Background： The health of chickens and the welfare of poultry industry are central to the efforts of addressing global food security. Therefore, it is essential to study chicken immunology to maintain and improve its health and to find novel and sustainable solutions. This paper presents a study on investigation of the effect of Scutellaria baicalensis root（SBR） on the immune response of broiler chicken, especially on lymphocytes and heterophils reactivity, regarding their contribution to the development of immunity of the ***： The 121-day-old Hubbard Hi-Y male broiler hybrids were randomly assigned to four treatment groups,three SBR supplemented groups（0.5, 1.0, and 1.5% of SBR） and one control group. Each treatment was replicated five times with six birds per replicate pen in a battery brooder. Blood was collected after 3-（rd） and 6-（th）wk of the experiment, and hemoglobin and hematocrit values were determined, as well as total leukocyte count and differential count were performed. Analyses of maximum-speed path definition at single-lane roundabouts

The process of designing roundabouts is an iterative process through which, in several checks, the design elements of a roundabout get optimized. Existing regulations for roundabouts involve swept path analyses, sight distance analyses and speed analyses of vehicles passing through the roundabout. Speed analyses are done mostly based on two models, Dutch and American. Each of these two models, in their own way takes into account design elements of the roundabouts, and the US model also envisions the construction of vehicle paths through the roundabout. Main assumption of both models is that vehicle paths through roundabouts consist of few connected radii. US models for path definition takes into account safety distances from marked lines and geometric elements（curbs） at the entrance and exit and through roundabout. Experimentally determined elements of the vehicle path through the roundabout, do not correspond to those recommendations. Comparison of the measured speed at the roundabouts and speed calculated according to aforementioned models at several roundabouts in Croatia, showed a significant difference. An experimental research was conducted as a first step in developing a new model for operating speed through roundabouts. The research aimed to define the basic path elements of vehicle movement in the roundabout at which the maximum speed is achieved. Results of the study are presented in this paper.

Establishment of Rhodiola quadrifida Hairy Roots and Callus Culture to Produce Bioactive Compounds

Rhodiola quadrifida is a rare mountain medicinal plant whose root extracts are used in traditional Chinese medicine as a hemostatic,antitussive,and tonic in the treatment of gynecological *** aim of the study was to obtain *** cultures at different degrees of differentiation in vitro and compare their growth characteristics and the content of salidroside and *** roots were obtained by incubating cotyledons and hypocotyls in a suspension of Agrobacterium rhizogenes strain *** presence of the rolB and rolC genes was proven by polymerase chain *** obtained roots were cultivated in Murashige-Skoog medium(MS).Calluses were obtained from the hairy roots in MS medium with the addition of hormones:3 mg/L 2,4 D and 0.5 mg/L *** presence of the main secondary metabolites of ***,salidroside and rosavin,in calluses and salidroside in hairy roots by HPLC/MS was *** content of salidroside in callus culture was significantly higher than in hairy roots,0.158 and 0.047%,*** content of rosavin in callus culture was 0.07%.The content of rosavin and salidroside in callus culture was close to the level of these substances in the rhizomes of *** plants growing in vivo,making this culture promising for its possible biotechnological use.

BACKGROUND Post-transplant lymphoproliferative disease(PTLD)is a heterogeneous group of diseases that develop after solid organ and hematopoietic stem cells transplantation related to intensive immunosuppression regimen,T-cell depletion and Epstein-Barr virus *** the improvement in the management of PTLD,the prognosis remains *** we report the management of two transplanted patients with PTLD and infections during immunochemotherapy(ICTH).CASE SUMMARY Of 65-year-old woman 11 years after kidney transplantation(first case)presented with diffuse large B-cell lymphoma(DLBCL)CS III and started ICHT according to R-CHOP *** the secondary prevention of neutropenic fever,the patient developed grade 4 neutropenia with urinary and pulmonary tract infections after the fifth *** was continued in reduced doses up to 7 cycles followed by involved-field radiation therapy of the residual *** second case presents a 49-year-old man,8 years after liver transplantation due to cirrhosis in the course of chronic hepatitis B,who started ICTH for DLBCL Burkitt-like CS *** patient received four cycles of ICTH according to RCODOX/R-IVAC protocol,with reduced *** both cases initially undertaken reduction of immunosuppression was ineffective to prevent infectious *** one incomplete ICHT treatment due to recurrent infections,both our patients remain in complete *** Reduction of immunosuppression and the doses of chemotherapeutics may be insufficient to prevent infectious complications during ICTH in PTLD patients.

Non-albicans candidemia in cancer patients as an increasing health problem:A comprehensive review and meta-analysis

Objective:To evaluate the prevalence of Candida species in cancer patients with candidemia around the world,and to identify related risk factors and their antifungal resistance,with an emphasis on non-albicans Candida species(NACs).Methods:The published papers related to the subject were systematically searched in databases of MEDLINE(including PubMed),Web of Science,Scopus,Science Direct,and Google Scholar between the 1st January 2000 and 21st April ***:Among the 4546 records,69 studies met the inclusion *** pooled prevalence of NACs in cancer patients with candidemia was 62%(95%CI 58%-67%;I2=94.85%,P=0.00).Based on type of cancer,the pooled prevalence of NACs in hematologic and solid cancer patients were 68%(95%CI 65%-70%)and 52%(95%CI 49%-54%),*** NACs,Candida(C.)parapsilosis was the most frequently isolated organism followed by *** and *** addition,the therapeutic usage of antibiotics was found as the most common risk factor,accounting for 85%(95%CI 81%-89%)and central venous catheter accounting for 69%(95%CI 62%-77%).Conclusions:The incidence of Candida bloodstream infections among cancer patients is a growing concern,especially when the etiologic agents of candidemia tend to shift towards NACs.

Management of vascular complications following calcium hydroxylapatite filler injections:a systemic review of cases and experimental studies

Gender Differences in Pulmonary Inflammation Following Systemic Cadmium Administration in Rats

Objective To examine the presence of gender differences in pulmonary inflammation evoked by acute systemic cadmium administration in rats. Methods Presence of basic indicators of lung inflammation （inflammatory cytokine lung content, leukocyte infiltration and activity of cells recovered from lungs by enzyme digestion） was analyzed and compared in animals of the two sexes. Results Intraperitoneal administration of cadmium （1.0 mg/kg） resulted in higher cadmium content in lungs of female rats. Higher tumor necrosis factor （TNF） content was noted in lung homogenates of male rats, while interleukin-6 （IL-6） content was slightly, but signifaicantly greater in lungs of female rats. Increased leukocyte infiltration was observed in lungs of male rats, mainly due to neutrophils. Increased responsiveness to phorbol myristate acetate （PMA） stimulation was noted in cells recovered from lungs of male rats. Rise in intracellular content of myeloperoxidase （MPO） was noted in lung cells from cadmium-treated rats of both sexes, but higher in cells from male rats. Conclusion Presented data documented a more intense pulmonary inflammatory response to systemic cadmium administration in males, with higher IL-6 levels in lungs of female individuals. These sex differences in proinflamatory activity of cadmium in lungs should be taken into consideration in studying the remote toxicity of this heavy metal.

Local Proinflammatory Effects of Repeated Skin Exposure to Warfarin, An Anticoagulant Rodenticide in Rats

Objective： To evaluate the effects of epicutaneous application of anticoagulant warfarin, by examining the presence of tissue injury and immune/inflammatory activity in exposed skin. Methods： Rats were exposed to warfarin by applying 10 μg of warfarin‐sodium to 10‐12 cm 2 skin （range 0.8‐1 μg per 1 cm 2 ） for 3 consecutive days. Tissue injury was evaluated by lipid peroxidation, histomorphological changes and signs of reparative activity in skin. T cell infiltration and selected aspects of epidermal cell activity were examined as indicators of immune/inflammatory skin response to warfarin application. Results： Repeated warfarin application exerted no effect on skin metabolic viability, but resulted in tissue injury （increased malondialdehyde, MDA, production, evident histo‐morphological changes in epidermis and dermis depicting cell injury and death）. Increased numbers of proliferating cell nuclear antigen （PCNA ＋） cells indicated reparative processes in injured skin. Infiltration of CD3 ＋ cells （T lymphocytes） along with the increased production of tumor necrosis factor‐α （TNF‐α） by epidermal cells from warfarin‐treated skin and their co‐stimulatory effect in an in vitro T‐cell activation assay demonstrated immunomodulatory effects of epicutaneous warfarin. Conclusion： Presented data have documented tissue damage associated with immune/ inflammatory activity in skin exposed to warfarin. Observed effects are relevant to immunotoxic potential of this anticoagulant in settings of external exposure.

Objective To investigate involvement of the aryl hydrocarbon receptor(Ah R)in the immunomodulatory effects of cadmium(Cd).Methods The effect of Cd on Ah R activation(CYP1 A1 and CYP1 B1 m RNA expression)was examined in lung leukocytes of Cd-exposed rats(5 and 50 mg/L,30 d orally)and by in vitro leukocyte *** involvement of Ah R signaling in the effects of Cd on the interleukin(IL)-1β,IL-6,and tumor necrosis factor(TNF)lung leukocyte response was investigated in vitro using the receptor antagonist *** Cd increased CYP1 B1(in vivo and in vitro)and CYP1 A1(in vitro)m RNA,indicating Ah R involvement in the action of *** response to Cd,lung leukocytes increased IL-6 and decreased TNF at the gene expression and protein levels,but decreased IL-1βproduction due to reduced *** Ah R antagonist CH-223191 abrogated the observed effects of Cd on the cytokine *** absence of Ah R reactivity and cytokine response to Cd of leukocytes from the lungs of a rat strain that is less sensitive to Cd toxicity coincided with a high Ah R repressor m RNA *** Ah R signaling is involved in the lung leukocyte proinflammatory cytokine response to *** relevance of the Ah R to the cytokine response to Cd provides new insight into the mechanisms of Cd immunotoxicity.
