Supplementation of different fat sources affects growth performance and carcass composition of finishing pigs

Background: There are various fat sources with different energy values and fatty acid compositions that may affect growth performance and carcass composition of grow-finishing pigs. A higher net energy was recently reported in choice white grease compared with soybean oil. Therefore, two experiments were conducted to determine whether practical responses confirm that difference between choice white grease and soybean oil, and to extend the observations to other fat ***: In Exp. 1, pigs fed fats had lower(P ge daily feed intake in phase II and overall period,greater(P gain:feed in phase I, phase II, and overall period than pigs fed the control diet. Pigs fed fats tended(P = 0.057) to have thicker backfat depth at the last rib than those fed control. Pigs fed 6% fats had greater(P gain:feed in phase II and overall period than pigs fed 3% fats. During phase I, pigs fed choice white grease grew faster(P gs fed soybean oil. In Exp. 2, pigs fed dietary fats(soybean oil, choice white grease, animal-vegetable blend, palm oil, or tallow) had greater(P gain:feed in each phase and overall period, greater(P ge daily gain in phase I, but lower(P ge daily feed intake in phase II an overall than pigs fed the control diets. The choice white grease also increased(P ge daily gain during phase I compared with soybean oil. Pigs fed palm oil had thicker(P getable blend, or ***: Inclusion of 6% dietary fat improved feed efficiency of finishing pigs, while different fats produced different practical results that may be consistent with their different energy values. Results from the early stage indicate that dietary fats with relatively more saturated fatty acids may provide greater energy than those with relatively more unsaturated fatty acids for growing pigs.

Pacman Renormalization in Siegel Parameters of Bounded Type

A novel method of renormalization called Pacman renormalization allows us to study (unicritical) Siegel functions through Pacman-type functions. It has been used to investigate the Siegel parameters with combinatorially periodic rotation number in the main cardioid of the Mandelbrot set. It is already known that it can be defined a Pacman renormalization operator such that for Siegel pacmen, with combinatorially periodic rotation numbers, the operator is compact, analytic and has a unique fixed point, at which it is hyperbolic with one-dimensional unstable manifold. In this paper we observe that this Pacman renormalization operator is compact and analytic at any Siegel Pacman or Siegel map with combinatorially bounded rotation number. This allows us to define a renormalization operator on the hybrid classes of the standard Siegel pacmen to which we built its horseshoe where the operator is topologically semiconjugated to the left shift on the space of bi-infinite sequences of natural numbers bounded by some constant.

Effects of feeding yeast(Saccharomyces cerevisiae), organic selenium and chromium mixed on growth performance and carcass traits of hair lambs

Yeasts and organic minerals are used in diets to improve health, productive performance and some carcass characteristics of ruminants and non-ruminants. Thirty-two lambs（Pelibuey×Katahdin; BW=（30.55±1.67） kg; n=8） were used in a 56-d feeding experiment to study the effects of different levels of live yeast（Saccharomyces cerevisiae; yeast）, selenium（Se） and chromium（Cr） mixed（Se-Cr）, and a mixture of yeast-Se-Cr on growth performance and carcass traits. Animals were stratified by body weight（BW） and randomly assigned to one of four treatments： 1） control group（0.0 g kg–1 yeast）; 2） yeast（1.50 g kg–1 dry matter intake（DMI） d–1）; 3） Se-Cr premix（1.5 mg kg–1 DMI d–1 for each mineral）; and 4） yeast-Se-Cr mixture. There were no treatment effects on final BW; whereas lambs fed Se-Cr or yeast-Se-Cr had higher（P〈0.05） DMI than animals supplemented with only yeast. Average daily gain（ADg）, gain：feed ratio, chop area, dorsal fat and carcass yield were similar（P〉0.05） among treatment groups. In conclusion, supplementation with yeast, Se-Cr mixed or yeast-Se-Cr did not improve ADg, final BW, back fat content and carcass yield of growing of Pelibuey×Katahdin lambs. Supplementation with Se-Cr and yeast-Se-Cr increased DMI, and approximately 250 g ADg animal–1 d–1 was produced with no negative effects on growth and health of the animals.

Pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma(PDAC) is a worldwide public health concern. Despite extensive research efforts toward improving diagnosis and treatment, the 5-year survival rate at best is approximately 15%. This dismal figure can be attributed to a variety of factors including lack of adequate screening methods, late symptom onset, and treatment resistance. Pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma remains a grim diagnosis with a high mortality rate and a significant psychological burden for patients and their families. In recent years artificial intelligence(AI) has permeated the medical field at an accelerated pace, bringing potential new tools that carry the promise of improving diagnosis and treatment of a variety of diseases. In this review we will summarize the landscape of AI in diagnosis and treatment of PDAC.

The development of a new generation of nonantibody protein drug delivery systems requires site-directed conjugation strategies to produce homogeneous,reproducible and scalable *** that,the genetic addition of cysteine residues into solvent-exposed positions allows the thiol-mediated cysteine coupling of therapeutic drugs into protein-based ***,the high reactivity of unpaired cysteine residues usually reduces protein stability,consequently imposing the use of more methodologically demanding purification *** is especially relevant for disulfide-containing nanocarriers,as previously observed in ***,although many protein scaffolds and targeting ligands are also rich in disulfide bridges,the use of these methodologies over emerging non-antibody carrier proteins has been completely ***,we report the development of a simple and straightforward procedure for a onestep production and site-directed cysteine conjugation of disulfide-containing non-antibody thiolated carrier proteins(THIOCAPs).This method is validated in a fluorescent C-X-C chemokine receptor 4(CXCR4)-targeted multivalent nanocarrier containing two intramolecular disulfide bridges and one reactive cysteine residue strategically placed into a solvent-exposed position(THIO-T22-gFP-H6)for drug conjugation and in a humanized alternative intended for clinical applications(T22-HSNBT-H6).Thus,we produce very stable,homogeneous and fully functional antitumoral nanoconjugates(THIO-T22-gFP-H6-MMAE and T22-HSNBT-H6-MMAE)that selectively eliminate target cancer cells via ***,the developed methodology appears as a powerful tool for the rational engineering of emerging non-antibody,cell-targeted protein nanocarriers that contain disulfide bridges together with a solvent-exposed reactive cysteine(THIOCAP).This should pave the way for the development of a new generation of stable,homogeneous and efficient nanomedicines.

Introducing System Identification Strategy into Model Predictive Control

As system identification theory and model predictive control are belonged to two different research fields separately,so one gap exists between these two *** alleviate this gap between them,one new idea proposed in this paper is to introduce system identification theory into model predictive *** the most important element in model predictive control is the prediction of the output value for a nonlinear system,then the problem of deriving the prediction of the output value can be achieved by system identification *** specifically,a Bayesian approach is applied for the nonparametric estimation by modeling the prediction as realizations of zero mean random *** comparing this kind of prediction corresponding to this Bayesian approach and the former direct weight optimization identification for nonlinear system,the authors see that if the unknown weights are chosen appropriately,these two approaches are equivalent to each *** on the obtained prediction of the output value,the authors substitute this prediction of the output value into one cost function of model predictive control,and then a quadratic programming problem with inequality constraints is *** to solve this quadratic programming problem,a detailed process about how to derive its dual form is *** the dual problem has a simple constraint set,it is amenable to the use of the common gauss-Seidel algorithm,whose convergence can be shown ***,one simulation example confirms the proposed theoretical results.

The potential of polyphenols for treating chronic-degenerative diseases(particularly neurodegenerative diseases)is ***,the selection of the best polyphenol for each treatment,the mechanisms by which they act,and their efficacy are frequently *** this review,the basics and the advances in the field,as well as suggestions for using natural and synthetic polyphenols alone or in a combinatorial strategy with stem cell assays,are compiled and ***,stem cells exhibit several responses when polyphenols are added to their environment,which could provide us with knowledge for advancing the elucidation of the origin of *** also,polyphenols are being included in the innovative strategies of novel therapies for treating neurodegenerative diseases as well as metabolic diseases related to *** this regard,flavonoid compounds are suggested as the best natural polyphenols due to their several mechanisms for acting in ameliorative effects;but increasing reports are involving other *** if some facts limiting bioactivity prevent them from conventional use,some natural polyphenols and derivatives hold the promise for being improved compounds,judged by their induced *** current results suggest polyphenols as enhancers of stem cell therapy against the targeted diseases.
