Titanium tube and stainless steel tube plate were welded by an innovative friction welding of tube to tube plate using an external tool (FWTPET). copper was used as an interlayer for joining the dissimilar materials and also to minimize the effect of intermetallics formed at the joint interface. The process parameters that govern FWTPET process are plunge rate, rotational speed, plunge depth, axial load and flash trap profile. Among them, the flash trap profile of the tube has a significant influence on the joint integrity. Various flash trap profiles like vertical slots, holes, zig-zag holes, and petals were made on the titanium tube welded to the stainless steel tube plate. Macroscopic and microscopic studies reveal defect-free joints. The presence of copper interlayer and intermetallics was evident from X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and energy dispersive spectroscopy (EDS) studies. The microhardness survey was presented across and along the interface. A novel test procedure called “plunge shear test” was developed to evaluate the joint properties of the welded joints. The highest shear fracture load of 31.58 kN was observed on the sample having petals as flash trap profile. The sheared surfaces were further characterized using SEM for fractography.

The online review function helps consumers grasp more real product information and reduce the possibility of returning, but it may also damage firms’ reputations or profits. However, few studies considered the relationship between online reviews and consumer returns. Based on this, we develop an e-commerce supply chain(E-Sc) game model consisting of a single manufacturer and a single e-platform, aiming to explore the relationship between consumer returns and online reviews and to analyze the impact on both the decision-making of E-Sc members and their profits. We find that there is a negative relationship between consumer returns and online reviews of product quality, and consumer returns make the pricing decisions in the two scenarios of yes/no online reviews move toward two different directions. Only when the online review is positive and higher than a certain threshold will it have a positive impact on sales and E-Sc members’ profits. Finally, we design a new “commission joint returns and quality improvement costs sharing” contract to optimize the decentralized model with online reviews, and we find that the higher the accuracy of product information, the less conducive the contract applied to E-Sc.

Apoptosis plays an important role in preimplantation embryonic development. Investigating mechanisms of apoptosis can provide useful information for obtaining high-quality embryos and help to improve cloning effciency. Here, we investigated the incidence of blastomere apoptosis in transgenic blastocysts generated by somatic cell nuclear transfer (ScNT) and recloning using a terminal deoxynucleotidyl transferase-mediated d-UTP nick end-labeling (TUNEL) assay. Transgenic recloned embryos were the second generation ScNT embryos derived from the somatic cells of a transgenic ScNT calf. The blastocyst rate of transgenic ScNT embryos was lower than that of nontransgenic ScNT embryos. The incidence of apoptosis in transgenic ScNT embryos was higher than that of nontransgenic ScNT embryos. The blastocyst rate and the incidence of apoptosis in transgenic recloned embryos were similar to nontransgenic ScNT embryos. The process of donor cell transfection and drug selection may decrease the developmental capacity of transgenic ScNT embryos. Serial cloning did not influence the developmental capacity of transgenic recloned embryos.

Objective:We aimed to describe the clinical features of the apogeotropic variant of horizontal canal benign paroxysmal positional vertigo(Hc BPPV-AG)in a cluster of patients with restrictive neck movement disorders and a new therapeutic manoeuvre for its ***:In a retrospective review of cases from an ambulatory tertiary referral center,patients with Hc BPPV-AG in combination with neck movement restriction that prevented any classical manual repositioning procedure or who were refractory to canalith repositioning manoeuvres,were treated with a new manoeuvre comprised of sequential square-wave pattern of head and body supine rotations while nystagmus was being monitored,until either an apogeotropic to geotropic conversion or resolution of the nystagmus was ***:Fifteen patients were *** but one[14/15 cases]showed a positive therapeutic response to the repositioning procedure in a single *** two cases,a direct relief of vertigo and elimination of nystagmus was observed without an intermediate geotropic *** in three patients the affected ear was not initially identified,it was ultimately identified and successfully treated by the square wave manoeuvre in all of ***:The square-wave manoeuvre is an alternative for Hc BPPV-AG treatment in either cases with neck restriction,where the affected side is not well identified at the bedside or when other manoeuvres fail to resolve the Hc BPPV-AG.

Semi-solid metal processing is being developed in die casting applications to give several cost benefits. To efficiently apply this emerging technology, it is important to understand the evolution of microstructure in semi-solid slurries for the control of the theological behavior in semi-solid state. An experimental apparatus was developed which can capture the grain structure at different times at early stages to understand how the semi-solid structure evolves. In this technique, semi-solid slurry was produced by injecting fine gas bubbles into the melt through a graphite diffuser during solidification. Then, a copper quenching mold was used to draw some semi-solid slurry into a thin channel. The semi-solid slurry was then rapidly frozen in the channel giving the microstructure of the slurry at the desired time. Samples of semi-solid 356 aluminum alloy were taken at different gas injection times of 1, 5, 10, 15, 20, 30, 35, 40, and 45 s. Analysis of the microstructure suggests that the fragmentation by remelting mechanism should be responsible for the formation of globular structure in this rheocasting process.

Discharging dye contaminants into water is a major concern around the *** a variety of methods to treat dye-contaminated water,photocatalytic degradation has gained attention as a tool for treating the colored ***,we review the recent advancements in photocatalysis for dye degradation in industrial effluents by categorizing photocatalyst materials into three *** generation photocatalysts are composed of single-component materials (e.g.,TiO2,ZnO,and cdS),while second generation photocatalysts are composed of multiple components in a suspension (e.g.,WO3/NiWO4,BiOl/ZnTiOa,and c3N4/Ag3VO4).Photocatalysts immobilized on solid substrates are regarded as third generation materials (e.g.,FTO/WO3-ZnO,Steel/TiO2-WO3,and Glass/P-TiO2).Photocatalytic degradation mechanisms,factors affecting the dye degradation,and the lesser-debated uncertainties related to the photocatalysis are also discussed to offer better insights into environmental ***,quantum yields of different photocatalysts are calculated,and a performance evaluation method is proposed to compare photocatalyst systems for dye ***,we discuss the present limitations of photocatalytic dye degradation for field applications and the future of the technology.

Finding ways to cool buildings by natural,passive techniques is crucial in the context of global *** centuries,wind towers(traditi onal win dcatchers)have been used in the Middle East for cooling *** this study,the use of funnels at the openings of wind towers for wind ingress and egress is proposed primarily to increase the mass flow captured by the wind *** use of funnels in the wind in gress openings in creases the inlet area,improving the capture of *** parallel,the use of funnels in the egress openings modifies the wake of the tower,which aims to ease the exit of the flow from inside the *** design configurations are presented,where the length and width of the funnels are changed and tested separately by computational fluid dynamics(cFD).Results of over 120 cFD simulations are presented and *** volumetric flow entering the wind towers in creases by 10.7% in several *** results in dicate that adding funnels to wind towers could positively in fluence their *** the dimensions of the funnels affects their efficacy and can increase or decrease the airflow entering the tower.

The purpose of this study was to analyze the effect of Zn nutritional status on the content of pigments, nonstructural carbohydrates, foliage proteins and amino acids of the pecan tree, as possible bioindicators of Zn deficiency. The experimental design was completely random with three Zn nutritional statuses: Normal, Intermediate and Deficient, being selected considering visual symptomatology. On all three nutritional statuses, the concentration of photosynthetic pigments was determined as well as of total soluble proteins and amino acids. Obtained results indicate that Zn deficient nutritional status was characterized by minimum photosynthetic pigment, protein concentrations, maximum amino acid and nonstructural carbohydrate concentrations. While the normal Zn nutritional status presented maximum photosynthetic pigments, proteins concentrations, minimum amino acids and carbohydrate concentrations. On the other hand, intermediate Zn nutritional status was characterized by a medium level between the other two Zn nutritional statuses. Finally, we stress the fact that pigments, proteins, amino acids and nonstructural carbohydrates may be good physiological indicators related to Zn nutritional status on pecan trees.

This study was conducted in two stages, in 2006 the formation of cross, in the experimental field of the Universidad Autonoma Agraria Antonio Narro Unidad Laguna (UAAANUL), and the evaluation of the same in 2007;at two locations with three environments, a locality was the experimental field of UAAANUL during spring and summer cycles and another location was the Niagara, Municipality of Aguascalientes, during the spring cycle. The genetic material used consisted of three groups of lines: the first group formed by four lines from the UAAANUL, the second group, two lines from INIFAP, and the third group, 10 lines of the International center for Maize Improvement and Wheat (cIMMYT). The main objective was to estimate the effects of general combining ability (GcA) of the lines, and the specific combining ability (ScA) of their crosses and heterosis, to estimate its use in a breeding program. Estimates of general combining ability (GcA) and specific combining ability (ScA) were obtained using an analysis of line x line. To forage yield (FY), B-40 (16.84 t·ha-1) and AN-447 (1.54 t·ha-1) and to grain yield (GY), AN-388R (2.31 t·ha-1) had the greatest effect of GcA in both types of yield. The greatest effects of ScA for (FY) were cross AN-447XcML-264 (17.56 t·ha-1) and AN-388RXcML-319 (16.54 t·ha-1), in (GY) were cross AN-447XcML-315 (1.94 t·ha-1) and B-40XcML-319 (1.78 t·ha-1). For heterosis, higher value in forage yield was cross AN-447XcML-264 (20.7%), in grain yield, were B-40XcML-319 (27.1%) and B-32XcML-319 (22.1%) crosses. These results show that it is possible to structure a hybrid program using best lines from cIMMYT, INIFAP and UAAANUL.

Machine learning(ML)is emerging as a powerful tool to predict the properties of materials,including *** ML models with knowledge of how glass composition affects short-range atomic structure has the potential to enhance the ability of composition-property models to extrapolate accurately outside of their training ***,we introduce an approach wherein statistical mechanics informs a ML model that can predict the non-linear composition-structure relations in oxide *** combined model offers an improved prediction compared to models relying solely on statistical physics or machine learning ***,we show that the combined model accurately both interpolates and extrapolates the structure of Na_(2)O–SiO_(2)***,the model is able to extrapolate predictions outside its training set,which is evidenced by the fact that it is able to predict the structure of a glass series that was kept fully hidden from the model during its training.
