BACKGROUND Laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy(LSG)has been proposed as an effective and durable treatment for severe obesity and glucose metabolism disorders,and its prevalence has increased from 5%to 37%since *** common complication after bariatric surgery is a postprandial hyperinsulinemic hypoglycemic *** rare,insulinomas can cause this state,where symptoms are more common in the fasting state;thus,evaluation of insulin secretion is *** now,there have been no reports of insulinoma after *** SUMMARY We describe the case of a 43-year-old woman who was referred to the obesity clinic 2 years after LSG was *** had symptoms of hypoglycemia predominantly in the fasting state and documented hypoglycemia of less than 30 mg/d L,which are compatible with Whipple’s ***,dumping syndrome was suspected,but after a second low fasting plasma glucose was documented,a 72-h fasting test was performed that tested *** tomography and endoscopic ultrasound were performed,identifying the presence of a homogeneous hypoechoic semioval tumoral lesion in the *** diagnosis was compatible with *** laparoscopic enucleation of the insulinoma,the symptoms and hypoglycemia *** histopathological report described a well-differentiated grade 2 neuroendocrine tumor with positive chromogranin and synaptophysin and Ki67 immunopositivity in 4%of the neoplastic *** Insulinoma after LSG is a rare condition,and clinicians must be aware of it,especially if the patient has hypoglycemic symptoms during the fasting state.

It can be therefore used for power generation by driving heat engines, as well as for fuel production by driving endothermic chemical transformations (1)Currently, the main optical configurations to concentrate the direct(beam) solar radiation at large scale are the line-focussing parabolic trough and linear Fresnel systems, and the point-focussing solar tower and dish systems.

A Bioinspired Robot Growing like Plant Roots

Clinical relevance of sarcopenia in patients with cirrhosis

The most commonly recognized complications in cirrhotic patients include ascites, hepatic encephalopathy, variceal bleeding, susceptibility for infections, kidney dysfunction, and hepatocellular carcinoma; however, severe muscle wasting or sarcopenia are the most common and frequently unseen complications which negatively impact survival, quality of life, and response to stressor, such as infections and surgeries. At present, D’Amico stage classification, Child-Pugh, and MELD scores constitute the best tools to predict mortality in patients with cirrhosis; however, one of their main limitations is the lack of assessing the nutritional and functional status. Currently, numerous methods are available to evaluate the nutrition status of the cirrhotic patient; nevertheless, most of these techniques have limitations primarily because lack of objectivity, reproducibility, and prognosis discrimination. In this regard, an objective and reproducible technique, such as muscle mass quantification with cross-sectional imaging studies (computed tomography scan or magnetic resonance imaging) constitute an attractive index of nutritional status in cirrhosis. Sarcopenia is part of the frailty complex present in cirrhotic patients, resulting from cumulative declines across multiple physiologic systems and characterized by impaired functional capacity, decreased reserve, resistance to stressors, and predisposition to poor outcomes. In this review, we discuss the current accepted and new methods to evaluate prognosis in cirrhosis. Also, we analyze the current knowledge regarding incidence and clinical impact of malnutrition and sarcopenia in patients with cirrhosis and their impact after liver transplantation. Finally, we discuss existing and potential novel therapeutic approaches for malnutrition in cirrhosis, emphasizing the recognition of sarcopenia in an effort to reduced morbidity related and improved survival in cirrhosis.

Characterization of machine tools and measurement system for micromilling

Technological progress has led to increased demand for small components with tiny features, which cannot be achieved through conventional machining. Industrial application of processes based on microcutting is limited by some issues concerning the geometrical scale. The process performance is significantly affected by milling machine, tool holder, tool, workpiece material microstructure, workpiece fixtures, and process parameters. At present, an ultimate micromachining assessment procedure is not available. This study aims to propose and conduct an experiment on a testing procedure for micromilling. The set up to be implemented and the output to be considered are defined and described. Three major stages are identified: estimation of the effective bandwidth of the load cell–tool holder system, the milling machine natural frequency measurement, and micromilling test execution. The entire procedure is performed, and its robustness is demonstrated.

Density and temperature of fermions and bosons from quantum fluctuations

A novel method to determine the density and temperature of a system constituted by fermions and/or bosons is proposed based on quantum *** fermions system,the results in the limit where the reached temperature T is small and where there is no constraint for the reached temperature T compared to the Fermi energy εf at a given density ρ are given,*** and multiplicity fluctuation relations are derived in terms of T/ε*** compared the two set results in the limit when T is much smaller compared to Fermi energy εf and they are consistent,as *** classical limit is also obtained for high temperatures and low *** bosons system,quadrupole and multiplicity fluctuations using Landau's theory of fluctuations near the critical point for a Bose-Einstein condensate(BEC) at a given density ρ are *** an example,we apply our approach to heavy ion collisions using the Constrained Molecular Dynamics model(CoMD) which includes the fermionic *** multiplicity fluctuation quenching for fermions is found in the model and confirmed by experimental *** reproduce the available experimental data better,we propose a modification of the collision term in the approach to include the possibility of α-α *** relevant Bose-Einstein factor in the collision term is properly taken into *** approach increases the yields of bosons relative to fermions closer to *** fluctuations become larger than one as expected.

Injectable bone cements:What benefits the combination of calcium phosphates and bioactive glasses could bring?

Out of the wide range of calcium phosphate(CaP)biomaterials,calcium phosphate bone cements(CPCs)have attracted increased attention since their discovery in the 1980s due to their valuable properties such as bioactivity,osteoconductivity,injectability,hardening ability through a low-temperature setting reaction and *** numerous researches have been performed to enhance the properties of ***,low mechanical performance of CPCs limits their clinical application in load bearing regions of ***,the in vivo resorption and replacement of CPC with new bone tissue is still controversial,thus further improvements of high clinical importance are *** glasses(BGs)are biocompatible and able to bond to bone,stimulating new bone growth while dissolving over *** the last decades extensive research has been performed analyzing the role of BGs in combination with different ***,the focal point of this review paper is to summarize the available research data on how injectable CPC properties could be improved or affected by the addition of BG as a secondary powder *** was found that despite the variances of setting time and compressive strength results,desirable injectable properties of bone cements can be achieved by the inclusion of BGs into *** published data also revealed that the degradation rate of CPCs is significantly improved by BG ***,the presence of BG in CPCs improves the in vitro osteogenic differentiation and cell response as well as the tissue-material interaction in vivo.

ENERGY ESTIMATES FOR DELAY DIFFUSION-REACTION EQUATIONS

In this paper we consider nonlinear delay diffusion-reaction equations with initial and Dirichlet boundary conditions. The behaviour and the stability of the solution of such initial boundary value problems （IBVPs） are studied using the energy method. Simple numerical methods are considered for the computation of numerical approximations to the solution of the nonlinear IBVPs. Using the discrete energy method we study the stability and convergence of the numerical approximations. Numerical experiments are carried out to illustrate our theoretical results.
