Objective To assess the prognostic impact of a routine invasive strategy according to the frailty burden in patients with non-ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction(nSTEMI)from the MOSCA-FRAIl clinical *** The MOSCA-FRAIl trial randomized 167 frail patients,defined by a Clinical Frailty Scale(CFS)≥4,with nSTEMI to an invasive or conservative *** primary endpoint was the number of days alive and out of hospital(DAOH)one year after *** this subanalysis,we compared the impact of an invasive strategy on the outcomes between vulnerable(CFS=4,n=43)and frail(CFS>4,n=124)*** Compared to vulnerable patients,frail patients presented lower values of DAOH(289.8 vs.320.6,P=0.146),more read-missions(1.03 vs.0.58,P=0.046)and higher number of days spent at the hospital during the first year(10.8 vs.3.8,P=0.014).The cau-ses of readmission were mostly non-cardiac(56%).Among vulnerable patients,DAOH were similar regardless of strategy(invasive ***:325.7 vs.314.7,P=0.684).Among frailest patients,the invasive group tended to have less DAOH(267.7 vs.311.1,P=0.117).Indeed,patients with CFS>4,invasively managed lived 29 days less than their conservative *** contrast,the-re were no differen.es in the subgroup with CFS=*** Adult patients with frailty and nSTEMI showed differen. prognosis according to the degree of frailty.A routine in-vasive strategy does not improve outcomes and might be harmful to the frailest patients.

The coating of plastics for optical applications is intended to improve the mechanical durability of soft polymers and to serve an antireflection function. Usually a classic four-layer antireflection system is added on top of a single-layer hard coating. With needle optimisation,an alternative coating design has been developed. Plasma ion assisted deposition was used to deposit coatings upon polymers. Uniform antireflection and high scratch resistance have been achieved.

Antimicrobial Resistance Profile of Bacteria Isolated from Boreholes and Hand Dug Wells Water in ngaoundere Municipality of Adamawa Region in Cameroon

Uncontrolled uses of antibiotics have led to rapid evolution of antibiotic-resistance bacteria and antibiotic resistance gene transfer, especially in a pool of aquatic system where resistance, intermediate and susceptible bacteria to some antibiotics strive together. Consequently, there is a transfer of resistance genes. In this study, bacteria of the Enterobacteriaceae family and some gram positive bacteria isolated from some boreholes and hand dug wells water of public use were tested on 19 antibiotics of differen. classes. This was achieved through a disk diffusion technique to determine the antimicrobial resistance profile of the said bacteria, microbial resistance index of the drugs used (and their ability to produce Beta-lactamase). These isolates were shown to demonstrate a very high resistance to the drugs used in the area. The resistance was highest in Escherichia coli 1 (73.68%) and lowest in Streptococcus pneumoniae (47.82%). These isolates also indicated very high levels of multi-drug resistance. The minimum resistance index was 0.47, indicating that bacteria isolates were of fecal origin. It is evident from the present study that multiple antibiotic-resistant bacteria can thrive in water as an environmental reservoir, and can therefore provide a route to multidrug-resistant pathogens to enter human and animal population.

Simulated perturbation in the sea-to-air flux of dimethylsulfi de and the impact on polar climate

Experimental and Theoretical Investigations on Copper Corrosion Inhibition by Cefixime Drug in 1M HnO<sub>3</sub>Solution

Cefixime, a third-generation semi-synthetic cephalosporin antibiotic was used as a copper corrosion inhibitor in 1M HnO3 solution. The study was conducted through the weight loss technique at 298 - 318 K and theoretical studies based on quantum chemistry. The studied drug inhibited the corrosion of copper in 1M HnO3 over the cefixime concentration range (0.02 - 2 mM). The inhibition efficiency increased with an increase in the inhibitor concentration to reach 91.07% at 2 mM, but decreased with an increase in temperature. The thermodynamic functions related to the adsorption of cefixime on the copper surface and that of the metal dissolution were computed and analyzed. The results point out spontaneous adsorption, mainly through a physisorption mechanism following langmuir adsorption isotherm model and an endothermic dissolution process. Quantum chemical calculations were also performed at B3lYP level with 6-31G (d, p) basis set and lead to molecular descriptors such as EHOMO (energy of the highest occupied molecular orbital), ElUMO (energy of the lowest unoccupied molecular orbital), ΔE (energy gap) and μ (dipole moment). The global reactivity descriptors such as χ (electronegativity), χ (global hardness), S (global softness), and ω (electrophilicity index) were derived using Koopman’s theorem and analyzed. The local reactivity parameters, including Fukui functions and dual descriptors were determined and discussed. Experimental and theoretical results were found to be in good agreement.

In this Paper,the stochastic layer of Duffing's equation hosed on the chosen resonance is investigated.A general method is provided for studying the stochastic layer near the assigned resonant orbit. Several approximate critical conditions are given for the theoretical predictions of that stochastic layer. For non-dissipative Duffing's equation, two critical conditions are obtained when its global stochastic layer occurs and vanishes for the given resonance. In addition, a limit critical condition has been presented when all Possible resonances exist risible in the stochastic *** results are compared with the critical conditions resulting from both Chirikov overlap method and ren.rmalization techniques. Finally, using the cirtical conditions, numerical simulations are Performed to check our theoretical predictions of the stochastic layer based on the given resonance.

Preparation and Characterization of Activated Carbon Based on Wood (<i>Acacia auriculeaformis</i>, Côte d’Ivoire)

The objective of this work is to prepare one of the best activated carbon (CA) based on wood (Acacia auriculeaformis). The chemical activation method was used for varying the chemical agent namely phosphoric acid H3PO4 (CAA), sodium hydroxide naOH (CAB), and sodium chloride naCl (CAS). The physico-chemical analysis of the three activated carbons indicated that, under the conditions of preparation, the activated carbons possess activation efficiencies lower than 50% (41.81% for CAA, 26.25% for CAB and 48.87% for CAS), low ash content (CAA: 5.00%, CAB: 14.90 and CAS: 6.60%) and iodine values ranging from 190.35 mg/g to 380.71 mg/g, suggesting that the good quality of the prepared activated carbon. The surface functional groups using Boehm test and the zero point charge (pHZPC) methods confirmed the acidic, basic and neutral character for CAA, CAB and CAS respectively (CAA: pHZPC = 4.8, CAB: pHZPC = 8.2, CAS: pHZPC = 6.8). The surface specific areas were determined through the liquid phase adsorption of acetic acid and methylene blue using the langmuir method and BET analysis. Also, the porosity was determined. The BET surface areas of CAA, CAB and CAS were respectively 561.60 m2/g, 265.00 m2/g and 395.40 m2/g. The influence of chemical activation agent on pores formation was confirmed by scanning electron microscopic (SEM) analysis. CAA was selected as the best activated carbon because of its good surface area and good pore volume compared to those found in the literature. Therefore, its application as an adsorbent for effluents treatment could be explored. In addition, the best activating agent for coal from Acacia auriculeaformis was found to be phosphoric acid.

The distributions and correlations of chlorophyll-a(Chl-a),aerosol optical depth(AOD)and ice cover in the southeast Arctic Ocean-Greenland Sea(10°W–10°E,70°–80°n)between 2003 and 2009 were studied using satellite data and statistical *** analysis showed correlations between Chl-a and AOD,Chl-a and ice cover,and AOD and ice cover with differen. time *** time lag of Chl-a and AOD indicated their long-term equilibrium *** in AOD and Chl-a and generally occurred in May and July,*** the time lag,the correlation between Chl-a and AOD in the study region was as high as *** peak gap between Chl-a and AOD shifted for about 6 weeks during 2003–*** the summer and autumn of 2009,Chl-a and AOD levels were much higher than during the other years,especially in the northern band of the study region(75°–80°n).The driving forces for this localized increase in phytoplankton biomass could be mainly attributed to the very high rate of ice melting in spring and early summer and the high wind speed in autumn,together with the increased deposition of aerosol throughout the *** unusually high AOD in the spring of 2003 was mainly due to a massive fi re in Russia,which occurred in the fi rst half of the *** the 7 years of the study,the sea surface temperature generally *** may have been due to the release of dimethylsulfi de into the air,excreted in large amounts from abundant phytoplankton biomass,and its subsequent reaction,form large amounts of aerosol,and resulting in regional cooling.
