Human pluripotent stem cells(h PSCs) represent heterogeneous populations, including induced pluripotent stem cells(i PSCs), endogenous plastic somatic cells, and embryonic stem cells(ESCs). Human ESCs are derived from the inner cell mass of the blastocyst, and they are characterized by the abilities to self-renew indefinitely, and to give rise to all cell types of embryonic lineage(pluripotency) under the guidance of the appropriate chemical, mechanical and environmental cues. The combination of these critical features is unique to h ESCs, and set them apart from other human cells. The expectations are high to utilize h ESCs for treating injuries and degenerative diseases; for modeling of complex illnesses and development; for screening and testing of pharmacological products; and for examining toxicity, mutagenicity, teratogenicity, and potential carcinogenic effects of a variety of environmental factors, including ionizing radiation(IR). Exposures to genotoxic stresses, such as background IR, are unavoidable; moreover, IR is widely used in diagnostic and therapeutic procedures in medicine on a routine basis. One of the key outcomes of cell exposures to IR is the change in gene expression, which may underlie the ultimate h ESCs fate after such a stress. However, gaps in our knowledge about basic biology of h ESCs impose a serious limitation to fully realize the potential of h ESCs in practice. The purpose of this review is to examine the available evidence of alterations in gene expression in human pluripotent stem cells after genotoxic stress, and to discuss strategies for future research in this important area.

The present work provides a brief analysis of experimental investigations related to quantum computer creation. The first step to the real quantum creation could be visualization of Shor states. Such visualization is based on the use of the phenomenon of the secondary wave generated by incident electromagnetic irradiation on the object which undergoes screening. This electromagnetic irradiation under certain conditions can be transformed into waves of other type, for example, surface plazmons. The massif from n quantum objects generating secondary irradiation, in principle, can be considered as a route to materialization on Shor cells. In such a way, a system of q-bites of quantum computer can be realized.

The therapeutic promise of small interfering RNAs （siRNAs） for specific gene silencing is dependent on the successful delivery of functional siRNAs to the cytoplasm. Their conjugation to an established delivery platform, such as gold nanoparticles, offers tremendous potential for treating diseases and advancing our understanding of cellular processes. Their success or failure is dependent on both the uptake of the nanoparticles into the cells and subsequent intracellular release of the functional siRNA. In this study, utilizing gold nanoparticle siRNA-mediated delivery against C-MYC, we aimed to determine if we could achieve knockdown in a cancer cell line with low levels of intracellular glutathione, and determine the influence, if any, of polyethylene glycol （PEG） ligand density on knockdown, with a view to determining the optimal nanoparticle design to achieve C-MYC knockdown. We demonstrate that, regardless of the PEG density, knockdown in cells with relatively low glutathione levels can be achieved, as well as the possible effect of steric hindrance of PEG on the availability of the siRNA for cleavage in the intracellular environment. Gold nanoparticle uptake was demonstrated via transmission electron microscopy and mass spectroscopy, while knockdown was determined at the protein and physiological levels （cells in S-phase） by in-cell westerns and BrdU incorporation, respectively.

During the last years, we have developed the FLOPER platform for providing a practical support to the so-called Multi-Adjoint Logic Programming approach (MALP in brief), which represents an extremely flexible framework into the Fuzzy Logic Programming arena. Nowadays, FLOPER is useful for compiling (to standard Prolog code), executing and debugging (by drawing execution trees) MALP programs, and it is ready for being extended in the near future with powerful transformation and optimization techniques designed in our research group during the recent past. Our last update consists in the integration of a graphical interface for a comfortable interaction with the system which allows, among other capabilities, the use of projects for packing scripts and auxiliary definitions of fuzzy sets/connectives, together with fuzzy programs and their associated lattices modeling truth-degrees beyond the simpler crisp case ﹛true;false﹜.

The microstructures of 304 stainless steel chips created by plane strain machining at ambient temperature have been analyzed using scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and the crystallite size of the ultrafine chips were analyzed using X-Ray Diffraction Analysis. The strain imposed in the chips was varied by changing the tool rake angle. An attempt is made in the present investigation to correlate the plastic strain, strain rate with the grain size of the stainless steel.

The identification and classification of pathological voice are still a challenging area of research in speech processing. Acoustic features of speech are used mainly to discriminate normal voices from pathological voices. This paper explores and compares various classification models to find the ability of acoustic parameters in differentiating normal voices from pathological voices. An attempt is made to analyze and to discriminate pathological voice from normal voice in children using different classification methods. The classification of pathological voice from normal voice is implemented using Support vector Machine (SvM) and Radial Basis Functional Neural Network (RBFNN). The normal and pathological voices of children are used to train and test the classifiers. A dataset is constructed by recording speech utterances of a set of Tamil phrases. The speech signal is then analyzed in order to extract the acoustic parameters such as the Signal Energy, pitch, formant frequencies, Mean Square Residual signal, Reflection coefficients, Jitter and Shimmer. In this study various acoustic features are combined to form a feature set, so as to detect voice disorders in children based on which further treatments can be prescribed by a pathologist. Hence, a successful pathological voice classification will enable an automatic non-invasive device to diagnose and analyze the voice of the patient.

This article describes metrics in order to quantify landscape structure. Landscape metrics are offered and designed to be as versatile as possible using several programs. In this paper it is attempted to （a） collect all the metrics found in the literature, （b） classify them, and （c） evaluate them through their use. An extensive investigation of the literature has been performed. Small discussion of each metric is provided to its concept, definition, use, way of calculation and in some cases contribution to the sustainable development. The frequency of used papers per each index has been taken into account. The most used to the least used six metrics have the following order： Area/Density/Edge; Isolation Proximity; Diversity; Contagion Interspersion; Shape; Connectivity. Moreover, the frequency of used papers is divided into five groups, i.e. group A till group E. Concluding, it has been provided an explanation of the results regarding to the four indices of group A and two indices from the group B.
