Th. vagus nerve(VN)plays an important role in regulating ph.siological conditions in th. gastrointestinal(GI)tract by communicating via th. parasympath.tic path.ay to th. enteric nervous system(ENS).h.wever,th. lack of knowledge in th. neuroph.siology of th. VN and GI tract limits th. development of advanced treatments for autonomic dysfunctions related to th. *** better understand th. complicated underlying mech.nisms of th. VN-GI tract neuroph.siology,it is necessary to use an advanced device enabled by microfabrication *** several candidates including intraneural probe array and extraneural cuff electrodes,microch.nnel electrode array devices can be used to interface with.smaller numbers of nerve fibers by securing th.m in th. separate ch.nnel *** microch.nnel electrode array devices to interface teased nerve structures are relatively bulky with.th.ckness around 200µ*** th.ck design can potentially h.rm th. delicate tissue structures,including th. nerve *** th.s paper,we present a flexible th.n film based microch.nnel electrode array device(th.ckness:11.5µm)th.t can interface with.one of th. subdiaph.agmatic nerve branch.s of th. VN in a *** demonstrated recording evoked compound action potentials(ECAP)from a transected nerve ending th.t h.s multiple nerve ***,our analysis confirmed th.t th. signals are from C-fibers th.t are critical in regulating autonomic neuroph.siology in th. Th.s paper outlines a plan for th. effective reduction of th. audible sound level produced by aerodynamic noise from th. power-generating turbine blades. Th. contribution of aerodynamic noise can be divided into two categories: inflow turbulence and airfoil self-noise. Th. base model and retrofit blade designs were modeled in SolidWorks. Subsequently, noise prediction simulations were conducted and compared to th. base blade model to determine wh.ch.modification provided th. greatest benefit using SolidWorks Flow Simulation. Th. result of th.s project is a series of blade retrofit recommendations th.t produce a more acoustically efficient design and reduce noise complaints wh.le enabling turbines to be placed in locations th.t require quieter operations.

“Active Feedback” Fitbit-Based Ph.sical Activity and Sleep h.giene Intervention for Memory Assessment Service (MAS) Patients with.Cognitive Deficits: Feasibility, Acceptability, Sleep Quality, Stress, and Wellbeing Outcomes

Research.Background: Compared to th. general population, people experiencing age-related cognitive decline are more likely to h.ve low levels of ph.sical activity and sleep problems. Sufficient ph.sical activity and quality sleep are protective factors against cognitive decline and poor h.alth.and can improve coping with.stressors. Th. “Active Feedback” intervention comprises a wearable activity and sleep tracker (Fitbit), access to Fitbit software h.alth. lifestyle software apps;one session with.Memory Assessment Service (MAS) staff providing ph.sical activity and sleep h.giene advice and two furth.r engagement, discussion, and feedback sessions. Purpose/Aim: Th.s study investigates th. acceptability and feasibility of Active Feedback and th. effect on stress, mental wellbeing, and sleep quality, and th. links between th.se factors. Meth.ds: An open-label patient coh.rt design with.no control group was used. Pre-intervention, 4-week and 8-week intervention assessments were performed using participant self-report measures: Perceived Stress Scale (PSS), Warwick-Edinburgh.Mental Wellbeing Scale (WEMWBS), and Sleep Conditioning Index (SCI). Twenty-five participants completed an eigh.-week th.ee-session intervention (18 males and 7 females), with.th. age range of 66 - 84 years old, and average age of 73.8 years (SD = 5.09). Fifteen participants h.d a diagnosis of MCI, ten participants did not. Results: Th.re were non-significant improvements in SCI scores from 21.0 (SD = 8.84) to 21.6 (SD = 6.20) at 8 weeks, PSS scores from 17.5 (SD = 5.89) to 17.0 (SD = 6.20) at 8 weeks, and WEMWBS scores from 46.9 (SD = 9.23) to 48.8 (SD = 9.69) at 8 weeks. Th.re were negative correlations between WEMWBS and PSS. Conclusion: Active Feedback intervention was found to be feasible and acceptable. Active Feedback could be enh.nced to include motivational interviewing and goal setting.

Comparing outcomes from th. two most recognized acupuncturist workforce surveys

OBJECTIVE： To determine th. informational consistency produced by th. two most recent independent surveys and draw a conclusion wh.th.r th. data would be sufficient for th. National Center for h.alth.Workforce Analysis and Bureau of Labor and Statistics consideration. METh.DS： Th.s paper compares workforce outcomes collected by th. two most prominent acupuncture entities th.t h.ve produced th. most useful acupuncturist workforce data （California Acupuncture Board 2015 Occupational Analysis and th. National Certification Commission of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine^2013 Job Analysis） at national and state levels. RESULTS： Findings based upon th. most compatible survey questions sh.wed th. following： more th.n 70% of acupuncturists work fewer th.n 40 h.urs weekly; approximately 76% work in solo practice or in sh.red space with.oth.r acupuncturists; more th.n 70% of th. national sample h.ve been in practice 15 years or less; and median income is between $40 000 and $50 000. A preponderance of acupuncturists is less th.n 50 years of age, and fewer th.n 15% of all respondents h.ve been in practice more th.n 20 years. CONCLUSION： Basic workforce information is a necessary precursor for conducting workforce projections. It is useful to track th. expansion or contraction of any given profession. Tracking influences subsequent planning for th. profession based upon reliable and valid information about its growth. Th. ability of th. profession to collect its own workforce data is paramount to workforce projection models. Any future survey sh.uld be a sh.red project th.t follows guidelines supported by th. National Center for h.alth.Workforce Analysis.
