In the poultry industry, it is common to evaluate the humoral immune response associated to the vaccination calendar used for the different zootechnical purposes. When the vaccine against avian influenza and Newcastle disease currently used in a farm is going to be changed, an important parameter observed to choose a product over the others is based on the antibody titers reached by the application of the new vaccine. This study aimed to compare the serologic results obtained by hemagglutination inhibition （HI） test of avian influenza and Newcastle disease reported in four different national laboratories. One-day-old Ross broiler chickens were kept in Horsfall-Bauer isolation units and were vaccinated subcutaneously for the prevention of avian influenza and Newcastle disease. Then, serum of all the birds was extracted at three, six and seven weeks old and sent to four different national diagnostic laboratories, where HI test was performed for avian influenza and Newcastle disease. The treatments were designed in 4 × 3 factorial. Data showed significant statistical differences between laboratory results （up to six logarithms for influenza at six and seven weeks）. This study confirms that the results of the HI test can vary from one laboratory to another, thus it is important to consider this, when the vaccines against avian influenza and Newcastle disease are evaluated at field.

Most of the studies regarding the formation and stability of emulsions focus on the conditioning and management of crude oil on surface *** a great deal of the crude oil produced is in the form of stable emulsions,it is often claimed that these emulsions are formed through chokes and other flow constrictions in oil field ***,emulsions are produced in wells,which not only lack these constrictions but also are produced at low flow rates,demonstrating the fact that emulsions can be formed within the well *** present work reviews the literature regarding the formation and properties of heavy and extra-heavy oil emulsions in naturally fractured porous media due to the current relevance that these types of crude oil exploitation take,satisfying the hydrocarbon energy ***,emulsions have received more attention recently since they can be formed in-situ and improve oil *** understand the flow mechanics of emulsions in porous media,different models to describe their transportation are ***,the formation of emulsions in the reservoir for enhanced oil recovery purposes,including the use of nanoparticlestabilized emulsions is discussed.

This study aimed at the physical, chemical and biochemical changes during ripening of Sweetsop （Annona squamosa L.） and Golden Apple （Spondias citherea Sonner） fruits during ripening as important features to better understand their postharvest handling. It was carried out physical analysis such as firmness and chemical analysis such as total chlorophyll, total carotenoids, soluble solids, pectins and titrable acidity and biochemical analysis such as pectin methyl esterase, polygalacturonase, cellulase, and peroxidase and polyphenoloxidase activities in crude extract. Fruits were harvested at different stages of ripening. Experimental design was completely randomized and was carried out analysis of variance and Tukey tests, Total chlorophyll was decreasing in later stages of ripening, total soluble solid contents increased as the fruits ripen, while the acidity expressed percentage of citric acid decreased during fruits ripening. The loss of firmness and soluble solids content increased as the fruit get ripped stage, while the content of pectin decreased. Activity was observed for pectin methyl esterase and polygalacturonase enzymes during all stages of maturation, presenting the highest activity for both enzymes in the mature state. No cellulase activity detected at any stage during the ripening of these fruits. Activity of the enzyme polyphenoloxidase and peroxidase, associated with pulp browning was higher in the last stages of ripening of these fruits. Physical, chemical and biochemical patterns during ripening were different according to fruit species suggesting differential postharvest handling requirements.

Tomato crops(Physalis ixocarpa Brot.)are produced in almost all Mexico,part of the United States and Central *** the tomato production has suffered economic losses of 70%to 80%due the presence of yellowing and floral abortion,whose causal agent has been attributed to the presence of phytoplasma;an insect vector of these phytoplasma is Bactericera cockerrelli *** control of this psyllid has lacked effectiveness because their spatial distribution is unknown within tomato *** study aimed to determine the spatial distribution of populations of nymphs of *** in four tomato plots,the determination of the spatial distribution was performed by means of *** experimental semivariogram was determined to adjust to a theoretical model(spherical,exponential or Gaussian)through the program Variowin 2.2,the adjustment was validated with the method of cross-validation and aggregation maps of the pest were obtained through Kriging with Surfer 9.0 *** short-term time-space stability of the pest was determined through the tests Crámer-von *** results showed that populations of nymphs of *** have a distribution of aggregate type,which was corroborated by density *** are not present in 100%of the surface of the experimental plots,which helps to direct control measures on specific areas of infestation.

The objective of this work is to study a comprehensive performance of three types of structured parking in CO2 absorption application. One of them was developed in Mexican National Institute of Nuclear Research （ININ abbreviation in Spanish of Instituto Nacional de lnvestigaciones Nucleates）, and the other two, Sulzer BX and Mellapak 250Y, by Sulzer Brothers Ltd. Aqueous solution of 30 weight % Monoethanolamine was employed as absorption solvent. The performance of the structured packing was evaluated in terms of the pressure drop, holds up, volumetric overall mass transfer coefficient and height of a global transfer unit of gas and liquid side as a function of the process operating parameters including gas and liquid load, by using hydrodynamic and mass transfer models. The pressure drop of ININ packing was higher than Sulzer BX and Mellapak 250Y, and volumetric overall mass transfer coefficient values are similar of Sulzer BX values and higher than Mellapak 250Y, although Sulzer BX and ININI 8 packing had less height of a global transfer unit of gas side values than Mellapak 250Y packing. The above-mentioned are consequences of the geometric characteristics and operational behavior for each packing.

Plasma Cell Neoplasms, Clinicopathological Characteristics and Immunophenotype of 21 Patients

Introduction: Plasma cell neoplasms are monoclonal proliferations characterized by the secretion of an immunoglobulin product known as component "M" or monoclonal. The World Health Organization (WHO 2008) defines as plasma cell neoplasms the following: plasma cell myeloma, plasmacytoma and those syndromes defined by immunoglobulin deposits and primary amyloidosis, The objective of the present work was to correlate their clinical, morphological and phenotype characteristics in 21 patients. Material and Methods: A 2-year retrospective review was performed of the files of the surgical pathology laboratory and of the hematology service of the General Hospital of Mexico, searching for patients with a diagnosis of plasma cell neoplasm. We analyzed the following variables: age, gender, clinical symptoms, evolution, localization, laboratory tests, morphology, and expression of immunohistochemical markers. Of the 21 patients, 12 (57.1%) corresponded to plasma cell myelomas and 9 (42.8%) were plasmacytomas (seven extraosseous and two solitary bone plasmacytoma);women predominated with 61.4% and age ranged between 22 and 84 years. Mass and epistaxis were observed in the patients with plasmacytomas, and symptoms of medullary compression and anemia were observed in those patients with plasma cell myeloma. The time of symptomatology varied from 3 to 12 months. Laboratory tests revealed that lactate dehydrogenase (LDH), beta 2 microglobulin, C-reactive protein were altered and that hypercalcemia and anemia were present more in the systemic form of the disease. Treatment depended on the clinical staging and laboratory data. Mature forms predominated morphologically. Immunohistochemical stain revealed a constant expression for CD 138, six patients expressed CD 56, and expression of the Kappa and Lambda light chains was while.

Introduction: Diffuse Large B-Cell Lymphoma (DLBCL) is a heterogeneous group conformed by morphological and clinical varieties of neoplasms;it originates from peripheral B-cells and is distinguished into three groups: germinal center (GC), activated B lymphocyte (ABL), and the third type. The existence of DLBCL with anaplastic morphology and expression of CD30 without t (2;5) translocation is rare. The aim of the present article is to describe this morphologic variant in a 54-year-old woman and a 74-year-old man, respectively. Materials and Methods: Patients diagnosed with DLBCL with anaplastic variant were identified from the surgical pathology records. Results: Out of 357 biopsies with this diagnosis, 11 (3%) corresponded to the anaplastic variant, 2 presented morphological clear cells;they became visible because of an increase in volume in the cervical area of 4 months of evolution, usually associated to diaphoresis and weight loss with clinical fulminating progression. An autopsy study was performed to one patient and it showed infiltration in supraclavicular lymph nodes, thyroid, and lung. The neoplastic cells presented abundant clear cytoplasm and pleomorphic nuclei that expressed CD20, CD30 and CD45. Conclusion: This variation is rare. The clinical presentation and prognosis are controversial;we present the morphological and immunophenotype changes of this variant. The differential diagnosis from other clear cell neoplasms should be made.

Association of Morphology and Immunophenotype in Diffuse Large B-Cell Lymphomas with Bone Marrow Infiltration in a Sample Mexican Population

Introduction: Diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL), not otherwise specified, is a large B-cell lymphoma with a diffuse growth pattern and aggressive clinical course. It is divided in subgroups according to its morphology, immunophenotype, and primary site. Dissemination to bone marrow occurs in 11% to 35% of cases and can be of concordant or discordant morphology. Objective: To examine the association, the type of bone marrow involvement in relation to the primary site, morphology, immunohistochemistry of DLBCLs and to determine the cases of Epstein-Barr virus positive DLBCLs. Materials and Methods: We reviewed lymph node and extranodal biopsies as well as the respective bone marrow biopsies in all cases of DLBCL diagnosed in the Hospital General de México during the period from 2002 to 2010. We used immunohystochemistry for immunophenotype identification (Hans’s algorithm) and an in-situ hybridization technique to detect presence of Epstein Barr encoded RNA (EBER). Results: We included 108 patients with a mean age of 51.9 years, 59 (55%) were men. DLBCL involved lymph nodes in 60% of cases and palatine tonsils in 13%. The centroblastic variant predominated (80%) and 58% originated from activated B-cells. Infiltration of bone marrow was present in 30% of cases and was discordant in 55% of these cases. Correlation between morphology and bone marrow infiltration was statistically significant (P = 0.0003). Presence of Epstein-Barr virus was demonstrated in 15% of patients older than 50 years. Conclusions: Dissemination to bone marrow occurred in 30% of cases and discordant involvement was most common. DLBCL originating from activated B-lymphocytes predominated and the most common extranodal sites were palatine tonsils, suggesting that our population has a clinical behavior similar to Asiatic populations.

Background: Diffuse large B-cell lymphomas of the central nervous system (DLBCL CNS) represent less than 1% of all lymphomas and between 2% and 3% of all cerebral tumors. They occur in adults of 60 years of age or more. The objective of this work is to describe the clinical-pathological characteristics, the immunophenotype and the differential diagnosis. Clinical Case: From the files of the surgical pathology unit we found four cases of primary diffuse large B cell lymphoma of the central nervous system in a 6-year period. Three corresponded to women over 47 years of age and the other to a 42-year-old man. The time of evolution was between 2 and 4 months. The symptoms were headache, blurred vision, hemiparesis, and seizures. Localization was in the pineal region, the frontal, parietal regions, and the right thalamus. Morphologically, large lymphoid cells with a diffuse growth pattern and necrosis were observed. Immunohistochemical markers, such as CD 20 and bcl2 were positive, one was positive to CD3. Expression of bcl6 and CD 10 was positive in one case, and MUM-1 was positive in three cases. All the cases were negative for Epstein-Barr virus. Conclusions: The diffuse large-B cell lymphoma of the central nervous system is rare. Its average age of presentation is at 60 years or older. The localization is in the pineal, frontal, parietal and thalamic regions. Three cases were originated by activated B lymphocyte (MUM-1 expression) and other from the Germinal Center (GC) (CD 10 expression). The clinical course was bad. The four patients died shortly after the diagnosis.
