Italy is significantly affected by ever-present flood and landslide risks and has experienced many disasters. Local social awareness and engagement, however,differ and need to be increased by decision makers and citizens through improvements in risk preparedness. With this aim, the #italiasicura web platform was developed by Fondazione Politecnico di Milano and released in 2015 to show country to local level hazard maps and risk reduction projects in Italy. Any stage of the user experience with the platform can be shared via social media. Using this tool, an awareness-oriented web analytics process was structured to develop a set of indicators for the increase of knowledge linked to flood and landslide hazards. In so doing, it is possible to measure community disaster awareness actions and competence in the area of hazard knowledge. This article presents the results obtained by using data from the platform.

Energy geostructures(EGs)employ heat exchangers embedded in concrete geostructures,such as piles,walls,tunnels,and *** this study,energy walls(EWs)are studied with an emphasis on the following objectives:(1)to understand the fundamentals of hydrothermal interactions acting in the vicinity of EWs caused by groundwater seepage in saturated soil;(2)to highlight hydraulically induced thermal effects and their consequences on the thermal performance of *** three-dimensional hydrothermal finite element analyses are performed considering two groundwater flow conditions:perpendicular and parallel to the *** thermal activation of the geostructure locally modifies the flownet with respect to the non-isothermal case because of the temperature dependency of the water *** interactions between seepage directions and thermal activation are *** thermal interactions are detected within the heat *** thermal behavior of EGs is highly affected by an incorrect evaluation of the hydraulically induced thermal effects,which may result in an overestimation of the thermal ***,an efficient thermal design,which considers such interactions,may increase the thermal potential of EGs.

Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) develops in the context of environmental risk factors like chronic viral hepatitis, diabetes and alcohol exposure, often associated to an increased risk of cirrhosis. Antiviral treatments that are effective to counteract hepatitis B and C may also attenuate the risk of tumor development. However, since hepatitis B-related carcinogenesis is promoted independently of the onset of cirrhosis, such antiviral treatments as nucleo(t)side analogs can promote regression of cirrhosis, prevent clinical decompensation and variceal bleeding but not HCC. This means that in successfully treated patients with cirrhosis, HCC is often the consequence of their extended survival. In hepatitis C patients, a sustained virological response to interferon-based therapies can reduce the rate of HCC development, even in patients with cirrhosis who experience histological regression of their liver disease. Future therapies aimed at this endpoint in at risk populations should take into consideration pretreatment patient stratification for host, viral and environmental risk factors. In this context the recent discovery of single nucleotide polymorphisms involved in the immune system function and tumorigenesis, might permit enrollment of populations of patients enriched with HCC risk factors for targeted chemopreventive therapies. This could finally pave the way to personalized algorithms, as already seen in the diagnosis and treatment schemes for chemoprevention.

According to its etymology,the English word“liver”is related to the verb“to live”,and indeed there are few domains of oncology research as lively as liver *** therapeutic landscape of hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC)has been rapidly changing over the last years,after the successful introduction of immune checkpoint inhibitors(ICIs)as standard of care for the treatment of unresectable or metastatic HCC(uHCC).Following more than a decade of tyrosine kinase inhibitors(TKIs)as the only available treatment for advanced HCC,in 2020 the results of the IMbrave150 trial radically changed the therapeutic algorithm(1,2).The combination of the anti-programmed death ligand 1(PD-L1)monoclonal antibody(mAb)atezolizumab and the anti-vascular endothelial growth factor(VEGF)mAb bevacizumab outperformed sorafenib in terms of overall survival(OS)and progression-free survival(PFS),meeting both its co-primary *** combination has been recognised as the new first-line standard of care by all major scientific societies,and it has been approved by regulatory agencies worldwide(3).

The determination of grain size distribution in alluvial channels plays a crucial role in understanding fluvial dynamics and processes(e.g.,hydraulic resistance,sediment transport and erosion,and habitat suitability).However,to determine an accurate distribution,tremendous field efforts are often ***,the grain size distribution of channel beds have been obtained by manually counting a set of randomly selected stones(the "pebble count").Based on this elementary principle,many authors have proposed different adaptations to overcome weaknesses and problems with the original method;with the development of digital technology,photographic methods have been developed in order to significantly reduce the time spent in the *** of these "image-assisted" methods include Automated Grain Sizing,ACS,and Manual Photo Sieving,*** this study,AGS and MPS were applied under ideal laboratory conditions,to be used as reference,and in two field conditions with different degrees of difficulty in terms of visual determination of the grain size distribution;these included an artificial unlined channel and two natural mountainous *** results were compared with those obtained with the pebble-count *** general,strong agreement between the methods was found when they were applied under favorable conditions( "the laboratory"),and the differences between the imageassisted and pebble count methods were similar to those found in previous *** being more time consuming,MPS was deemed preferable to AGS when conditions are not optimal;in these cases,the time spent on image elaboration significantly increased in the AGS method(approximately three-fold),but the estimation error of the median grain size decreased by approximately 37%.The use of imageassisted analysis has proven to be robust for characterizing sediment in watercourse beds and reducing fieldwork time,but because field conditions can significantly affect the accuracy of results,the method

Slug catcher is an important and costly equipment in the up-stream assets,but is the less supported by research or commercial simulation software in terms of design and sizing *** purpose of this paper is to present a simulation model based on the open-source software for computational fluid-dynamics OpenFOAM®,which can assist during the preliminary sizing,made by the usual simplified methods,proving the fluid-dynamic behaviour and drive the process engineers to an optimum final design by checking all the expected production profiles of the related oil/gas field,for a comprehensive and safe operation all along the reservoir *** slug catcher main function is to ensure the separation of the phases within the acceptance specifications dictated by the process units of downstream CPF(Central Production Facility).The optimization of the slug catcher could allow the reduction of the equipment overall dimensions,that is essential to reduce the capital expenditure and make the installation more *** graphic output is a strong tool in the hand of engineers,following the fluid-dynamic response of the slug catcher in the gas-liquid separation section,in function of the flow pattern at the entrance and superficial velocities of the phases.

The uncertainty principle is a crucial aspect of quantum *** has been shown that quantum entanglement as well as more general notions of correlations,such as quantum discord,can relax or tighten the entropic uncertainty relation in the presence of an ancillary *** explored the behaviour of entropic uncertainty relations for system of two qubits—one of which subjects to several forms of independent quantum noise,in both Markovian and non-Markovian *** uncertainties and their lower bounds,identified by the entropic uncertainty relations,increase under independent local unital Markovian noisy channels,but they may decrease under non-unital *** behaviour of the uncertainties(and lower bounds)exhibit periodical oscillations due to correlation dynamics under independent non-Markovian *** addition,we compare different entropic uncertainty relations in several special cases and find that discord-tightened entropic uncertainty relations offer in general a better estimate of the uncertainties in play.

Regulatory T cells （Tregs） comprise a subset of CD4＋ T lymphocytes that holds promise as immunotherapy for inflammat- ory disease states including autoimmune disorders, solid organ allograft rejection, graft-versus-host disease, and acute inflam- matory conditions. However, limited availability of Treg numbers restricts their usefulness in cell transfer applications, particularly as patients may need multiple infusions for chronic diseases.

The growth of Nb thin films on Si（100） substrates by different laser fluences （4-15 J/cm2） was reported, The pulsed Nd：YAG laser deposition （PLD） under influence of laser fluence on ablation rate and deposition rate was discussed. X-ray diffraction （XRD） investigations of the deposited films showed an amorphous structure. The droplet density on the film surface observed by scanning electron microscopy （SEM） analyses was extremely low. It was experimentally proved that the droplets on the film surface originated from liquid phase on the target surface, Profilometric measurements of the deposited Nb films revealed a substantial asymmetry in the film thickness related to the plume deflection effect. The measured electrical resistivity of the Nb film was higher than that of high purity Nb bulk. The present investigations of ablation and deposition process of Nb thin films are related to its potential application in superconducting radio-frequency （SRF） cavities.
