Persistence of ultrasound alterations after antibiotic treatment with levofloxacin in patients with male accessory gland infection

No studies have evaluated the ultrasound features of the male sex accessory glands in infertile patients with bacterial male accessory gland infection （MAGI） according to the microbiological outcomes of bacterial cultures （absent, partial or complete） following antibiotic therapy administration. Therefore, the aim of this study was to evaluate the ultrasound characteristics of the prostate, seminal vesicles, and epididymal tracts after treatment with levofloxacin （a common quinolone antibiotic）, in patients with infections caused by Escherichia coil （a Gram-negative bacterium） according to the Naber＇s classification, which includes the following categories： eradication, eradication with superinfection, persistence and persistence with superinfection. The study was conducted in 100 patients aged 25±8 years （range： 20-40 years） with bacterial MAGI and bacterial cultures positive only for E. coil（colony forming units ≥ 106 per ml）. retrospective analysis was conducted only on patients treated with oral levofloxacin （500 mg） administered once daily for 28 days who were recruited over the last 5 years. Following antibiotic treatment, patients with microbiological persistence or persistence with superinfection had a significantly higher percentage of ultrasound abnormalities suggestive of prostato-vesiculitis （PV）（30.2% and 36.0%, respectively） or prostato-vesiculo-epididymitis （PVE）（60.2% and 70.0%, respectively） compared with patients with microbiological eradication （PV= 10.2% and PVE=8.2%, respectively） or eradication with superinfection （PV= 18.8% and PVE=21.2%, respectively）. In conclusion, patients with microbiological persistence or persistence plus superinfection showed the highest prevalence of complicated forms of MAGI （PV and PVE）, compared with patients with microbiological eradication or eradication with superinfection.

Varicocele has a prevalence of 15%in the population and represents a primary cause of infertility in 40%of cases and a secondary cause in approximately 80%of *** is considered the major correctable cause of male *** its high prevalence in the infertile population,a large number of patients with varicocele do not experience reproductive *** this reason,it is still highly debated which parameters could be used to predict which patients with varicocele will be most likely to benefit from its *** main international and European guidelines state that treatment should only be considered in infertile patients with abnormal sperm ***,these guidelines do not help physicians to identify which of these patients may benefit from the ***,this narrative review collects the evidence in the literature on the usefulness of some factors as predictors of improvement,highlighting how some of them may be effective in an initial selection of patients to be treated,while others are promising but further studies are ***,a brief consideration on the possible role of artificial intelligence is proposed.

Seismic attributes supported by composite logs are the best way that can enable the interpreter to understand seismic data very well and generate a new view of the output *** of the reservoir zone can be enhanced by analyzing wells log data based on Gamma-ray,resistivity,and Vp sonic logs *** logs of Scarab-1,Scarab-De,Scarab-Da,Scarab-Dd,and Scarab-2 wells indicate the lateral and vertical variation of the gas reservoir in ElWastani ***,there are several seismic attributes that can be used to support reservoirs *** enhancement the detection of the hydrocarbon reservoirs,it is important to carefully analyze the 2D seismic data,which in this study will be primarily prepared to enhance seismic attributes results for the identification of gas chimneys,gas zones as channels,enhance stratigraphic and structural *** this article,we have performed data conditioning,quality control and seismic well ties including the preliminary wavelet extractions to get accurate ***,we have extracted of several classes of physical,geometrical and complex attributes as a direct hydrocarbon indicator to identify the gas zones,channels and chimneys and to identify the faults and *** main contribution of this work is to provide a more detailed seismic reflection image supported by several seismic attributes classes and well logs to show a visual and quantitative evidence to identify the gas channels and gas chimneys with improving the detection of the faults and discontinuities.

Giant cell tumors of bone(GCTB)are associated with massive bone destructions and high recurrence *** a previous study,we observed cytotoxic effects of three different compositions of bioactive glasses(BGs)towards GCTSC but not bone marrow derived stromal cells(BMSC)indicating that BGs represent promising candidates for the development of new therapeutic *** the current study we aimed to investigate the molecular mechanisms that are involved in BG induced *** observed,that BG treatment was not associated with any signs of apoptosis,but rather led to a strong induction of mitogen activated protein kinases(MAPK)and,as a consequence,upregulation of several transcription factors specifically in *** wide gene expression profiling further revealed a set of fifteen genes that were exclusively induced in GCTSC or induced significantly stronger in GCTSC compared to *** treatment further induced autophagy that was significantly more pronounced in GCTSC compared to BMSC and could be inhibited by MAPK *** with the known osteogenic properties of BGs our findings support the suitability of BGs as therapeutic agents for the treatment of ***,these data have to be verified under in vivo conditions.

This paper investigates the free vibration and transient response of interconnected structures including double curved beams and intermediate straight beams,which are all constructed from functionally graded porous(FGP) materials. The strain potential and kinetic energies of each beam along with the work done by the external force are calculated. Additionally, a higher-order beam element is introduced to derive stiffness and mass matrices, along with the force vector. The curved and straight beams are discretized, and their assembled stiffness, mass matrices, and force vectors, are *** conditions at the joints are used to derive the total matrices of the entire structure. Subsequently, the natural frequencies and transient response of the system are determined. The accuracy of the mathematical model and the self-developed computer program is validated through the comparison of the obtained results with those of the existing literature and commercial software ANSYS, demonstrating excellent ***, a comprehensive study is conducted to investigate the effects of various parameters on the free vibration and transient response of the considered structure.

This study was undertaken to evaluate the influence of treatment with rifaximin followed by the probiotic VSL#3 versus no treatment on the progression of chronic prostatitis toward chronic microbial prostate-vesiculitis （PV） or prostate-vesiculo-epididymitis （PVE）. A total of 106 selected infertile male patients with bacteriologically cured chronic bacterial prostatitis （CBP） and irritable bowel syndrome （IBS） were randomly prescribed rifaximin （200 mg, 2 tablets bid, for 7 days monthly for 12 months） and probiotic containing multiple strains VSL#3 （450 × 10^9 CFU per day） or no treatment. Ninety-five of them （89.6%） complied with the therapeutic plan and were included in this study. Group A = ＂6Tx/6-＂： treatment for the initial 6 and no treatment for the following 6 months （n = 26）; Group B = ＂12Tx＂： 12 months of treatment （n = 22）; Group C = ＂6-/6Tx＂： no treatment for the initial 6 months and treatment in the last 6 months （n = 23）; Group D = ＂12-＂： no treatment （n = 24）. The patients of Groups A = ＂6Tx/6-＂ and B = ＂12Tx＂ had the highest frequency of chronic prostatitis （88.5% and 86.4%, respectively）. In contrast, group ＂12-＂： patients had the lowest frequency of prostatitis （33.4%）. The progression of prostatitis into PV in groups ＂6Tx/6-＂（15.5%） and ＂6-/6Tx＂（13.6%） was lower than that found in the patients of group ＂12-＂（45.8%）. Finally, no patient of groups ＂6Tx/6-＂ and ＂6-/6Tx＂ had PVE, whereas it was diagnosed in 20.8% of group ＂12-＂ patients. Long-term treatment with rifaximin and the probiotic VSL#3 is effective in lowering the progression of prostatitis into more complicated forms of male accessory gland infections in infertile patients with bacteriologically cured CBP plus IBS.

We have previously demonstrated a high frequency of premature ejaculation （PE） among patients with male accessory gland infection （MAGI）. The aim of this study was to evaluate the ultrasound （US） features of patients with MAGI and acquired premature ejaculation （APE） associated （MAGI-APEpos）. US evaluation of 50 MAGI-APEpos patients compared to 50 patients with MAGI without PE （MAGI-PEneg） which represent the control group. The diagnosis of APE was made through the evaluation of Intravaginal ejaculation latency time （IELT） and confirmed with the questionnaire PEDT （Premature Ejaculation Diagnostic Tool）. The main outcome measure was represented by the frequency of US criteria suggestive of P （prostatitis）, V （vesiculitis）, and E （epididymitis） in MAGI-APEpos and MAGI-PEneg patients. MAGI-APEpos patients showed a total number of US criteria significantly higher compared to MAGI-PEneg patients. MAGI-APEpos showed a higher frequency of US criteria of V and E （complicated forms of MAGI）. Finally, in MAGI-APEpos group, it was found a positive relationship between the anteroposterior diameter （APD） of the caudal tract of the epididymis and the APD of the seminal vesicles, as well as between both diameters and the PEDT score. MAGI-APEpos patients have a peculiar US characterization compared to MAGI-PEneg patients. According to these results, US evaluation of the epididymal and of the prostato vesicular tract should be considered in the practical clinical approach of patients with MAGI and APE. In particular, it could be a SUDDort for a possible Dathoahysiological interpretation of this clinical problem in these patients.

The pseudo-rapidity distributions of the charged particles produced in the asymmetric collision systems p+Al,p+Au and ^(3)He+Au at√S_(NN)=200 GeV GeV are evaluated in the framework of a fireball model with Tsallis *** fireball model assumes that the experimentally measured particles are produced by fireballs following the Tsallis distribution and it can effectively describe the experimental *** results as well as previous results for d+Au collisions at√S_(NN)=200 GeV GeV and p+Pb collisions at√S_(NN)=5.02 TeV TeV validate that the fireball model based on Tsallis thermodynamics can provide a universal framework for pseudo-rapidity distribution of the charged particles produced in asymmetric collision *** predict the centrality dependence of the total charged particle multiplicity in the p+Al,p+Au and 3He+Au ***,the dependences of the fireball model parameters(y_(0a),y_(0A),σ_(a) and σ_(A))on the centrality and system size are studied.

We experimentally study the transport properties of dipolar and fundamental modes on one dimensional(1D) coupled waveguide arrays. By carefully modulating a wide optical beam, we are able to effectively excite dipolar or fundamental modes to study discrete diffraction(single-site excitation) and gaussian beam propagation(multi-site excitation plus a phase gradient). We observe that dipolar modes experience a larger spreading area due to an effective larger coupling constant, which is found to be more than two times larger than the one for fundamental modes. Additionally, we study the effect of non-diagonal disorder and find that while fundamental modes are already trapped on a weakly disorder array, dipoles are still able to propagate across the system.
