, based on the inverse transformation from the frequency domain to the time domain, the time histories of crack.opening displacement under constant stress drop can be determined. Three rupture models （simultaneous rupture model, symmetric bilaterally-propagating model and unilaterally propagating model） with specified time histories of stress drop are considered in this paper. Even though these three models will cause the same final slip shapes because of the same constant stress drop, the associated slip time functions differ significantly from each other during the rupture process.

Nomogram to predict permanent stoma in rectal cancer patients after sphincter-saving surgery

BACk.ROUND Approximately 20 percent of patients with a tumour localized in the low rectum still encounter the possibility of requiring permanent stoma(PS), which can cause drastic changes in lifestyle and physical *** To determine the risk.factors for PS and to develop a prediction model to predict the probability of PS in rectal cancer patients after sphincter-saving *** A retrospective cohort of 421 rectal cancer patients who underwent radical surgery at Taipei Medical University Hospital between January 2012 and December 2020 was included in this study. Univariate and multivariate analyses were performed to identify the independent risk.factors for PS. A nomogram was developed according to the independent risk.factors obtained in the multivariate analysis. The performance of the nomogram was assessed using a receiver operating characteristic curve and a calibration *** The PS rate after sphincter-saving surgery was 15.1%(59/391) in our study after a median follow-up of 47.3 mo(range 7–114 mo). Multivariate logistic regression analysis demonstrated that local recurrence, perirectal abscess, anastomosis site stenosis, perineural invasion, tumor size and operative time were independent risk.factors for PS. These identified risk.factors were incorporated into the nomogram, and the concordance index of this model was 0.903(95%CI: 0.851-0.955). According to the calibration curves, the nomogram represents a perfect prediction *** Several risk.factors for PS after sphincter-saving surgery were identified. Our nomogram exhibited perfect predictive ability and will improve a physician’s ability to communicate the benefits and risk. of various treatment options in shared decision mak.ng.

Rapid recovery of rare earth elements in industrial wastewater by CuFe_2O_4 synthesized from Cu sludge

This study systematically evaluates the recovery of rare earth elements（REEs） from aqueous solution and industrial wastewater using magnetic nanoparticles CuFe2O4. The industrially manufactured CuFe2O4 displays a nonlinear isotherm for REEs adsorption, suggesting limiting binding sites on the CuFe2O4 surface. The recovery of REEs increases significantly from 0.1% to 99.99% with increasing pH（2.29-8.15）. At room temperature, the maxima recovery rates of Nd, La, and Ce are observed to be in a high capacity of 51.02, 42.02, and 40.16 mg/g, respectively. No significant attenuation of REE adsorption is observed with increasing NaCl concentration from 0.001 to 1.0 mol/L, showing high selectivity of REEs even in such high NaCl concentration matrix. In addition, desorption efficiency increases with the increasing concentration of HNO3 in the range of 0.005-0.05 mol/L. When HNO3 concentration is over 0.05 mol/L, the desorption efficiency can reach almost 100% in each batch experiment. Importantly, our results show that REEs can be sorbed and recycled from liquid crystal display（LCD） polishing wastewater, suggesting that CuFe2O4 may be a good candidate in the efficient and rapid recovery of REEs from industrial wastewater.
