BACKGROUND Cholangiocarcinoma(CC)is a rare tumor that arises from the epithelium of the bile *** is classified according to anatomic location as intrahepatic,perihilar,and *** CC(ICC)is rare in patients with cirrhosis due to causes other than primary sclerosing *** hepatocellular carcinoma-CC(hCC-CC)is a rare neoplasm that shows histologic findings of both hCC and ICC within the same tumor *** to the difficulties in arriving at the correct diagnosis,patients eventually undergo liver transplantation(LT)with a presumptive diagnosis of hCC on imaging when,in fact,they have ICC or *** To evaluate the outcomes of patients with intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma or mixed hepatocellular-cholangiocarcinoma on pathological examination after liver *** Propensity score matching was used to analyze tumor recurrence(TR),overall mortality(OM),and recurrence-free survival(RFS)in LT recipients with pathologically confirmed ICC or hCC-CC matched 1:8 to those with ***-free survival and overall mortality rates were computed with the Kaplan-Meier method using Cox regression for *** Of 475 hCC LT recipients,1.7%had the diagnosis of ICC and 1.5%of hCC-CC on pathological examination of the *** recipients with ICC had higher TR(46%vs 11%;P=0.006),higher OM(63%vs 23%;P=0.002),and lower RFS(38%vs 89%;P=0.002)than those with hCC when matched for pretransplant tumor characteristics,as well as higher TR(46%vs 23%;P=0.083),higher OM(63%vs 35%;P=0.026),and lower RFS(38%vs 59%;P=0.037)when matched for posttransplant tumor *** pairings were performed to compare the outcomes of LT recipients with hCC-CC vs *** was no significant difference between the outcomes in either *** Patients with ICC had worse outcomes than patients undergoing LT for *** outcomes of patients with hCC-CC did not differ significantly from those of patients with hCC.

Increased salt sensitivity induced by sensory denervation: role of superoxide

AIM: To test the hypothesis that production of superoxide in mesenteric resistance arteries is increased and con- tributes to the development of hypertension induced by sensory denervation plus high salt intake. METhODS: Newborn Wistar rats were given capsaicin 50 mg/kg sc on the 1st and 2nd d of life. After weaning, male rats were grouped as follows and treated for 3 weeks with: capsaicin pretreatment plus normal sodium diet (0.5 %, CAP-NS), CAP plus high sodium diet (4 %, CAP-hS), control plus NS (CON-NS), or CON-hS. Both tail-cuff systolic blood pressure and mean arterial pressure (MAP) were measured in each of the groups. Western blot analysis was used for measurement of manganese superoxide dismutase (MnSOD) and endothelial nitric oxide synthase (eNOS) in the mesenteric resistance arteries. Lucigenin chemiluminescence assay was used for superoxide production in the mesenteric resistance arteries. The Griess method was used for measurement of nitrite/nitrate levels in plasma. RESULTS: Both tail-cuff pressure and MAP were higher in CAP-hS compared with CAP-NS, CON-hS, and CON- NS rats (Ph MnSOD and eNOS in the mesenteric resistance arteries were increased in CAP-hS compared with CAP-NS, CON-hS, and CON-NS (Phowever, nitrite/nitrate levels in plasma were not different among 4 groups. Acute iv administration of tempol, a membrane-permeable superoxide scavenger, de- creased MAP in both CAP-hS and CON-hS when compared with their respective controls. however, the de- creases of MAP between these two groups were not different. Chronic treatment with tempol failed to prevent the development of hypertension in CAP-hS rats. Superoxideproduction in the mesenteric resistance arteries was increased in CAP-hS compared with CAP-NS, CON-hS, and CON-NS (Phowever, chronic treatment with tempol did not prevent the increase of mesenteric superoxideproduction in CAP-hS rats. Computer-based Creativity Enhanced Conceptual Design Model for Non-routine Design of Mechanical Systems

Computer-based conceptual design for routine design has made great strides, yet non-routine design has not been given due attention, and it is still poorly automated. Considering that the function-behavior-structure（FBS） model is widely used for modeling the conceptual design process, a computer-based creativity enhanced conceptual design model（CECD） for non-routine design of mechanical systems is presented. In the model, the leaf functions in the FBS model are decomposed into and represented with fine-grain basic operation actions（BOA）, and the corresponding BOA set in the function domain is then constructed. Choosing building blocks from the database, and expressing their multiple functions with BOAs, the BOA set in the structure domain is formed. Through rule-based dynamic partition of the BOA set in the function domain, many variants of regenerated functional schemes are generated. For enhancing the capability to introduce new design variables into the conceptual design process, and dig out more innovative physical structure schemes, the indirect function-structure matching strategy based on reconstructing the combined structure schemes is adopted. By adjusting the tightness of the partition rules and the granularity of the divided BOA subsets, and making full use of the main function and secondary functions of each basic structure in the process of reconstructing of the physical structures, new design variables and variants are introduced into the physical structure scheme reconstructing process, and a great number of simpler physical structure schemes to accomplish the overall function organically are figured out. The creativity enhanced conceptual design model presented has a dominant capability in introducing new deign variables in function domain and digging out simpler physical structures to accomplish the overall function, therefore it can be utilized to solve non-routine conceptual design problem.

Dynamic stress concentration in an infinitely long cylindrical cavity due to a point spherical source embedded within a fluid-saturated poroelastic formation of infinite extent

The effects of a harmonically exciting monopole source on an infinitely long cylindrical cavity embedded entirely within a fluid-saturated poroelastic formation of infinite extent are examined theoretically. It is assumed that the source is located outside the cavity at a specified distance from the borehole axis. The magnitudes of the hoop and radial stresses beside the pore pressures exerted on the interface and inside the porous medium surrounding the borehole are calculated and discussed. Biot's poroelastic modeling along with three types of boundary conditions for the cylindrical interface including the ideal fluid, empty borehole, and rigid inclusion with a hard boundary is employed for the analysis. Utilizing a proper translational addition theorem for expressing the incident spherical wave in terms of cylindrical wave expansions, the proposed boundary conditions at the interface are satisfied. Stresses are formulated by means of wave potential functions in a three-dimensional(3D) manner. The effects of the frequency and the radial distance between the source and borehole on the induced stresses are examined for the first cylindrical modes over frequency spectra. Two permeability conditions for the interface and three types of soils for the porous formation are considered throughout the analysis. To give an overall outline of the study, a numerical example is presented. The results clearly indicate that the distance is a key parameter and has considerable effects on the induced stress values. In addition, the interface permeability condition and soil characteristics play an important role in determining the dynamic response of the borehole. Finally,the obtained results are compared with the relevant analyses existing in the literature for some limit cases, and good agreement is achieved.

A PLS blockchain for IoT applications:protocols and architecture

Indexing structures for the PLS blockchain

This paper studies known indexing structures from a new point of view:minimisation of data exchange between an IoT device acting as a blockchain client and the blockchain server running a protocol suite that includes two Guy Fawkes protocols,PLS and *** PLS blockchain is not a cryptocurrency instrument;it is an immutable ledger offering guaranteed non-repudiation to low-power clients without use of public key *** novelty of the situation is in the fact that every PLS client has to obtain a proof of absence in all blocks of the chain to which its counterparty does not contribute,and we show that it is possible without traversing the block’s Merkle *** obtain weight statistics of a leaf path on a sparse Merkle tree theoretically,as our ground *** the theory we quantify the communication cost of a client interacting with the *** show that large savings can be achieved by providing a bitmap index of the tree compressed using Tunstall’s *** further show that even in the case of correlated access,as in two IoT devices posting messages for each other in consecutive blocks,it is possible to prevent compression degradation by re-randomising the IDs using a pseudorandom bijective *** propose a low-cost function of this kind and evaluate its quality by simulation,using the avalanche criterion.
