From"planning in section"to"semiduplex":The New Humanism and the alternate-corridor technique

Most of the pretending innovative modern housing projects show a common element that can be perceived when looking at the cross-section,evidencing the use of alternate corridors,which was recognized as a projective technique under Wells Coates expression"Planning in Section".Contrasting virtues concerning the resulting space were observed at different historical *** late 19th Century used it to create *** modern architecture used it to increase efficiency,where flexibility was ***,during the’60s,the alternative corridor technique started to be used to attend social issues,popularizing the split-level term,and echoing 19th Century privacy *** like Smithson’s"doorstep"and Candilis"semi-duplex"section reveal their ***-differentiated areas(public/intimate/col-lective)and socially controlled areas were obtained in domestic interiors with a few steps,creating singular spaces where children can play while being monitored by ***-duplex geometry showed new adaptability to different profiles:a small kitchenless apartment for a bachelor could be inserted aside from a larger two-level family *** paper shows an overview of this projective technique by contrasting different housing *** similar split-level geometries seem to have been coming back recently,questions about it are necessary.

＂Takeaway＂ drug delivery： A new nanomedical paradigm

An alternative model to the well-established paradigm of the externally switchable drug delivery systems is herein proposed. In contrast to the on--off archetype, here the amount of released drug is pre-set by the application of an external stimulus, and is gradually released after the withdrawal of the exogenous signal. These attributes are achieved through an innovative approach featuring the integration of plasmonic nanovehicles in a polymer-based film. Such a platform is provided with optically responsive capabilities together with multiple diffusional barriers, allowing for an ＂on-demand＂ time-limited release where light acts as a therapeutic ＂starting shot＂. These nanoarchitectured depots have great potential as implantable drug delivery systems in clinical scenarios where a recurrent, sustained, and yet, on--off administration of medication is required. The application of these hybrid materials may extend the implementation of nanomedicine strategies beyond the point-of-care setting.

Thermal Behaviour in Buildings with Green Covers Combined with Natural Ventilation, Green Facades and Green Roofs

The main aim of this paper was to study the influence of ventilation during a typical experimental day, in the internal air temperature as well as in internal surface temperatures under the conditions of the outer environment, using an experimental method which allows a comparison of the thermal performance between four cell tests： a prototype called control （no vegetation） and three with different combinations of vegetation （roofs and facades） installed in a region of tropical climate. The experiments were developed in four test cells with dimensions 2.0 m × 2.50 m × 2.7 m. Measurements of internal surface temperatures and internal air temperatures were collected with the use of specific equipment, a data logger （CR1000, Campbell Scientific Inc.）, connected with two multiplexers 32 channels （416AM Campbell Scientific Inc.）. Data were recorded over a year and a typical heat day was selected, which was September 24, 2015. The results show that ventilation affects the internal temperature of the air, so that this gets even surpass the external temperature. Regarding surface temperatures, increased temperature, except those which are provided with vegetation, namely, the surfaces which have green walls and green roofs file the lower temperatures. Therefore, we can confirm the ability of vegetation to maintain more pleasant internal conditions compared to the test cells built with conventional materials, thus it can reduce cooling load efficiency.
